Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

Returned from our trip last night: 4 nights YC waterview Club Level & 3 nights GF RPC standard room. I did not make any room requests for either stay. Our YC room was the second to last room on the far end of the floor, away from the lounge & elevators. The room had 2 queen beds & had a connecting door on both sides of the room. That meant there was no desk, one of the connecting doors was where the desk normally is. There was a pull out bed couch tho. The lounge offerings were pretty much the same as we saw in April, with the exception that they added the candy jars & ice cream freezer. Housekeeping was lacking for the first time for us. We returned to the room between 3 & 4 pm 2 days in a row, and the room had not been serviced either day. Luckily we got turn down service. That person made the bed (I had pulled the covers up, but didn’t tuck the sheets or arrange the pillows like they do!), restocked towels & toiletries & emptied our trash. Also, one day the dirty plates from the lounge were picked up on the whole floor apparently except for those outside our room, the room next door & the room across from us. We only had 1 plate, but the room next to us had 2 big piles of plates, glasses & utensils. So there was quite a bit stacked up. Except for the housekeeping issue, no issues with the room.

Saw several new cast members in the lounge. Food items were kept replenished & tables were cleared quickly. We got the room ready text as we left the airport. No greeter outside, I asked as we left our luggage with bell services & was told to go to the concierge desk inside for an escort to the 5th floor. There were about 5 people in that line, so we decided to just check if our bands would work on the elevator. They did, so we just took ourselves up. Stopped at the desk, introduced ourselves & said we are frequent guests so didn’t need lounge info etc. We didn’t need anything from the staff while we were there but got the typical smiles & greetings as we came & went.

On the day we moved to GF, we had bell services move our luggage. No issues at all with that. Our bags were there when we called after we got to our room. We had plans at Disney Studios, including lunch with an imagineer. We left there about 2:30 & took the bus to GF. We then waited at least 15 -20 minutes in the check in line. After we were all checked in, the CM called up to the club level to let them know we were there & ask if our room was ready. No resort map or activity schedule was offered. The gentleman greeter then came & escorted us to our room. He gave us his copies of the resort map & activity schedule when he found out we didn’t get them. I find the walk to your room silly actually. The private check in was a big benefit of staying club level. I’d much rather have the private check in & no escort to the room. I can find my own way to the room.

We had a standard room with 2 queen beds on the 4th floor overlooking the beach pool. The room’s AC was cranked way up when we entered & the room was pretty cold. We adjusted the temp as we got unpacked & it was then I noticed that the room had a musty smell, but my DH didn’t smell it. I have sinus issues & usually don’t notice smells easily. But I noticed this every time I entered the room. By the next day even my DH commented that it was pretty bad. In hind sight, we should have asked to be moved. But I was already unpacking when I first noticed & thought it must just be a temporary issue & would go away. Also we were only there for 3 nights. Had I realized it would keep getting worse, or if we were there longer, I would have had to speak to someone about it. Also, the balcony door was almost impossible to open. I actually thought it got painted shut. I literally had to yank it with all my might to get it opened. I only went on the balcony twice, this being one of the reasons.

After the clean, freshly remodeled rooms at YC, I thought the GF room looked a little worn, especially the rug & sofa. Also, the mattresses both beds were very soft & not supportive at all. Full disclosure, we like firm mattresses, so that might just be our preference. Someone else might like theses mattresses just fine. And the drawers compare unfavorably to the YC’s too. Not quite as much storage available. Exact same toiletries as at YC. The lounge offerings were fine. I was looking forward to the Mickey waffles I have heard they have at breakfast several times a week & thought we would have them on one of our mornings. But they did not have them on the 3 mornings we were there. On Friday morning, the chef was making the same crepes they have at YC. Thursday & Saturday morning, no chef cooking. Other food offerings were fine. Except for the afternoon tea, most items were pretty similar to what the YC has.

The far end of the club floors are blocked off because they are doing roofing work outside those windows. They had potted evergreens preventing you from walking all the way around the floors. No real transportation issues. I do like having security at the resort & not at the park. Wish they could do it al all the resorts. And also annoying to go thru security the second time at Epcot. Rearrange the check points so the monorail exits in the secured area already Disney! All in all, this stay was not quite as good as the others we have had at GF. The room issues colored my opinion, I’m sure.

I had booked 3 days of the Club Level fastpasses. I don’t think I’d do it again. The only benefit that made it worth it was using it to get tier 1 rides at Epcot & the Studios. I found I liked being able to move up the times for my fastpasses so being tied to the 1 hour spacing wasn’t appealing. We don’t go commando in the parks, so the time commitment didn’t work with our touring style. We did get to take advantage of the reserved area for HEA. I had Fantasmic scheduled also, but that night it was raining pretty good with lots of lightening at about 7:30, so we left the park. We haven’t seen Fantasmic in years, so I don’t know if it goes on in that kind of weather, but we weren’t interested enough to hang around & find out.

We booked a free dining bounce back for next December at YC. But I decided to forgo the club level. Since there is virtually nothing I need from Signature Services & my DH prefers meals over club level offerings, I did not book club level. The difference in price was over $1500 more for club level, same view. Since we are planning at least 3 trips next year, I’m just not sure I can justify the price every time. I’ll have to see what discounts come out for our other trips.

Sorry, this was longer than I planned!! :rotfl2:

I think your assessments of the MK resorts are all spot on (we haven’t stayed WL club). Poly had the amazing views, but otherwise was a bit meh to us. I think you’re onto something with BWI if you’re willing to give up the MK area. It’s an amazing place, and I think it works really well for an adults only trip!

@psac , THANK YOU for your input! Something to consider!

Well, after weeks of going back and forth between Poly and CR Club Level, I totally went off track and booked a 7 night Med Cruise on Disney Magic instead. Lol. Actually, I had finally settled on Poly (mainly because I just love that pool and how the club lounge is right there) but then my husband and I decided we liked the idea of the Med Cruise. Full disclosure, I received a travel grant to go to Italy this coming Summer and we decided the cruise would be the best way to see a ton of Europe but still keep it kid friendly for our eight year old. We had been looking into Adventures by Disney but the cruise ended up being a bit of a better deal and jumped on it. Thanks again for all the info. Will come in handy next time we are debating CL stays at WDW!

Wow that sounds wonderful. We just did Italy this Christmas and we loved it. I have to say now that the kids are getting older as much as they love Disney - they want to see the world (although we do love EPCOT :dogdance:). I had been to Italy several times but the kids had not - we really loved it - such delicious food. Your cruise sounds wonderful. Please come back to tell us how it was. Enjoy!

So we did a six-night stay in May at YC Club Level and loved it. This year I got a decent agency exclusive rate for Poly Club Level (again in May) but I keep second guessing not staying at YC. I really enjoyed the easy access to Epcot and we had wonderful service during our visit. Any thoughts on YC VS Poly Club Level?

Looking for some guidance! We have never stayed Club Level before but planning on upgrading from standard view to garden view club level at the Polynesian 7/3 - 7/12 2019 for our 10th anniversary. Will it be worth it?! Definitely on my bucket list to watch the Fourth of July fireworks from the Poly. Wondering if that justifies the price? Also a question on the Club Level extra fast pass option. Do I have to take and pay for the option for every night of our stay or can I pick say, 2 or 3 days of the extra fastpasses? Thanks in advance for any info!!

I would say yes if I only needed one room, but when we all go back next July 4th week, I booked two rooms at CSR. Even though we would fit in one room, it would be way too crowded.

When we just stayed at GF, we were able to eat all our meals at CL, there was so much food, so that was a savings. For that many nights though I would probably eat lunches out, having the same thing every day does get a bit redundant. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I also think if you like wine and beer, that's a big savings too, they will get you it whenever you ask, it doesn't have to be a certain time.

Your door may have been painted shut: when we were there, they were doing painting outside our balconies. They were *right there* if you pulled open the curtain.

Too bad about the musty smell. When we were in the main building, everything was exceptionally clean and no musty smell in our room. I saw workers cleaning constantly, even between the spindles on the railings. Probably the cleanest Disney hotel I have been in. And we liked the beds and had waffles on at least 2/5 days.

I guess ymmv even at GF!

Hope you have a great cruise :boat:.

OPINIONS, PLEASE! :yay:
Considering planning a short, four night CL stay with just hubby and I. This is in addition to our trip to OKW in the spring and another one we're planning to RPC with the kids in 2020 or 2021, lol.
We have stayed Sugarloaf and RPC and LOVE LOVE LOVE them, and want to stay in one of the MK area resorts, but I'm open to trying something different this time. I'd love an easy-breezy adult vacation style, so I think we'd eat in the lounge a lot more than last trip. Therefore, a great variety of CL offerings would be great! I would also like a quieter resort.
Considering:
1. Sugarloaf (Already know we were happy here and at RPC, quiet and nice food variety, but no view from SL lounge!)
2. Poly Standard CL (More limited and themed food offerings, concerned I wouldn't get a room with a balcony, probably not as quiet of a resort, but nice lounge view!)
3. WL Standard CL (Quiet but tiny balcony, wonderful but limited and very themed food offerings.)

P.S. Obviously the lounges that have the Mickey-shaped sugar 'cubes' take priority.
P.P.S. I have also at times considered BWI or CR for an adult trip... Any input there? I asked a CM via chat how to book the Tower Club and they said it doesn’t exist, lol!
THANK YOU in advance! :daisy:

If you are willing to venture away from the MK area, I would definitely consider BWI CL. I tried BWI CL for the first time in June and I loved everything about it! The lounge is small & quaint, the food offerings are great, and the CL CMs are very friendly and personable. I think BWI CL would be a great choice for a quiet adult vacation :goodvibes.

I think you’re onto something with BWI if you’re willing to give up the MK area. It’s an amazing place, and I think it works really well for an adults only trip!

:thumbsup2

Returned from our trip last night: 4 nights YC waterview Club Level & 3 nights GF RPC standard room.

Thanks for your review. Sorry that the GF was sort of sub-par compared to the YC, but hope you had a nice trip overall :).

:flower1:BWI CL FOOD vs. RPC/SL CL FOOD:flower1:
Has anyone done both to compare quality, quantity/ variety? I’ve only done RPC/SL and we loved it, but considering somewhere new. TIA!!!:flower:

P.S. Thanks for your BWI vote @mickeynut1 !
@Rachel GB I can wholeheartedly recommend BWI CL. We have stayed there a few times, it's a favorite.
We booked RPC for the first time in about 10 weeks. We are doing a split, 2 nights RPC and then we move to BWI CL. I will post my thoughts when we return.

Thanks so much, @gwynne ! I hear such great things about BWI CL! RPC was simply MAGICAL for me, hope you feel the same! I can't wait to hear how it goes for you.

I read a lot of great reports about BWI CL prior to my stay and I have to say they were all right on! It's been awhile since my RPC stay, but I must say BWI CL ranks right up there with RPC for me ;).

Good to know about them painting recently, I thought I was crazy not being able to open that door.

I also forgot to mention the fruit flies. On one of our other RPC stays, there were quite a few fruit flies around the food offerings. I am an RN & got crazy freaked out with bugs/ flies on my food. Just totally gross. I posted about it after my trip & no one else ever saw them. We went again about 4 years ago, no issues. Went to check the afternoon tea items after check in & guess what??? More fruit flies. I also saw them hanging around the breads for toasting the next morning. :sad2: Guess RPC & I are just not a good fit. :guilty:

Kind of opposite resorts and CL experiences, in my humble opinion.

First off, Poly and Poly CL is my favorite overall experience of the deluxe resorts. It just fits our style/what we want out of a Disney resort really, really well (I have two kids, 4 and 8, for context). I have more visits there than I should admit.

We tacked on a night to our Poly July trip at YC, first time there. I’m not sure if I was just worn down with Poly after 6 nights or was just falling for something new, but YC was instant :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9: for us. I liked it, DW liked it, kids liked it. DW is rarely opinionated about our Disney stays and even she was like “I like this place.” We already have a trip scheduled to go back.

I usually make our decissions based on location/purpose of trip first, deal/price second, CL third so sometimes that guides my decisions... so YC doesn’t really work all that well for us if it’s a MK-heavy trip (location trumps CL favoritism for me, under most circumstances).

Anyway, that’s not much help I know... happy to answer any questions!

Hi there. We stayed Poly CL the last two 7/4 weeks, so maybe I can help. My avatar is the fireworks view from the Hawaii building (which is the CL building at Poly, if you didn’t know that).

In my opinion, it’s a GREAT choice for 7/4. They have a special viewing area on the beach reserved for CL guests, see below. This is a great amenity for folks with Garden View rooms.

The location of the Hawaii building is great in terms of quick access to the beach and both pools. You’re right in the middle of the fun on special days like 7/3 and 7/4. Not sure if you partake, but the Poly beer fridge is kind of convenient on a fun holiday as well. :-)

Here’s a fun pic since you have me looking at my 7/4 pics (technically taken from my TPV room).

Happy to answer any questions!

Oh, almost forgot... on the Extra CL FP thing... you have to purchase a three day minimum... but other than that, no restrictions. You can have a 10 night stay and just book 3 days. IMHO, I’d recommend just doing it a few days out of your 10 - it can kind of be hard to plan!

Thank you so much @emmabelle and @GADisneyDad14 for the great info! Went ahead and booked CL today! I am very excited and thinking that 3 days of the extra fastpasses would be plenty. You are right, I am already seeing how much planning that will take but might be worth it at the beginning of our trip due to the holiday. Thanks again!!

Nice choice!

Yeah, I did three days of Extra FPs over FP and that was plenty. Even then I didn’t actually use them all (I know, major waste). Granted we have APs and go a few times a year so we don’t usually “have” to do certain rides, I mainly just got it to bypass the tiers at HS, Epcot, and AK.

Just a small note to hedge expectations if they change or cancel the Extra FP program. It was introduced as a trial but no end date has ever been noted. I keep worrying it could taken away at any time.

Happy planning. There is a lot of Poly CL knowledge on this thread, so stick around!

Enjoy the planning! Hope you have a great trip :goodvibes.

Yahoo! Just booked are resorts for next spring. We picked 3 nites CTR garden wing, 6 nites BWI club level and 4 nites at GF sugar loaf. I am very tempted to change CTR Garden to a club level also. We have never stayed at both the CTR or BWI. So looking forward to this sister trip. She has never been there during flower and Garden.

Sounds like a great trip, I love Disney at spring time. I can't comment on CR CL, but I loved BWI CL! Have fun planning, hope you have a great sister trip :wizard:.
