Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

OK, I'll finish out my trilogy of novels with my review of the CR Atrium Club level, with the relevant room and CL portions copied from the CR thread. I left out the parts relating to the resort in general, such as pools, restaurants, etc, they are all over on the CR page.

We recently got back from a 12 night stay at WDW, with the last 4 nights (June 18-22) at the CR SV Atrium CL. . For some background (for those who haven't read it 4 times already), we are a family of 6. It is me, my DH, DS8, DS5, and twin DSs 16 months. We stayed at the CR SV Atrium Club level once before, for 6 nights over Christmas 2016, and had an amazing stay. This trip we tried something new and did a 3 way split stay (we had never even split 2 ways before), and initially I had wanted to stay at the GF RPC for our MK portion but my DS8 loved the CR and we thought the ability to walk to the MK was great (and in addition I never saw RPC at a price we would have been willing to pay anyway!)

*We packed our stuff at the BC and called for bell services to take it and move it to the CR around 10:30, then I went to the CL Concierge to check out. While there I asked if she could check us in to the CR as well (I did not do online check in) and she was able to. That was a tidbit I had picked up when we checked into the BC, and I was so glad to have found out we could do that. Our room at the CR was actually ready! However, we had plans for the day so it didn't really matter. If I hadn't planned our switch days our rooms would never have been ready so early, I am confident of that!
*When we pulled into the self parking lot and were getting out of the car I had such a good feeling, and I realized it was a "it's the start of my disney vacation feeling". It was kind of a let down when I realized we were actually at the tail end of our trip! There is just something about the MK resorts that resonate with me - be it comfort and familiarity since we've stayed there the most, or since the MK seems like the heart of WDW, or what I don't know, but that really hit home on the trip that was split between the Epcot area and the MK area. We had already been there 8 nights, and had had great times at SAB and been the DHS and Epcot multiple times, as well as DAK, but when I first hit the MK area and saw the castle it kind of felt like the trip was finally beginning. I know it doesn't make much sense, and it is difficult to explain, but I'm trying. We definitely loved the other portion of our trip, this obvious ability to contrast both areas just pointed out to me that I do have a preference.
*We went up to the 12th floor, our MB did work for that, and stopped at the concierge desk basically just because I have always checked in in person. The CM didn't really seem to know why we had stopped if we knew our room number, and didn't give us any info at all such as the activity guide, phone numbers to their desk, text number, hours in the lounge, anything. If we hadn't been there before we would have had no idea, but I can't remember for sure, she may have asked if it was our first time.
*we were in room 4803. So again we didn't get my request, but at the CR it isn't a big deal since all of the rooms on one side of the resort have essentially the same view. I had requested a room on the north (MK) end of the resort with secondary requests of closer to the lounge and odd numbered room, simply because I noticed last time you got a wonderful view of Astro orbiter and space mt through the large glass windows at the end of the CR as you walked down the hall to your room on the north end. Last time our room was on the south end, and we had no real view other than the road to the CR and MK walking to the room. Plus we were 3 rooms from the end of the hall. Again, since it's the CR and no rooms are very far away it didn't matter, I was splitting hairs with that request. Then I found out that I had actually screwed up with the odd numbered room request. I could have sworn that I read somewhere on here that in order to face the WL instead of BLT when laying in bed you should request an odd numbered room, and that is what I wanted. Another not huge deal, but I would rather see the sky and trees and the WL from the bed than a big tower. So we did get the odd numbered room, and the bed faced BLT. I guess I should have looked into that a little more before requesting it. That was a long winded way of saying I made 3 requests and one was met, and it turned out that I screwed up and actually wanted the opposite of the request I made that was met o_O
*The room was exactly as I remembered it, but no yellow pillows any more. In my everyday life the CR decor would be too modern and stark for me, but at the actual CR it works wonderfully and I love it! It is noticeably bigger than the YC and BC, but not as much as I had thought it would be. I do like the daybed, even though we don't need it. We also have no need for the large glass desk that takes up the corner of the room between the bed and the bathroom, but we use the counter space and used under it for storage. I like the lit mantle area, it was really nice when we were there at Christmas and we actually hung stockings over it.
*The bathroom setup is different, with the toilet in it's own separate rather large room with a hamper (with a pocket door), and the sinks and tub together with a sliding door to close them off. It works for us as a young family, when the boys are older I think I will prefer the ones that have the sinks outside the shower so I can get ready at the sinks while they shower and vice versa. I do like the toilet separate, I would just have the shower separate from the sinks as well or have the shower with the toilet like a lot of disney resorts do. I agree with everyone else - the sinks are weird and not functional. The entire sink actually doesn't slope down to the drain, so water pools in it instead of draining. I would dump a diet coke and then the sink would be brown if I didn't work to rinse it out. Same with toothpaste spitting! Just odd. We did tend to use one for holding stuff, but not officially, I would just sit things in it as long as the edges were dry. They match the decor of the room well, and look good (not my personal taste at home, but again I like them in this setting), but someone should have tested them out before buying them for the entire resort! I also like the towel rack here, it looks good and holds plenty of towels.
*There were lots of toiletries. A 3 oz bottle of sunscreen, mouthwash, solar gel, foot rub, shower cap, vanity kit, lotion, 2 sizes of bar soap, and 2 bottles each or shampoo and conditioner. There were replenished every day (except for the sunscreen, shower cap, and vanity kit), and when I asked for extra conditioner I got plenty. We do tip $10 a day as we go, I never know if that makes a difference or not.
*we had a welcome plate in our room that had a chocolate covered strawberry, a white chocolate covered strawberry, 2 macarons, 2 decorative chocolates, and welcome spelled in chocolate syrup. It was accompanying the note that welcomed our family to the resort. it didn't say anything about a special celebration, or a return stay, or anything, it seemed to be just because. It was a very nice touch, i was very impressed.
*we also got a welcome box of chocolate, the same as before. A larger piece with a color picture of the CR on it and 3 smaller pieces below it. We didn't get any welcome gifts at the YC or BC.
*The view from the room is amazing. This is the one resort that as long as I am staying CL I prefer the bay lake view. It is so peaceful and beautiful, I can't believe it's the standard view! There is no parking lot and essentially no roads in sight, the pools are pretty, the lake is beautiful, and you can see the water parade at night. I know it isn't exciting, and I'm sure it's just nostalgia, but I love seeing it from our resort and even better from the room. I prefer it from here than even from the poly - the arial view is different and more impressive IMO. Then, since it's CL and a relatively small one at that, you can just watch HEA and see the MK view from the lounge any time you want. If I weren't staying CL I do think I would want a MK view to be able to see HEA from the room, but with it in the lounge to me it's just as good and you get the best of both worlds. In fact I did see a MKV atrium club level come up for our dates with the same discount and wasn't even tempted (I can't remember the price difference).
*I even love the view as you exit the room. There's something special about seeing that classic tiered view of all of the halls opposite you,and the monorail below. I really think i would miss that if we ever stay in the Tower Club. Don't get me wrong, i would be willing to try it and find out, but I would miss that aspect :teeth:.
*we could faintly hear the Chef Mickey song when we were in the hall, and possibly a little from the room if you focused on it and tried, but absolutely nothing that would make me say don't stay on that end of the resort because of it.
*The CL lounge here has a very open feel particularly the initial portion that is beside the food service area. It isn't that large, but despite that we never had any problem finding a table. In fact, I think every time we went to the lounge we were able to get one of the 2 or 3 tables right there, and not have to go around the divider into the other area. It never felt crowded to me.
*the food service area is pretty small compared to all other CLs. One curved counter.
*Breakfast was pretty standard, no extras like crepes, etc. They did have oatmeal, which was the only hot item. Their hard boiled eggs had a little dollup of something on top making them a little like deviled eggs, they were good. The also had the typical pastries, bagels, bread, varied sliced meat, yogurt. I love the chocolate pastries, all 3 CLs had a couple of variations and they were all good. The cheese and fruit filled ones were good also. At home I would never eat 2 pastries plus something else for breakfast every morning, but at Disney I always do. Have to get my money's worth!!:D
*snacks were also pretty basic. I small make your own trail mix type of thing, with little baggies and ties to put it in. They had goldfish, generic M&Ms, gummy bears, pretzels, yogurt covered pretzels, and something I can't remember, Also veggies and dip, bread sticks, and cookies.
*appetizers were good, but not as plentiful as the YC or BC. They had a soup that was off to the left and often seemed overlooked. They had a salad and a hot item and a second hot item that seemed more kid friendly. 2 nights that was mac n cheese, and it was very good! The salad was good also, and they had pork with mushrooms and polenta one night. That night (the pork, a salad with artichokes/tomatoes/olives/cheese/etc, and mac n cheese plus veggies, bread sticks, etc we ended up easily making dinner out of it for all 6 of us. the other 3 nights we had dinner plans, or we actually could have done the same.
*one night I asked about Gluten free options, and the CM immediately went to the back room and a chef came out within a minute or 2. She knew immediately what was GF and what wasn't, and actually everything except the obvious (mac n cheese, crackers, bread sticks) was GF! So that night my DH and 2 sons with a gluten allergy were able to eat essentially what the rest of us did in the lounge without a hassle, long wait, etc. It was nice. That chef was great, she obviously knew what she was serving and what was in all of it. Night and day from the chef at the YC CL when we asked about GF there.
*There were not nearly as many dessert options as at the YC and BC, but they varied nightly which was nice. They would have one dessert that was in a small glass dish, 3 individual desserts, and cookies. I tried most of them, they were good. Not the best ever, but pretty typical for Cl desserts. They did not have anything special, like bread pudding, warm apple pies, cobbler, etc. My kids weren't thrilled with them, the really only liked the cookies and even then they weren't that excited.
*they brought the alcohol out at 5:00, and the first night I happened to be there right at 5:00 and wanted wine for my DH and I before dinner. I stood and waited for the girl to come back and get it for me when she came back with the beer, and when she came out she seemed surprised that I was waiting and got me a sparkling wine and another for my DH. I figured out later that you are to serve yourself at the CR, and I had assumed they had to serve me and I would have gotten "reprimanded" if I had done it myself. She must have thought I wasn't willing to do it myself!
* the drink fridge here was my DSs favorite of all of the Club lounges by far - it was as if it was made for him. The had minute maid lemonade, apple juice boxes, and orange fanta. Compared to the others, where they didn't keep anything in the fridge he would like, here they had 3 of his favorites. They also had Diet Coke, caffeine free diet coke, coke, and BOTTLED WATER. In all of my CL stays this is the first time I have stayed in one at a time they have the elusive bottled water. They might have also had sprite, and possibly more. I didn't take a picture and I just remember what we liked, not everything else.
*The CL CMs were more interactive with us than at the YC and BC. They made a little more small talk, chatted, etc. They weren't overboard with the warm and friendly, but they clearly tried to greet guests, say hello, etc. I kind of liked it. I don't want to feel like someone is monitoring me, or being sugary sweet and not meaning it, but they had just the right level of interaction without being annoying.
*after we came back from dinner the first night out MBs didn't work on our room. So I tried all of ours, and found out that all of my DS5s MBs worked but no one else's would. Interesting, this was a different son from the son whose MBs were the only ones to work at the BC :confused3. So I went down to the CL concierge, and she actually had trouble getting them set to work on our room and elevator as well. It was decently close to 10:00, and she only got a couple working. She said she couldn't keep them and bring them back to us since it was over a night with a different shift in the AM, and that we should come back in the AM. However, we had plans to be at the MK at opening in the AM, and between getting 4 kids ready and never getting enough sleep, and knowing based on experience how long it would take, there was no way I was doing that at 7:00 AM. We knew that the MBs all worked for admission and charging, just not our room. So we wore the MBs we wanted, making sure we had one that opened the room door, and didn't get them re-programed. We actually never did during our CR stay, we just made sure we always had one that worked on the room and elevator with us. It didn't seem worth wasting ANOTHER 30-60 min getting them all working for the 3rd resort.

As if I haven't changed our reservations enough times, I made another change today... a week out from our arrival on 7/6.

Original reservation: 3 nights AKL CL, followed by one night GF RPC

New reservation: 1 night standard view AKL, 2 nights Poly GV CL, 1 night GF RPC

Overall plan:
Day 1: Arrival to AKL (estimating 11am via DME), AK from about 4-10:30pm
Day 2: Switch to Poly CL in the morning, resort day, DAH from probably 6:30pm-1am
Day 3: HS morning, resort for the rest of the day (we'll get to enjoy that Poly view of HEA!)
Day 4: Hop on the monorail over to GF RPC in the morning, resort day, DAH from 6:30pm-1am
Day 5: Enjoy GF RPC all day, DME won't be picking us up until around 7pm

We decided to downgrade to a standard room on arrival day. The more we thought about it, it really didn't make any sense to pay for CL when that day we'll be missing breakfast by the time we get there, plus evening apps & desserts when we are at AK for the night. After our AK night, we have two Disney After Hours events, so it makes sense to be closer to MK. Plus, well, it's the Poly! It was calling to me... :rolleyes1

Between having the CL lounges and it being just the two of us (adults), I'm pretty optimistic about the resort hopping, although this might sound crazy to some people.

Any room request recs for Poly?

So, YC CL vs BC CL vs CR Atrium CL, after staying in them all in one trip in that order.

YC CL and BC CL are so similar they almost seem like the same CL, with slightly different lounges. The YC feels a bit stuffier and proper, the BC has an odd setup but more seating and a much bigger serving area. I would have to say aesthetically I preferred the YC, but practically the BC is better with simply more room all around. The food and offerings are essentially the same, so no difference there. I also give a slight edge to the YC for not having the 2 main doors to the lounge flank the CM desks, but I imagine that might not matter to most people. I'm not really sure I can pick a preference lounge wise, but resort wise and room wise I prefer the YC hands down, and as I said before that surprised me because before staying at both I would have thought I would have much preferred the BC.

So to compare the YC/BC CL with the CR CL.

Lounge wise, the CR wins hands down. The view is spectacular, and there are 3 balconies to use and watch HEA from or just take in the Mk view. The lounge is very open to the common area from when you get off the elevator, and despite being a bit dark in coloring is brightened up by the windows and openness. The YC and BC have no views, and are more or less just rooms that feel closed in. There is no wow factor to the YC/BC lounges, there is to the CR lounge. Overall it is more modern than my typical taste, but it works for me at the CR even though I wouldn't choose it in my own home.

Food wise is harder. For variety and volume the clear winner are the YC/BC. They have a hot item that rotates for breakfast, the CR does not. Snacks at the CR are very basic, they have more out at the YC/BC (but still nothing that would make a light lunch, like the newer wraps the Poly has). There are a lot more apps at the YC/BC, the CR only had one salad and 2 hot items (I think one was considered more kid friendly), the YC had more than one salad and a couple of hot items, plus more extra items on a regular basis like the cheese, crackers, veggies, PB&J, etc. They both had things like the cheese, etc, the YC/BC just had more. However, the CR did have a soup which I personally like, I'm a soup girl. I am more so in the winter, though, But the soup is a plus for me. For dessert, the YC/BC had more but they were the same every night, even my DS8 and DS5 noticed this and said they were pretty tired of the choices after we left. The CR had less choices, but they changed them nightly and I thought they were better. So for breakfast and snacks I think the YC/BC was better, for dessert even though there were more at the YC/BC I think I give the edge to the CR for quality and variation nightly. For apps it's hard, but I think the YC/BC is better. Having said that, the CR choices were very good, there just weren't as many choices on a nightly basis. None of them had a chef plating or cooking, the only chef interaction was they would occasinally come out to the food servng area for some reason, or simply to help out.

For alcohol, I have to say I didn't pay much attention to the choices, but they both had a variety of white and red wines and a sparkling wine. Neither my DH or I drink beer, so i didn't pay any attention to that. For me personally I prefer the CR since you pour your own, but it was never a problem to have them pour at the YC or BC. Neither one had beer out starting at noon like the Poly does, at the CR the beer is not in a fridge it is just on ice. It is in a fridge at the YC, but you had to ask the CM who was serving wine for one I actually didn't notice it at the BC, I assume it was in a fridge somewhere.

The CR has more non alcoholic options in its little fridge, the YC/BC only had diet coke, coke, sprite, and ginger ale (I think). Also, the CR had bottled water. So edge CR.

All 3 had small children's areas, all about the same size. My kids gravitated toward all 3 of them, probably because of the TVs. They were similar - 3 or 4 kids sized chairs, a table or 2, and a TV with the Mickey cartoons or the Disney Channel on. I think they were all about equal, and my kids generally had no problem sitting there when we went to the lounge A couple of times they shared with another child or siblings, but often they were the only ones there.

CMs. I thought the CMs at the CR were a little better, they had a very good balance of friendliness without being annoying or overbearing. There was a little more mixing of the food and desk CMs at the CR than at the YC/BC. A few times at the YC I had trouble getting a CM to help me with food/drinks, I had no real issues at all at the BC. Really I didn't have to ask for much this stay, other than for help getting our MBs working with the CMs at the desk. So for the desk CMs there was just one at the BC that rubbed me the wrong way for the lecture she gave me on how I should only have 1 MB per person, so that colored my whole interaction with the desk CMs poorly. At the CR one CM helped me carry a tray of food to the room when I had the kids, then returned with silverware and napkins, and then later in the stay the same one had to check on a package for me and went down to the gift shop herself. I had kind of been expecting her to tell me to check myself in the gift shop, which I would have done but I figured since I'm staying CL and the packages are supposed to come to the room I'll just stop and ask first.

Overall, none of them are "bad", but I prefer the CR Atrium CL. It's open, had a wonderful view, was never crowded, and I thought the CMs were pretty spot on. They didn't totally wow me, but they also were good and there were no real poor interactions like there were at the YC/BC. Even though the food area was smaller at the CR, I thought the food was good and held its own to the YC/BC even with their larger variety.

We enjoyed all 3 stays, but I think that we might return to the YC, probably won't return to the BC, and will likely return to the CR. I would like to say that list also applies to the Club levels at those resorts, but as soon as my twins turn 3 we won't be able to stay in regular rooms so our club levels will be limited to the deluxe rooms at the WL and BWI, both of which hold 6 people. If we end up getting 2 rooms at a deluxe it probably won't be CL, and I don't see us ever paying for a suite, so we're trying to soak in as many "last times" at as many Club levels as I can convince my DH to allow! With our BC CL stay we have now stayed at all of the Deluxe resorts, and have stayed Cl at all but the AKL and BWI (we've also never stayed at Sugarloaf or the Tower Club) I imagine we'll get the BWI at some point because of the deluxe rooms, the AKL seems unlikely unless my DH and I come alone for a weekend, and then we would probably want a MK resort or an Epcot resort for convenience, or a value or moderate to make it a "cheap trip". But you just never know!

Great info @ninafeliz
Incredibly helpful to compare those 3 like that.
We'd stayed BC CL so I know exactly what you mean. Matter of fact, when we stayed there, folks came over from YC and I almost got the impression that some where using both CL, though no one ever told us that we could. But the ones who came from YC made it clear that that's where they were from and no CM said anything so I don't know. But even they said, the offerings were the same.
And your review has solidified my choice to stay put at Poly CL. I think for this trip it will suit DH and I more. We tend to eat a at lot of services in the lounges and it just sounds like the Poly offerings will be more in line of our preferences.
We'll hit the CR CL sometime later, probably on our Fall trip.

As to the 2 you haven't done, BWI and AKL, they are two of my favorites. BWI being my ultimate #1. Which is why we are returning for our 3rd stay in a row there! We were there in April, May/June and now July. Their staff is very special to me. Love their chef set up too. Hope you get to try it out soon. Right now, AKL has the chef too, though theirs is much less interactive.

Just finishing our stay at CR Atrium CL after being at BC CL for the other part of the week. CR Tower views are great as always, especially from the lounge. Watched fireworks from the balcony there our first night.
Food was good, especially the soups and steak strips last night. We did like the BC food offerings more (kids missed the mini ice cream from BC ) and BC had more seating but no real views.
Mini water bottles in lounge fridge and the welcome drink was good.
CR felt a little more stuffy for us, but the staff were cordial and everything was maintained well.
Our mousekeeping left us an amazing towel monkey hanging from the slider curtain last night that was a huge hit with the kids.
Had a great split stay and would stay at either again walking to MK or Epcot can't be beat!

How are Theme Park Views in main building Grand Floridian? We are traveling Dec 9-15th - In a perfect scenario we would stay main building but it is not available our whole stay so currently I have a Sugar Loaf reservation.

I was playing around online this morning and I can get a main building theme park view for our first night or last night...would it be worth it to pack up and move rooms for one night? We have 3 little ones and spend a lot of time using the lounge as we are not open to close park people

We will be staying at GF (not CL however) Dec 23-30 and then moving over to the Poly CL from Dec 30 - Jan 6!!! First time at either resort. super excited! A little worried about food choices for one of my daughters (has ASD and many aversions) but we will manage! There's always chicken nuggets in the QS!

Sounds like a great trip you have planned! The Poly & GF are two of my favs. Hope you have a great time :wizard:.

That's a lot of moving, but among 3 awesome resorts! I can't help with room suggestions as we've never stayed Poly CL, but wanted to say I hope you have a great trip :).

Great reviews! Thanks for sharing about your experiences and comparing the resorts/CLs :flower3:.

Hi all! checking in at Poly CL in a month:sunny::sunny: :dogdance::dogdance:

Hope you have a great time! :yay:

I personally wouldn't move for just one night, but that's just me. If you did decide to do the split, I'd spend the end of my trip in RPC. Having stayed both RPC and SL, I wouldn't want to move from RPC to SL (just my opinion). Good luck! :)

It's a bucket list item of mine. We got incredibly lucky to snag a CL room in the tower over the 4th. All I wanted was a Tower MK view room but this room type was all we could get with the military discount in the tower, so we couldn't pass it up!

We have a CR Tower CL reservation this summer. We all can't wait to try it as well. Let us know what you think. Enjoy!

@ninafeliz Thank you so much for all of your reviews. We feel the same way - we thought we would like the BC over the YC and we did not. We felt more welcome at the YC although I do wish their lounge was bigger. For us - the BWI is the best CL for us that we don't give the BC or YC a chance. Thanks again.

I have stayed at all three, CL, and by FAR the BWI was my least favorite. BC was my favorite. YC did absolutely nothing for me. We are returning to BC CL in one week and can't wait to be back there. It's so funny how people have such different experiences. I will say, I am a major introvert and get accused of being a "not nice woman" a lot because I can come off very curt and direct. The BC crew were my favorite because they weren't all in my face syrupy sweet and conversational. I appreciated that they were there to do a job and I never had any negative interactions. At BWI, though, the CMs would just hover and ask questions and constantly try to engage when I just wanted some peace and quiet. It was annoying, and I found the food offerings to be overly pretentious and too similar of a theme (everything was Mediterranean themed...).

Got to WL CL today. I've only stayed AKL CL before and loved it, but they were nowhere near close to the service here.
Greeted on arrival with sign, led up, explained things, led to room, welcome chocolates, turn down chocolates, yummy food, very friendly CMs.
Off to a good start.
Only had the 5-7 food today. The Shepherd pie was really good. Also was some kind of soup, Chinook salmon lemon cup thing, shrimp in cocktail sauce cup, kids ziti, cheese ,& crackers type things, some pb&j thing,
No offense to AKL CL because I loved it, but I really had no idea what club level service could be from it- this is awesome service here.

I have Poly gv cl this week. I usually prefer 3rd for gv side but after trying a lv 1st I realized I like that floor too.

2nd floor no balcony but honestly it will be hot and that lounge is a nicer place to hang out. I love th 3rd floor lounge too with its bathroom up there:)
Oh also 2nd is nice because you can walk to lounge without needed stairs/elevator. So really all 3 good options.

Anything else let me know, I have stayed at all of those. (Rpc was last month and dec)

Sounds like a great trip!

Woohoo!

For us - the BWI is the best CL for us that we don't give the BC or YC a chance.

BC/YC CL was always on my list to try, but after reading sub-par reviews over time, they quickly came off that list. Now, after having my first BWI CL stay a few weeks ago, I definitely have no desire to try BC/YC. I found BWI CL to be amazing and one I will definitely return to ;).

I agree with the bolded part as our BWI CL stay was nothing like yours. The CMs were wonderful and we did interact with them a lot during our stay, but they never hovered over us. They would say hello/good morning and/or ask how our day was going, but unless we engaged/continued in conversation with them, they never crowded us. I'm sorry you had a not-so-great experience at BWI, but glad you found a CL you enjoy. Hope you have a great time at BC CL next week :wizard:.

Thanks for checking in! Glad you're having a great time and enjoying WL CL :goodvibes.
