Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Page 1266-1267

Just booked our Christmas vacation at Yacht Club Dec. 20th-24th. We have never stayed there and we have not been during the holidays in about 10 years. So definitely looking forward to it! I booked a water view room. Has anyone requested a King room and been successful?...

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

Does anyone know if they're still doing Trivia Evenings at Martha's Vineyard and, if so, on what day(s) of the week please?

Great question!

I don't know, but I have a friend at the resort now, I'll see if he can ask.

Do you have an upcoming trip?

:thumbsup2

I just booked a VERY short stay, just Dh and I at YC in early December! I've always wanted to visit Disney at Christmas time--I've been in early November when the Christmas decorations are just starting, and at the beginning of January when they are starting to come down, but I'e never been in the middle of the season when it's been in full effect.
We will be doing a MVMCP but other than that, no parks. We plan to spend our time visiting different resorts and seeing all the pretty decorations, and going to Jellyrolls one night!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the list!

:cheer2:

Do you happen to kno ho much the kids buffet is?

:welcome: to the forum!

The online menus were not updated when I looked a couple of days ago. I'll see if I can find out.

Hi Dee

Just booked the YC for the second half of our Thanksgiving stay following our stay at Universal ‘s HRH from 11/18-11/22.
Our YC dates are 11/ 22- 11/25.
We stayed at the BC last year and loved it so much.
We’re checking in Thanksgiving Day and just booked our dinner at Yachtsman :cool1:

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list!

YUM!

:goodvibes

Ha! I return to this thread, click on the last page, and this is the first post I see! Love it!!! Happy to join you!

We arrive Sat July 21 for our stay at the BC. So excited since our last trip was 10 years ago. Being able to walk easily to Epcot and HS (even though it sounds a bit farther) was one of the main reasons we booked at BC. That and the great pool area! Can’t wait to be there!!!

:welcome: to the thread!

I'll add your trip to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

Glad you had a great time at BC CL. Lucky that you are headed back before Christmas! Very jealous.

We returned home on July 5th from our 2 week trip where we spent 8 nights at BC - I'm just now getting back into the swing of the real world! I just wanted to give a quick review on the BC part of our stay. We checked into the BC on June 27th around 9:30AM, we got our room ready text at 12:30PM. We had a standard view booked, we got room 3714, it was 2 queens and a sleeper sofa. We did get a full balcony as requested (that makes 4 out of 4 trips we've gotten that request) but nowhere near the location I requested. The view was so bad though (roof and parking lot), we never used the balcony. We've always gotten lucky in the past with good/great views so I knew it was only a matter of time before our luck changed! It was a connecting room and faced the parking lot, but we rarely heard the neighbors and the noise out front wasn't bad. The bathroom was rather filthy when we checked in, the mirrors had toothpaste splatters, the toilet was dirty on the front and there was a dirty towel hanging in the bathroom! After a few tries they finally got the toilet cleaned and housekeeping was fine during our stay. We did speak to the housekeeping manager and ended up with a few fastpasses and a half night's room credit. We requested turn down service and early housekeeping (prior to noon) for our stay and received it every day, except one. Bus service was fine as always, we did have to stand a couple of times on the way to MK. We had a wonderful breakfast at Cape May, they've added some new items to the buffet and they were all very good. Character interaction was wonderful, we were the first family there and Minnie Mouse escorted us to our table to the delight of DD (and myself!). Dinner at CM was fine. Our meal at Yachtsman wasn't great unfortunately, they overcooked my steak, then undercooked it, then overcooked it again. We were very impressed with our meal at Ale and Compass. We snagged a last minute ADR there after getting rained out from the pool at lunch. I had a flatbread, DH had a burger and DD had the kid's ravioli. Everything was excellent. The kids' meal ice cream macaroons were fabulous and very impressive for a kids' meal dessert. It was our 2nd favorite meal of the trip (Sanaa was our favorite). I thought we would be a fan of the Freestyle Coke machines at the marketplace, but we found that they didn't work great most of the time causing long lines for drinks. Also the drinks sometimes tasted a bit off. We found the pool to be much more crowded than in the past. We got there right at opening one day and there was a line about 15 deep, we've never seen a line at opening before. One of the lifeguards asked DD if she wanted to go on a scavenger hunt for the pirate flag to hoist over SAB, she had a lot of fun with that! Poolside servers, food and drinks were all very good as usual. Overall we had a nice stay, but it was a little "meh" compared to our stays in the last few years and we all agreed that we are ready to give BC a break for a while, but I'm sure we'll be back someday! DD is wanting to try the YC side so we may do that next year, or maybe just try something new altogether.

Regarding the cleanliness of the rooms at the YC/BC, do check everything in the room. Just as I was reaching for a clean towel next to the sink, after washing my hands shortly after checking into the room, my eye caught something on the front of the hanging towel - a hair! It was clearly not from my party. I asked a CM if all towels are replaced when a room is turned, or if hanging towels are left in place for the next guests. I was told that all towels are supposed to be replaced, when the room is vacated. I was asked if more towels were needed. I moved the towel to the floor and was glad that the hair was visible, before the towel was used.

This was at BC CL.

I have a pretty scathing email to the general WDW guest communications email address that I need to write regarding the utter unusability of the MDE app and the several issues we encountered due to the system going down numerous times during our trip. Not to mention the inability to utilize Mobile Order more than one time in 10 days (I would get a message that "mobile order is not available at this location at this time " while watching people with iPhones place and pick up orders right in front of me (I have an android phone). This was SO irritating, especially since Mobile Order works flawlessly at Disneyland and never gives me any issues.
Oh my god, yes. I'm glad I wasn't the only one! I was worried it was just my phone but I also played games on it (like the Parks Play app) all weekend and those worked fine. I have to say that I have an iPhone so it wasn't just Android. My MDE app BARELY worked all weekend. I tried for 15 minutes to make a mobile order and by the time I'd ridden Everest and talked the long way around the park to Pandora I gave up and just went into the restaurant. It just wouldn't load. If it did, it took so long to respond that it was usually faster to just walk to the ride I was curious about and see. It also wouldn't let me make my additional fastpasses after using my first 3. I didn't think to write Disney about it, but you're right, it was definitely a huge issue. I was only there for two days and didn't have any ADRs but if I'd been there for 10 days it would have severely affected by trip. I kept checking for an update to see if they had posted one to fix the bugs, but no luck!

I do know that on two occasions, the ENTIRE SYSTEM went down, so things weren't working for anyone.

We also had issues using DAS return times (although the ride CMs just let us enter once we told them what our return time had been).

I was never able to view our Photopass photos on my app (I purchased the memory maker), but my husband was able to.

My Magic Band had constant issues allowing me room charge and CL elevator access, which was "fixed" multiple times, only to reoccur, etc. I was never able to modify FP times. I was usually unable to search for dining reservations. It was such an annoying mess.

We have a garden view room on the 4th floor. It is OK, not my favorite location. We are very close to the main elevators which I don't like. We have a double queen with walk in shower and pull out couch. I will say that whoever cleaned this room was not doing his/her best work. The floors are dirty around the furniture and the shower wasn't actually clean at all, which I didn't realize until I was just in there trying to feel like a human again after a day walking around in this heat.

We just spent a week at the BC (LOVED our deluxe room #1557) and everything about our stay was amazing EXCEPT our housekeeping. We had to literally ask for everything we needed: more coffee for the Nespresso machine, more toiletries when they ran out, more towels, etc. Some days they forgot to give us a bath mat. Other days, we would get bath towels but no hand towels or washcloths. We got turn down service 5 out of 7 nights. The room was never vacuumed....Our housekeeper didn't even HAVE a vacuum with her cart! Usually, our dirty coffee mugs were not replaced, so we would have to wash them ourselves, etc. Just really bad service all around. We had three different housekeepers. Only one did a great job, but we only had her one day. :(

We had no issues with "room checks." One day my husband stayed in the room all day because he didn't feel well and he did get a security check that day. The room occupied sign was up, and it had been all day up to that point. We did not have any disturbances at any other times, though.

We went to SAB every day around 11 or 12 and found it delightfully uncrowded. There were always tons of available loungers and never more than a few people in line for the slide.

I initially was upset with a ground floor room assignment, but it ended up being great. I loved being able to walk out the sliding door and be at the quiet pool and laundry room instantly. We sent the kids out to swim one day while I did laundry and it was nice to be able to watch them in the pool from my bed! We had three floor to ceiling windows and they all had the standard blackout curtains that you pull across. Our beds had bolster pillows which I loved. I also loved the upholstered benches at the foot of the beds. Very handy to store things on. I also thought the coffee table with drawer storage was handy...kept the kids pjs and plush animals in there.

We didn't mind being away from the CL lounge. It was not a long walk at all...about one minute to the lobby elevators and then straight up.

We enjoyed the lounge offerings, loved that it was open 24/7, and found all the staff friendly and helpful.

This was a split stay with Contemporary (Tower Club level) and the BC was the FAR and away favorite for everyone. We won't do a split stay again and will keep coming back to BC for all our future trips as a family. We all just love it so much and never have as good a time when we stay elsewhere. That pool is our jam! We also love being so close to our favorite park (Epcot) and just enjoy the overall vibe. Feels like vacation!

I did not speak to anyone about it while there. The issues were annoying but we just let it go. We ended up getting more coffee and toiletries from the evening turn down service housekeeper twice because she noticed that we hadn't been restocked (got two random knocks on the door in the mornings with baggies full of those items from a woman who said "I saw your notes about needing more coffee." (Notes we left after our daily housekeeping service intended for the following day). I think having a Club Level room on the 1st floor was the issue. We also never got the CL specific toiletry items that we got at the CR.

I do plan to write the GM. I took that letter from her that was in the room with the email address and plan to shoot off a quick email listing these issues but also praising the CL staff and letting her know how much we enjoyed the food offerings and new round the clock lounge access. I think positive feedback is important as well.

Thank you all for your reviews and comments.

When I have the time, I hope to add a lot of guest reviews to the review post on Page 1.

A recurring theme seems to be inconsistent (at best) housekeeping at the resort. I think these issues are prevalent at other Disney resorts as well. When I add the reviews, I will highlight the problems with housekeeping and suggestions about what to do if you encounter a room that has not been cleaned adequately.

Hi all! Can anyone tell me if all the rooms at the Yacht club have been refurbished? We are arming the end of October and have seen some room pictures online of garden view rooms with carpeting and some with dark hardwood floors and furniture. The second was quite nice looking! Just wondering!

We go to disney 1 to 2 times a year but we have not stayed at the beach club since 2013. We love the resort but the last couple of times we stayed there and this was before the renovation we had multiple issues with housekeeping as well. It is one of the major reasons why we have not returned to the BC. I am really worried for our upcoming october stay now. I think I am going to ask for an allergy cleaning to ensure our room is properly cleaned before we get there.

They are all refurbished. You will get one with the dark hardwood floors!

Final floats.

Tropical Sunrise Float – Ace Pineapple Hard Cider with Rainbow Sherbet – $12.00

This was the one that I was most surprised by, in a good way. Upon first reading the description I thought that this was going to be way too sweet, as both hard cider and sherbet can be quite sweet, but surprisingly the sherbet was just tart enough that it was quite delicious and refreshing, and although sweet it wasn't overwhelmingly so. I would absolutely get this one again, this was definitely the best one for a hot day.

rb.jpg
The Classic Root Beer Float – Not Your Father's Hard Root Beer with Vanilla Ice Cream – $12.00

OK, so this one I enjoyed the least, by far, but I expected that because I really dislike the Not Your Father's hard root beer. I find it to be a strange mix of sweet and bitter, and I just don't like it at all. I thought that maybe the ice cream would improve upon it, but no such luck. If you like this brand of hard root beer then ignore me, as you will likely enjoy this. This was also the only one that they used the whole drink in the float, which was a huge mess because of how carbonated it is, I don't know if this is the norm for this one or if this particular CM just made it wrong, as it was obvious that it was his first time making this float.

We are at the airport now but we had a great day. We started with the Sense of Africa tour (will post a full review in the AKL thread once the pictures are posted) which was incredible. Although, I do not suggest doing it on your check out day as it starts very early in the morning. We also rode the slinky dog coaster which was very cute and fun, and spent some time in the shade at SAB. We had lunch at the Ale and Compass lounge (I think that's what it's called) we had the burger and the rolls, both were good, and the bartender was able to make my husband a Pina Colada even though it wasn't on the menu.

Overall, this was a short trip but it was great. The dirty room upon entry (really just the floor and shower) was the only negative. The CMs were all excellent, there was one in particular who really went above and beyond by walking me to my room to check to make sure that my MB issue was really resolved. Our next trip is at BCV and we will certainly miss the YC.

Hello everyone! With a forthcoming CL trip at the YC in a few weeks, we're wondering about the room requests to make.

We have a Water View room, we believe all these are on the 5th floor, and already have balconies; is this correct?
Also, do you know if they have King beds in this category?

We had phenomenal housekeeping at the Contemporary for the 4 nights we were there. Made the BC housekeeping issues really stand out.

Hello everyone! With a forthcoming CL trip at the YC in a few weeks, we're wondering about the room requests to make.

I would request that the room be cleaned before check in and that there be enough towels and washcloths for each person in the room. Sadly it's getting to that point with Disney Resorts all across the property.

If it rains and you can see a puddle Disney will call that a water view so the water view rooms are not all on the 5th floor. If you want a high water view room I'd request that. I think the higher up you are the better the water view. I'm not sure about the king beds.

I’m going to the Yacht Club for the first time in October. Are all of the King bedrooms (garden view) connecting rooms? As two adults I’d prefer one king rather than two queen beds, but not if we are risking increased noise by being inter-connected.

We have Stayed YC CL four times since the referb and received a king room three out of the four times without requesting it...twice water view and once standard view. It appears they have added more king rooms, we have never had one in all of our previous YC stays. Request king bed close to the lounge. We had an awesome water view room just a couple doors down from the lounge.
