Many people who own their home have a mortgage.

I don't know all the interlocking ownership and relationships. It's possible Pete can sell the contracts with a reduced commission or Pete gets part of the commission.

I don't know the math. Can Pete get emough $$$ renting the points to cover dues and financing payments?

You don't own your home if it's mortgaged. The bank owns it.

Monera Financial effectively owns those resale contracts. That's how they can offer financing with no credit check (the only kind Pete was capable of obtaining). The DVC contract itself is the collateral. Whatever direct contracts he bought he can sell, but will take a loss, most likely.

I know for one thing I'm not going to abandon Pete. We are all human and we all make mistakes. And yes, some of us make the same mistakes over and over until we get caught. Everyone deserves compassion and forgiveness because we don't know what they are going through. God forgives us 70 * 7. A real friend stands by through it all and gives support. I don't have to agree, but I will give support and well wishes. I pray that he takes a beat and steps back from everything and reflect. Work on his self and reemerge that much better.
Being human and making a mistake is not what rape is and if that is your opinion of what a human is, I really am scared for what type of humans you have come across.

What Pete did is the definition of inhumanness.

Weill hopefully you'll be able to forgive Pete after he's released from prison if this ends up going to court and he's found guilty. Yes people make mistakes but they need to be made to pay for those mistakes.
I can't keep track of which posters have good info and who posts speculation and guesses

I've read the statutes of limitations has expired on the SA. I'd be shocked if the.AMEX situation results in jail
It's currently a civil matter

And really, even if there's no mortgage, you're only ever renting it off the local government for the price of your property tax bill. Try not paying those and see how much you own your house. (Takes a bong hit): Ownership is an illusion, maaaannnn!

Semamtics. The bank has a lien. If the bank owned the house then the bank not the "homeowner" would be deducting property taxes.

I suspect Pete's equity in his DVC contracts is nominal. How many points does he "own"

Could dues be some of his AMEX charges?

Okay, Pete. 🙄

Yup. Absolutely true.

If Pete fraudulently used a business credit card for personal expenses, it's a felony level theft charge (at the amount charged) and can carry up to 10 years in prison in FL.

As an owner at BLT since 2009 I've never understood the attraction to Riviera; especially for the price! Why would anyone think that's a Deluxe resort?? The location is awful and I'm not even going to discuss the sky buckets. LOL! I guess Disney did a great job of marketing and talking it up..... "Look at this bright, shiny object; It's amazing!" BTW.... I was mocked on that website around 2009-2010. It was actually hysterical! :rotfl2:
I don’t understand the attraction either. I will never buy into a DVC property with resale restrictions. No thanks.

Hello, everyone,

After careful consideration, I've come to the difficult decision to close this thread. Please understand that this choice is not an attempt to undermine anyone's voice or suppress important discussions. On the contrary, I firmly believe in the value of open dialogue moving forward, and I am committed to addressing all concerns and feedback constructively.

The reason behind this closure is that the thread has been actively running for close to two weeks (115 pages). While it has been enlightening in some ways, I feel that it has started to become repetitive, making it challenging to move forward and focus on solutions.

My main goal is to shift our attention toward the future and the necessary steps we must take to make positive changes.

For those who still wish to continue the conversation and contribute to shaping a better direction, I invite you to join us at this link https://www.disboards.com/threads/what-would-you-like-to-see-in-the-new-era.3926448/. There, we can create a more focused and purposeful environment to address the sensitive issues at hand constructively.
Your voices matter, and I am dedicated to ensuring that we find the most effective ways to address concerns.

I appreciate your understanding.

Corey
