Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Hi everyone! We’re planning an extended family trip in mid-Jan 2020 (either second or third week, TBD). Booking through a TA and likely planning BC, but YC would also be fine if it comes up with better pricing! We basically want a deluxe resort with the most reasonable pricing we can find and good theming and kid friendly. I have stayed at BC without kids and I think my kids would LOVE Stormalong Bay!

We will have 2 grandparents, a family of 4 with kids 8 & 5 (mine), and another family of 4 with kids 6 & 4, and an additional grandmother staying with the third group. 11 total people. We’re most likely booking 3 standard view rooms and requesting connecting where possible, but I was wondering if the friendly folks on here know of any other room configurations that might be good for us to consider?

Also, not sure if anyone would know this, but is it going to be difficult for us to get both connecting standard view rooms plus full balconies? With the young kids, we were hoping to be able to put the kids to sleep and be able to hang out with other adults on a balcony or in a connecting room. For this reason, if getting both is tough at BC with all the Juliet balconies, I was wondering if we should book YC instead.

I’d appreciate any insights!
Getting rooms with full balconies will be more difficult at the BC than the YC. I think most rooms at YC have a full balcony or patio. I think there may be a small percentage that don't or ones that share that grand balcony. Connecting rooms or rooms close together are always a wild card. You may get your request granted or not. Would you consider renting points and staying at the BCVs? This may give you more flexibility with room configurations, plus you're guaranteed a full balcony or patio. Maybe two 2BR Villas or a 2 BR Villa and a studio? If I interpret your OP correctly it looks like you have a total of 11 guests? A 2 BR villa sleeps 8 and a studio can accommodate 5. You would have to be more flexible and creative with the 2BR and studio configuration, whereby the two 2BR Villas would be easier [but more costly] for your needs. Again, in this situation there's no guarantee that the villas would be next to each other. Good luck with any decision you make!

We’ve thought about that. What’s holding me back is that we’d pretty much be locked in for dates, or at least it’s more difficult to change dates as you are having the person you rent from use their points for you. It will be the first time this group is going together and with so many people, I’m nervous about losing any flexibility with dates. But maybe it’s worth looking further into, thank you!

Don’t think this was posted here yet....but read in a FB group that the new cabanas offer a 15% AP discount. Just a heads up for any passholder looking to book (or who already did and paid full price!!)
Thank you for this. I was able to call back and have the discount applied!!

YC has a few standard rooms on each floor that share a large balcony. Those rooms might be ideal for your group. I am not sure about which of those rooms have connecting doors. You could request connecting rooms with shared balcony. It is only a request, but I bet not too many people actually request the shared balcony.

Oh great idea, thank you!

The BC/YC room pic thread has pics of these rooms. They are "Standard" rooms and located above the Porte Cochere. The balcony is shared and it's huuuuuge. More like a terrace than a balcony, really. It would be a request, though, you can't book these specific rooms.

Can anyone tell me the best way to submit a room request? I just started on-line check-in, but there are only a few drop-down options for room requests. I am an incredibly light sleeper, so what I really want is a quiet room.

The best way is to call and have them put your requests on your reservation

I was once assigned one of those rooms at the BC. The view was not terrible for a Standard view, but the noises from the Magical Express, arriving/departing at all hours, and the families waiting outside with impatient kids at very early hours got to me, after awhile. The noises travelled, due to all of the hard surfaces outside. Every time the motor coach applied the brakes or a vehicle backed up triggering the beep, beep, beep noise, I had to bury my head under a pillow. I am an early riser, but those noises occurred both late at night and very early in the morning. If you are sound sleepers, the noises may not bother you.

My room was on the far left end of the balcony. I never saw anyone from the the other guest rooms, who shared the balcony.

For the better views, I recommend a high floor, otherwise, the roof may get in the way of your view. Most of the view will be of the front drive, bus stops, and parking areas. However, the view is better, off in the distance, when on a higher floor.

We're staying club level and I'm wondering if I should do online check in. I've been reading about a special check in area for club level so wondering if that makes online check in obsolete.

Am I crazy for already wanting to start to pack for my March 21st trip? haha...I've had this trip booked since last May and I'm starting to go crazy waiting!

We go to WDW pretty often so I have one bag that is just always packed with my WDW stuff. I will wash my bathing suit/wrap when I get home from a trip and into the bag it goes, I have my beach bag in there, flip flops for myself and DH, our MBs and the bags that we bring to the parks (when we bring bags), etc., when I have a trip coming up I only need to pack clothes for that specific trip and put my travel toiletries bag in and we are set to go.

We went out this weekend to start purchasing things like sunscreen, cold/pain meds, hand sanitizers and so on. All those things we make sure we have on every trip. I'm in the northeast so I won't be needing any of the clothes i'd be wearing in Orlando so I probably could pack pretty much everything. I'll probably be able to hold off for a little bit longer but once my magicbands arrive in the mail I don't think I'll be able to hold back.

They will take you up to the 5th floor when you arrive. We did online check in but still talked to the desk in club level because it was our first club level stay.

Just curious, did you stop at the front desk first and then they escorted you up, or was someone waiting out front for you upon arrival?

Hi friends! We are on the airplane headed to being our stay at the Yacht Club! I logged into MDE and see that we were assigned a "WATER VIEW" room with no room number or anything. We booked standard (im sure of it). Is there a chance this actually could NOT be standard? Wat are "waterview rooms"? Do they typically have a view of the pool or of the lake in front of the YC back entrance? Thank everyone! Just curious! Thanks!!

The one time I've been assigned an upgraded room type over what I booked, the upgraded view category showed up on the app (in the info about the room) day-of check in, before the room number. My guess is it sounds like you've been upgraded to a Water View room. Enjoy!

We were upgraded to a gorgeous water view on our October trip. Enjoy the pixie dust!
