Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Also I’m looking at the preview updates for CM’s at WDW. Looks fun! Hopefully California gets the virus numbers under control so DL can reopen!

Please forgive my WDW ignorance, but what is their current cancelation policy on park reservations? Do you just have to cancel by the day before, or does it need to be sooner? What are the repercussions of not showing? Just wondering and speculating on how DLs policy might be similar.

We sometimes do this on Southwest, but there’s a sweet spot on the plane... rows up front will fill up (faster deplaning), rows in the back will fill up (those hopeful about a window/aisle seat and fail will not want to go backwards), mid plane will be empty.

Trick is to a) look like two strangers, b) be eating something, c) look scruffy.
Good tip. We're going Southwest Sept 13-17. I'll try that. I originally booked 5 seats and I had just missed a 2 day sale at $49 each way. So thinking I might not get the flights at all I booked them at $101 each way (OAK<>SNA). A couple weeks later they dropped the price again to $49 each way so I modified my reservation and saved half the money (for later flight credits). Now 3 of our companions can't go (child with high risk health) so it will just be the 2 of us. I see that the prices for those exact flights are $59 to SNA, $49 to OAK so maybe they are having trouble getting customers. If things open up it sounds like it might be a light flight and maybe low crowds like we've never seen in years. Hoping...

Bummer that Tortilla Joe's is not opening. That was the one my family wanted to hit. I wonder if they will wait until indoor restaurants can open. They don't have a huge outside area.
You would think that Disney would block off additional space for the restaurants to use so they could do more outside seating.

Can anyone share the email they have recieved regarding DLR hotels being closed through July? I am booked at the end of the month and haven't received anything unfortunately

I'm wondering about Ralph Brennan's. People would for sure go for their beignets. They have the express window and outdoor seating (although it's small), so that could work. Also I think Black Tap has a to-go window, so I wonder if they will be reopening.

We are going Thursday. Hoping that Earl of Sandwich and Napolini are open, as that is what my kids want.

We are new to DL and were hoping to go in the late fall. I checked UT for tickets, but they are not for sale. Is the only way to guarantee park entry to stay onsite; is it even guaranteed if you are staying onsite?

Dear Guest,
We are sorry to inform you that your upcoming visit with us will be impacted by several closures. We recognize that the COVID-19 situation is constantly evolving, and there are many factors that are helping us determine the timing of when various aspects of our business will reopen in a responsible way.

Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park remain closed and will reopen at a later date, pending state and local government approvals. The Hotels of the Disneyland Resort are also closed and will reopen at a later date. Given this unprecedented situation, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate through this process as responsibly as we can.

Unfortunately, this means we are unable to accommodate your upcoming hotel room reservation. If you have already modified or cancelled your upcoming Disneyland Resort hotel room reservation or Walt Disney Travel Company vacation package, no further action needs to be taken. If you’re interested in modifying your existing travel dates, reservations are currently available for travel dates August 1, 2020 and later.

To provide additional flexibility, we are waiving Disney-imposed change and cancellation fees up to the date of check-in for reservations with arrivals through July 31, 2020. If you are unable to reach us before your check-in date for such time period, you will not be penalized or assessed Disney-imposed fees for cancelling your Disneyland Resort hotel room reservation or Walt Disney Travel Company vacation package after your check-in date.

Note that some package components are nonrefundable and subject to third-party operator cancellation policies. You should work directly with any third-party operators you have used to book any parts of your vacation package that were not booked through the Walt Disney Travel Company, including flights, travel protection and car rentals.

To cancel or modify your reservation, please contact the Walt Disney Travel Company at (714) 520-5050 between the hours of 7:00 AM PST and 9:00 PM PST, 7 days a week. If you are a Canada resident, please call (800) 496-6337.

If you originally booked through a Travel Professional, please reach out to them directly if you have questions or would like to reschedule.

We do anticipate heavy call volume and appreciate your patience as we work hard to respond to all inquiries.
Sincerely,
Disney Destinations, LLC

Omg I want beignets and the thanksgiving sandwich from Earl of sandwich. And Disney coffee.

Anyone else feeling a little jealous as we watch all this WDW opening info come out? 🤪
Lol I’m just gonna say it ( and yes I know how this sounds) but I am incredibly jealous! Especially since DL reminded us today that they don’t have a date in mind, so I have no clue when the next time will be. I’m watching the live streams and living vicariously through them. Lots of tears today.

Ehhhh.... I don’t know. I wish the parks were open, but I wish it was safe to go. My son tells me every other day that he wants to go to “Disneyland or Legoland” and it guts me a little every time. He waited so long, earned his spending money, learned to wear his mask... and the answer is still no. He’s five, and he doesn’t really get it.

On the other hand, the situation in Florida makes me very uncomfortable. Hopefully this goes well and (a) all my handwringing is for naught; and (b) WDW demonstrates that opening theme parks can be done safely even in the worst of the worst hot spots, thereby hastening the (safe) re-opening in California. I hope. Because the alternative is ... not good.
