I am sad that Dustin and Sean had to tell the internet their story. They had to lie to their friends and family for years (a decade?). This should've been stopped early on, the offender corrected or removed, and we will never hear about it and the show went on. The environment was just so toxic and the offender so good at manipulation and bullying that it spawned just a horrifying story.

probably hundreds at a minimum. I'll be honest -I'm not quite sure what it takes to be banned. I've been put in the corner a few times and had points taken away ...whatever that means. I'm probably low on points, so who knows I might be gone soon too. Not that I've done anything crazy but I have no clue about this point system -they just say you've been given or taken away points.
You reset your penalty points if you behave for a month or two.
Is that the same as "trophy points?"
No, totally different
Why do so many people have 113 points? Is that the cap?
Because that’s the most trophy points you can earn

As the former mod of this board, I feel compelled to share some insight regarding points/banning to help bring clarity. Please remember that this site is privately owned and run by a set of rules. When someone registers for an account, they agree to posting guidelines. You’ll see an explanation of points and consequences listed there.

I think it’s important to point out how much of an anomaly the Unplugged forum actually is when compared to other parts of the boards. This was the topic of many conversations back in the day with the powers that be. Moderating here was/is definitely unique due to the many aspects of the podcast and its base. Several have commented on how posts are not being removed as of recently which shows the level of transparency that has been afforded to the current situation. That is one example of the eccentric nature of this forum.

Knowing this, please understand that a moderator and/or webmaster has very specific expectations placed on them. They are to abide by those. If not, someone else could very well step in. It can be a very difficult position.

I hope this helps. I’m not sure if things have changed or not since my time here. Just keep in mind, whether it’s on the Unplugged forum or another section, the mods are carrying out what’s expected of them. Don’t shoot the messenger.

The one bit is ad revenue per hit is piddling. It takes 100s of hits to make like $1. DIS boards get hundreds of thousands per month. (There's 600,000 members though of course not all are active.) So yes he's making money off this, but each individually we are contributing pennies as most.

I've heard many times that their site is on Google Adsense, which is by far the lowest and worst program for ad revenue, so they are getting money from all this traffic but def not as much as they could. This makes me wonder about their business decisions as they could be getting so much more money on Mediavine, which their traffic qualifies for, and at one time, they had enough traffic for Adthrive.

From a site that estimates traffic - disboards now gets about 110K monthly visitors, while wdwinfo gets about 400k. So the site gets good traffic, but PW hs been letting ad money slip through his fingers by not optimizing it.

Love to hear from a moderator if there was some ten commandments type edict that started with "thou shalt never criticize Pete", or if they just understood the general vibe was to run it like the Thought Police.

13. INFRACTIONS
The DIS guidelines are an important part in keeping the site family friendly. While the majority of our visitors abide by our rules, there are times when problems develop. In order to handle these issues consistently and fairly, we have developed an infraction system.

As you can see, the infractions have different point values. The majority of offenses will result in a warning via private message accompanied by infraction points which will expire according to schedule. Providing that you do not accumulate more points during that time, no further action should be needed. The more serious violations will result in additional penalties or an immediate banning.

If you do incur an infraction, you will be notified. If you wish to question or appeal this decision, please keep in mind that your correspondence is subject to the same regulations. At any time you may contact the board administration at admin@wdwinfo.com.

There may be times where a situation develops that is not covered in our infraction system. For those cases we reserve the right to take whatever action is needed in order to ensure that our guidelines are followed.

I used to be a LOT more active than I've been in recent years (life got in the way--new job, kids are older and have more activities).

I never ever realized we had a points system. Or, maybe I knew it but totally forgot about it!

Has anyone heard from Pete in the last week? What he’s done is completely unforgivable and I stand with the victims but given his past it would be good to know he hasn’t done something stupid which despite everything I don’t think anyone here would wish on him
I seriously doubt we will hear anything more from him. Given his legal troubles, anything he says publicly could just dig his hole deeper, and is very unlikely to help him. I'm sure he has legal counsel, and I'm sure his legal counsel has told him to keep quiet.

No worries. I’m just either not that “like-able” or I was a bad bunny. Either way is okee fine

I understand everyone is different but they didn't HAVE to tell their stories -obviously, by doing so they've exposed a serious problem and probably saved others from the same employment issues. I'm going out on a limb and guessing it happened to others, but they handled the situation on the spot ...to be sure it never would happen again and never exposed the truth. I understand everyone is different, but I have a hard time getting my head around "allowing" that to happen as a heterosexual male(or any sex or orientation for that matter) ...that's a pretty big line to cross without being a co-worker, never mind a boss. So, I've read many posts that are horrified, shocked, deeply saddened, etc ...and to be honest, while having definite sympathy and surprise, I'm just not blown away by it all. Hopefully, Pete gets some serious help -deep down, I'd like to believe there is still a thread of a decent person left in him. Usually in the end, everyone gets what they have coming to them.....

Maybe this is obvious but would you say significantly more people were banned from this forum versus the others?
