DISNEY COLLEGE PROGRAM - A Spring 2013 Adventure! *COMPLETE* 11/20

Hi,

I am new today to Disboards so hey everyone!
I'm 20 years old (will be 21 by the time I do my CP) and I'm from the UK. I'm currently looking at applying to the CP in WDW next summer for 2 and a half months and I was wondering if anyone had been on a college programme? Or knows a little bit more about it than I do? I have heard you can become a character attendant which I am very interested in, and maybe auditioning to become a character, however, I've had a job in a mascot outfit before and I get a bit claustrophobic so I was wondering if you could apply for a "face" character as I think they are called? (Where the character is a real person such as Mary Poppins, The Princesses, Alice in Wonderland etc?)
And my last question is how much does it cost or how much do you get paid? The applications for next year aren't open until August so I am waiting to find out more then

If anyone could help me at all that would be great I am starting to get excited about it even before Ive applied so I would love to know more so that I can start my application 100% certain that I want to do it

Thanks Guys xxx

Welcome! Head over to the college board. They are great with the answers

There is tons of info out there! I've been reading a tumblr of a friend that did the DCP Spring 2013 who has been doing a huge information guide thing:
DCP Information Index
her post on Character Attendant Role
her post on Character Performer Role
It's pretty great because she goes in depth and will answer any questions you could possibly ask and there are links to other disney CMs/CPs there too! I know she really recommends doing as much research as you can before you apply or accept a position so definitely continue to learn more before applications are open imo! :flower3:

I have SO much catching up to do, but loving the updates so far! We were at Coronado one afternoon during our recent trip and thought of you! :goodvibes I'm so excited to hear about Lia's and your trip - from your tweets it sounds like it was a fabulous time! The desserts at Chef Mickey's look gorgeous, and that violet lemonade too. Yum! :thumbsup2

I just read the entire trip report in about 24 hours. Whew!! :) I kept hearing Pete talk about it and the DCP was one of my dreams (couldn't swing it though when I was in college) so I've been dying to come over here and read!

Love love love! And loved seeing a few familiar faces (Nicole, Victoria, Mike) in your TR. I've known Nicole for a few years now!

Jess, I love reading your trip reports! I just came across your Hilton Head Island report and it was so perfect because I'm considering a trip there! It seems so relaxing and peaceful and I really want to meet Shadow!

This might seem like a weird question, but in all your pics your skin looks so matte and perfect. When I'm walking around in the Florida head and humidity my face is a grease pit by midday. Can I ask what foundation you use, if any? Or are you just genetically blessed with perfect skin? :)

I am so glad I stumbled upon this thread! I've read some of your TRs before and they are always awesome. Beyond thrilled to see you are living out your dream. I am still back in January and can't wait to catch up to the present!

Hey Jess!
I'm also a long time lurker here on this thread. :) I hope you are still having an amazing time out there in WDW and I can't wait to read about more of your adventures.

May 16th (Part 1) - "Can I Call Ya Al? Or Maybe Just Din."

This morning we all got up at 8 am and started getting ready! Once Lia and I were set we went down to the food court to get some breakfast. I needed to use up some quick service credits!

I got a classic breakfast: a Mickey Waffle!!! It had to happen. It was good but I really wasn't a fan of the syrup that they had there. It was just out of a bottle and it just tasted so processed. The waffle itself was delicious though.

We brought Lee-Anne back a fruit cup and then we all headed down to the bus stop. I LOVE that Port has a street called "Cake Walk." They're so perfect. (as if we didn't already know...)

We got to the bus stop and Lia realized that she dropped her tickets and everything in the room so she had to run back and get it.

Our plan was to go to Magic Kingdom in the morning before lunch and then go to Epcot for our ADR, but since we were running pretty slow today we figured it would be smarter to go straight to Epcot in the morning and do Magic Kingdom later! (Especially since the MK bus came and went while Lia was back in the room)

Once Lia got back to the bus stop the Epcot bus arrived so it was perfect timing! We were on one of the very old buses and it took us right to Epcot! Port is SO close to Epcot, I didn't even realize.

We got there and it was CROWDED. The wait for the bag check and turnstiles was ridiculous. But once we got in we pretty much had the whole park to ourselves!

The first thing we did was Captain EO. Lee-Anne LOVES Michael Jackson so it was a necessity. I think I actually enjoyed it more the second time I saw it because I had a better idea of what to expect. Michael J is so presh.

After that we went straight to Morocco because we HAD to meet Aladdin and Jasmine.

9149456524_dd6ceb0356_z.jpg

We lined up about 20 minutes before their scheduled time and we were like the 5th or 6th family in line.

9149451238_9d41cfb224_z.jpg

Aladdin and Jas came out and it was the same PERFECT Aladdin that I met in February with my Mom and my Nana. Ahhhh!!! He literally looks like he's from the movie. He's got the movement down, the voice, the look, EVERYTHING.

9149444650_f710d7c0fd_z.jpg

We went up to them and they saw Lia's shirt and Aladdin was like "look Jasmine, it's us!" Then Leeanne asked him "Can I call ya Al? Or maybe just din?" And he was like "HOW ABOUT LADDIE?!" Oh my God, Aladdin literally had the ENTIRE movie script memorized and ready to use at his disposal during EVERY meet and greet. He went on and on and on about how to catch Abu by holding an apple in your hand and looking the other way. Ahh he was so great. I think we are all in love. (Even though Lee-Anne is still more in love. with Jafar) He also asked us what kingdoms we were from and he asked us how we got here. Like, a GPS? (Genie Positioning System) HE'S BRILLIANT.

(By the way, this is the photo that is going to go on Aladdin and my future wedding invitations. IT'S FINE.)

We left there and then headed over to Canada for our 12:30 pm lunch reservation at Le Cellier! YAYYY we were so excited.

We were seated in the northwest territory room and our waitress was really sweet. I was the only one who actually used my dining credits at this meal, which I wasn't mad about. However, I started by paying out of pocket for cheddar cheese soup. I CANNOT go to that restaurant and not get it. It's way too amazing.

9149407476_ac49cdef68_z.jpg

The pretzel bread was just gorgeous and delicious. It's perfect when it's combined with the soup and it's perfect when it has the fancy butter on it. I just can't get over it.

9149412962_a432d12db6_z.jpg

SO EXCITED FOR THE FOOD.

9149403900_73880e3bcf_z.jpg

So then my meal came and I got the filet with the mushroom risotto obviously. It was incredible as always and I really took the time to savor the flavor. It truly is a divine creation. I'm in love with that steak.

9149397734_8fc500c44e_z.jpg

For Lia's meal she got her beloved cheddar cheese soup. They had been suffering from a long term relationship and they were finally reunited. She was very happy. We decided that we could truly just solve world conflict by supplying everyone cheddar cheese soup.

Lee-Anne got the seafood ravioli for her lunch. That was on the appetizer menu but it seemed to be a big enough portion for her! She said "on a scale of one to ten.... This is a 55." Obviously we had a winner!

9147171629_c7124316e2_z.jpg

For dessert Lia and I split the chocolate moose! He was very adorable. Even Hula Timon thought so!

9149394778_cdf49ae5bf_z.jpg

We waddled out of Le Cellier feeling very full but very happy. Our next stop on our journey was Japan! Aka Lee-Anne's favorite country!

We pin traded with the cast members at the kidcot fun stop and they made Pikachu origami!! I flipped out over it because Pikachu is my favorite Pokemon and she said I could have it. EEEEP :-)

9147146051_d42c6f5725_z.jpg

We went in the store and just looked at EVERYTHING. They had a plate that looked like a monorail... But it was actually a Shinkansen, which means bullet train. Thank you, LeeAnne for knowing all of these things. In Lia and my mind all we see is Disney stuff so it was obviously depicted as a monorail to us. I would've bought it but it was like $50. And it was plastic too!

9149388534_1489436e8a_z.jpg

We went further and further into the store and I kept seeing a lot of great stuff. I love the Pokemon stuff and the Mario stuff and the hello kitty stuff. I don't love them enough to buy out the store but I do enjoy browsing.

Pika-Selfie!

9147141729_70007612a1_z.jpg

Leeanne made a few sailor moon purchases. She got a mug, a binder, and a folder I believe!

WE LOVE JAPAN!

May 16th, 2013 (Part 2) - CASTLE SPAM!

After that we went over to the Beach Club! We stopped at the concierge desk and the gift shop to look at the pin book!

9149369348_0c9ec36e41_z.jpg

Then we went to the bus stop and a Magic Kingdom bus pulled right up! We had our own personal bus and it was a lovely escort! The bus voice guy also told us happy birthday!

9149367898_d332b98523_z.jpg

We arrived at the Magic Kingdom and moseyed our way down Main Street USA.

9153193418_dbda6bb268_z.jpg

The entrance through the castle was open so we had to go through it! It allowed for some lovely photo opportunities.

When we got into Fantasyland we stopped at Castle Couture and Sir Mickey's.

9150856339_d3b7706d04_z.jpg

We browsed around there for a while and just admired all of the princessey merchandise. I'm pretty sure I would fit into an XL child's princess dress so I should probably buy one. Hahaha just kidding. (only kind of)

My bank account is going to be in MAJOR trouble when I have a daughter someday. EVERYTHING IS SO CUTE.

Lia found her sidekick!

Kisses for Pascal!

We grabbed fastpasses for Little Mermaid and then we headed over to new Fantasyland!

Our first stop was obviously Gaston's Tavern because Lia had to get her drug..... I mean Lefou's brew! Aka the love of her life.

9153049186_040a0b1379_z.jpg

We chilled out in the tavern for a while and utilized the free air conditioning.

Those princess onsies are so cute!!! We just found out we are expecting (due in January). No idea what it is yet but if its a girl it has to have one of each of those!!!! No matter what it is though it will have to love Disney!

LOVE your updates!
You girls seriously look so genuinely happy. Like, your happiness literally emanates out of my laptop and I feel it...I FEEL IT!!! Lol

Ugh, Jess...you are just so inspiring! Thank you so much for posting and sharing your life adventures with everyone here! I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon your trip reports! I'm like a gazillion times more excited to do the college program now. I always thought that getting Concierge was IMPOSSIBLE in the DCP, but obviously you've proven otherwise! I've always wanted to work in a resort instead of in the parks, so I'm definitely shooting for it now!

Thanks so much for being you! LOL! And as always, I'll look forward to your next update!

:yay:

Adios!
-Michela

Love your updates, as always.

As a mother of a little baby girl who is also obsessed with Disney clothing, I have a tip for you. Walmart has a TON of Disney clothes. It's so adorable, and a fraction of the price! One time I even found the exact same onesie that I had seen at Disney, but obviously much cheaper. :)
