Does anyone know the dates for the filming of the 2008 Disney Channel Games at Disney's Wide World of Sports? Thanks
I'd like to know too and how to get tickets?? We're there April 5th - 19th
Thanks in advance
The DCG Passholder promotion for last year's Games was found on the Passholdere website.I am not SURE how long before the 2007 DCG the promotion started, but I THINK it just started a few weeks before the 2007 DCG.I actually knew nothing about the DCG until I saw an announcement here on this site shortly before the Games last year.I just happened to have a trip planned for that week. When I first saw the announcement,I had no idea they were REAL games with the REAL DC Stars.LOL Basically,to get the Concert tickets, you could sign-up on the Passholder website to "work" either a morning or afternoon shift during a taping. You had to stay for the COMPLETE shift and then there was a table where they would give you the Concert tickets.ALL Concert tickets were free, but I do not know how the other ones were distributed.Disney made a formal announcement that there would be a 2008 DCG on the Disney Channel during their Happy U Year programming.I did not see the announcement,so I don't know if they also announced the dates. The dates HAVE been ennounced by Hal Boedecker who is the television critic for the Orlando Sentinal. He covered the DCG extensively last year.I feel CERTAIN that his information came directly from Disney, but in your prepayment situation,I would advise you to call Wide World of Sports directly for confirmation and peace of mind.We attended last year and are planning on going again this year. Do you remember how and when they announced how passholders could get tickets to the concert? Also to WEDWDW how did you get those dates? I have been searching the internet and all I can find is a blog from the Orlando Sentinel. We want to make reservations and we have to prepay for them so I want to know for sure that those are the dates. Thank you soooo much for responding. Deb
All DCG Concert tickets were free.I do not know how the General Public tickets were distributed.Annual Passholders could get Concert tickets by "working" a complete "shift" at one of the tapings. The DCG Concert was ALSO a taping so it was not a regular concert per se.There was a lot of "down time" and not a great deal of music, but it was still VERY fun and there was a GREAT Disney-quality fireworks show at the end.I'd like to know this also. We watched the taping last year. I remember we were notified of the dates from an AP email. But I don't remember getting any info about purchasing concert tickets in that email. I didn't see it anyway if it was there.
My Daughter watchs that.
I know Its in the summer. It is always between August-the end of summer. So sometime between August and July area its starts.
And she said some of the people on it this year will be...
Rico (Hannah Montana), Miley Cyrus, Mitchel Muso, Emily Osment, Possibly the Jonas Brothers, Disney stars from different Countrys, Dylan and Cole sprouse, and More!
So look forward to that.
I received an e-mail from Hal Boedecker today and he said that he had received confirmation from the Disney Channel last night for the dates of April 28-May 3.I know that everyone may want to wait until these dates are publicly confirmed to make travel arrangements, but I thought I would go ahead and post this information.Personally,I now fully believe these dates are accurate and am shopping for an air carrier, etc.Have fun at the Games everybody!
Hi! I attended the DCG last year.It was a BLAST! I did not know there was even such a thing as the DCG.A short time before I left for an already planned trip to WDW last year,I saw an announcement that the DCG would be taking place at WWoS during my trip.At first,I thought it was some type of new games based on Disney Channel shows that they were introducing to the public.I did not realize it was a TV show with the real Disney Chanel Stars.LOL Nothing has been announced about how this year's DCG will be conducted so all my information is from last year's Games. There was no charge to attend and you could come and go as you pleased. It was NOT crowded.I think that was because the Florida schools were still in session and the tapings were during the day.Your DD MOST DEFINITELY will have a chance to see some of her favorite stars.I bought my niece a DCG 2007 shirt and got her a TON of autographs on it.There was NO autograph session or meet-and-greet,but as the Stars were going out onto or leaving the field for the tapings, they would sometimes come over to the seats and sign autographs. There were also a few other locations in the stadium where autographs could sometimes be obtained.I had really good results at one specific place. It could get fairly competitive at times,so really the amount of autographs you got really depended an how much time you wanted to put into it.There was also a chance you could run into the Stars if you were staying at one of their hotels or out in the parks.I saw Kyle Massey and the Sprouse twins hanging out in Tomorrowland one night and Miley Cyrus and Jason Earles in Epcot as they were being escorted to a DCG press event. The taping of the DCG closing concert that Friday night DID require a ticket. The tickets were free.I was able to obtain some through an Annual Passholder promotion, but they were also available online I think. The DCG Concert did "sell-out";I think because it was at night and the Florida school kids were able to go.The DCG concert ended with a Disney-quality fireworks show. The 2007 DCG was really a fun event to attend.Iam sure it could be "boring" to some people because there was a lot of "downtime",but they had the concessions stands open, etc. and it was just a fun atmosphere.I was on a mission to get my niece as many autographs as possible,so that made it fun.If your daughter really likes the Disney Channel Stars, this is THE event for her.It was fun to see how the kids reacted to the Stars.I think my ears are still ringing from the girl's screams I endured as I obtained the Jonas Brother's autographs for my niece. If you have anymore questions I will be glad to try and help.I have learned quite a bit from the time when I didn't even know what a DCG was!LOLWe are hoping these dates are correct as we will be in Disney at this time.
Have you had experience being there before and if so, can you give me an idea of how it all works? How early do we need to be at WWS or do people come and go all day? Is it really crowded or will our DD really have a chance to see some of her favorite stars? Any info./tips you can share would be great!TIA!!!
