We are staying at the DL hotel for 9 days but only have a 8 day park hopper pass. We are wonder if you need your pass for Downtown Disney? What can we do there without a pass for 1 day.

DTD is an open shopping/dining area and you don't need a ticket. You can shop, eat, shop, watch a movie, check out GC, shop, eat, shop etc. Have a great vacation!

Nope! Downtown Disney is really a pedestrian mall and is open to the public without any kind of ticket or pass. If you're coming from the Harbor Blvd side of the parks you will have to go through the bag security check, cross the plaza and go straight out the other side.

Just one word of caution...DTD is a wonderful way to spend a few hours, but it does not justify an entire day. I would reccomend combining it with some major down time at your hotel.

You could eat and play at the DTD ESPN Zone for free, if you are going before Oct. 31st! Sign up for the ESPN club at http://www.mvpclub.espnzone.com/ Be sure to read the redemption procedures carefully (for example, you need to sign up for the email, don’t opt-out, because they email you a welcome that you print out for redemption purposes)! Everyone over 18 can do this!
This was how we spent the evening on our arrival day in May.
