What time do normal day guests have to leave?

Big River Grille Closing Permanently This Weekend

Big River Grille and Brewing Works, a staple of Disney’s BoardWalk Resort, will shutter their doors for good on Sunday.

The restaurant originally opened on Disney’s BoardWalk in 1996 and has delighted guests ever since with its unique take on American Pub favorites.

We here at MickeyBlog were able to independently confirm with the restaurant that its last day of operation will be January 21.

A Paradise For Beer Drinkers
Big River was also a popular location for beer lovers. The location had an award-winning selection of handcrafted ales and lagers that were brewed on the premises.

While dining, guests could also watch the onsite brewmaster craft five specialty beers through floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

While perhaps never the most popular restaurant on Crescent Lake, Big River had its fans for its broad menu and signature IPAs.

Owned by Gordon Biersh as part of Craftworks Restaurant and Breweries, Big River was the only brewery on Walt Disney World property for years.

Why Is Big River Closing?

While no official reason was given for the restaurant’s closure, the flagship Big River Grille in Chattanooga announced it was closing last year.

The BoardWalk location was closed for a year during the COVID-19 pandemic, eventually reopening in February of 2021.

At this time, there is no word on what will replace Big River Grille and Brewing Works.

Between this closing and ESPN being gone for a few years now, there's a big hole in the offerings at BW.

Plus didn’t they close some of the QS options along the Boardwalk?

True and the Cake Bake shop seems to be taking forever.
Also the Cake Bake Shop is probably going after a completely different clientele than ESPN and Big River Brewing. It will be interesting to see what takes Big River's place. Hopefully something in the same vein. Sometimes you just want to sit down, grab a burger and beer and watch a game.

For most people. Something I carry in my park bag gets me selected for screening every time. I've learned to just accept my fate. :duck:

They definitely make the lines shorter though.

One thing I carry in my "park pack" would set off the metal detectors, so I'd have to take it out. They are these lens wipes for my glasses that come in foil packets - it's the packet that sets it off. I learned that at DL once when they had to wand me and search - he said he'd seen that before with those.

Anyway, I love not having to take that out at WDW. Nothing else in it would set off - it's the baggie that an emergency poncho comes in, and has the poncho, lens wipes, band-aids, and possibly any small paper or card I might need.

Yes! I was surprised to see DL still using the metal detectors. The new scanners at WDW are awesome and so fast!
It was a bleeping nightmare for the DL races this past weekend—especially on half marathon day when the most racers finished close to park opening and were trying to get through security back to the DL hotels the same time all the day guests were trying to get in for park open

I like to carry my camera gear with me and so much of it sets off the WDW scanner that I would basically have to empty my bags at the entrance anyway. But that's my choice, so I'm ok with the extra screening.

Those days I go without those though, the new scanners are a god send. The old way was a mess!
