Disney+ and Satan

Pam & Tommy - a Disney + original (?) is literally about a porn tape and has a talking ***** in it… but Satan is where you draw the line?
The show sounds good, not sure if your point here was to indicate that Disney should only be showing content signed off by religious groups? Strange.
The adult content on Disney+ (at least what we get in the U.K.) has been amazing all under star I believe?
Extraordinary
Dopesick
Pam and tommy
The chip and dales
Dollface
The sex pistols one
I could go on, some really great show there, I’d be very excited if they added Hulu shows
I am just sad the Disney is tied to anything adult in content. Disney should just be content geared toward wholesome family shows. Pretty sure this isn't what Walt had in mind when he created Mickey.

While I agree with you but D+ can't survive on family oriented content alone. If it wants to stay competitive it needs a bit of everything.

Satan is awesome!

I know, right? There are fairies and magic all over the place! Moana has both Maui and Te-fiti as icons and false gods.

Think of the children!

(In all seriousness: the OP is gatekeeping nonsense.)

Nobody kicks up a fuss there do they? 😂

How about don’t watch what you don’t like and let others watch what they want? Why do people always think they should control others? If no one wants to watch it then it will go away. That’s how things should work. Also parental controls and parental guidance are a thing.
I personally don't care either way. I'm just really hoping that this forum doesn't turn into every other stupid internet forum where everyone turns into a keyboard warrior and gangs up on the OP, because what he or she said wasn't cool or trendy enough.

I agree that there's no place for online bullying but the OP admitted she only started this thread to gauge peoples reactions and "see how bad things have gotten". Seems like an odd reason to start a thread to me.

I am sooooooo over the "Walt wouldn't..." and "Walt would roll over..." and " I'm sure Walt didn't intend..."

He's been dead since 1966. A LOT has changed and there is nobody who can speak for how he might feel in today's world.

We ALL have choices. To watch or not. To visit or not. Carry on with your choices and let everyone else have theirs.

***rant over***

Take a look at the original fairytales the Disney movies were based off, the movies could have been much more dark.

Disney put out Return to Oz in the 80s. If you've seen it you get this, it not, it's one of the creepiest, disturbing movies and I saw it at age 5/6.

Germany has krampus, which was my first thought. This isn't at all odd for a show made for Germany's d+. Not all countries are the same which is a good thing.

With the extra info it sounds like a twist on wizards of waverly place, just older and a different way for her to get her powers.

We all choose what we and our kids watch, that means they've decided in Germany there's an audience for this. As with everything else a person can choose what they watch.

It’s because Europe is smart enough to make fun of religion without everybody getting butt hurt about it.

The biggest problem in America now days is 100% “I don’t agree with this so I want it gone” attitude.

None of it is real, it’s a fictional show. It’s not going to come out of the TV and hurt you and it won’t even be an option on your subscription lol I literally don’t get the complaint at all.

Any statement that claims to know what Walt would have wanted can safely be disregarded. Walt was a genius, but he was totally unpredictable--if you talked to the people that knew him best the most consistent theme is that no one knew how he would react.

I always chuckle at the "Walt wouldn't approve of this" talk. Walt doesn't have to approve of anything. The man has been dead for almost 50 years. He left a great legacy that's hard for the company to live up to. But he wasn't a perfect man by any stretch. And he left this world with the idea that his works were not complete because he knew once he was gone, he had no say over them.

As far as Disney and Satan, do we just gloss over that Walt approved many stories and attractions that involved devils (Mr. Toad), demons (Fantasia), the dead (Haunted Mansion), and other completely non-Christian stories?

I'm sure there's plenty of content through the years that Walt wouldn't approve of but thankfully, the company is not bound by what he might or might not approve of. I'm sure there's lots of diversity of characters that may not have ever gotten a green light by Walt such as Moana, Tiana, Mulan, and Encanto. I'm not saying he was racist but he was certainly a product of his time, look no further than some of the depictions of non-white characters in older cartoons and feature films. Thankfully, as a society, we've seen that those depictions are not good.

But ultimately, there's a lot of content on Disney+ and Hulu that's not something everyone should watch. So maybe parents should exert more control of what their children are watching versus trying to roll a boulder uphill and have a say on what content should or shouldn't be on Disney+ in another country.

It's an abomination Why even come up with this crap.
This type of "crap" has been in movies since movies began ... over 100 years ago.
So this is the world we live in now. Sad.
This world existed before we all were born. Nothing has changed.
I mean, it doesn't sound that different from The Omen, which came out over 40 years ago and is generally considered a horror classic. It was also released by Fox, so Disney owns that too,
The Omen was probably one of the very best horror movies ever ....... and to think the villains in the story are closely woven with one of the biggest religious organizations.

The Disney Company Walt started is 100 years old and Walt has been dead more than half of it. It is now a very large multi holding corporation. And given that Walt Disney was highly involved in the idea and imagineering of the Haunted Mansion among other evil - I think he'd be okay with how the company has grown their audience.
I wasn't referring to Disney+ I was referring to more people normalizing evil.
"Evil" in this context has been around for centuries ...

The key here is that if there is "evil" in one's life - they allowed it. We all choose what entertains us, what leads us, what we engage with. There is plenty in this world that many find offensive and immoral - and there are just as many who engage in it.

Don't worry about what other people watch (assuming it is legal). :stir:
