Do you take your camera everywhere?

I don't feel strange when I'm in WDW taking pictures of food, of merchandise in stores, concrete walkways.... but I do feel strange to take my camera with me around town.

Do you carry your camera in your car in case you see something you want a picture of. Twice this week I really wished I had my camera with me to take pics of things I saw while driving. (I would have stopped the car :lmao: )

Do you take pictures of interesting things in stores? Last night I saw a store with lots of beautiful glass scuptures that would have been fun to photograph, but I would have felt pretty strange doing it.

If you do carry your camera, do you carry it in a bag or just hold it or wear it on the strap?

I don't take it with me everywhere (like the grocery store, gym, etc.) but I do carry my camera bag with me everyday to work so if I decide to walk around outside and see something I'd like to shoot I can..or if I see something on the way home I'd like to pull over for.

I would feel a little weird about taking photos in a store. Like you said, it's one thing at WDW which is such a touristy location that they expect you to do it, it's another thing to do it at a store in your local town. I'm sure it'd still be okay, but you might get some looks.

They are not alright with it at stores around here! I saw some teenagers be escorted out of the mall for taking pictures of merchandise inside a Claire's. I know it was teenagers in a mall and all, but I witnessed it and that was the only thing they did. Artsy type stores never let you take pictures either. At Disney, you are not supposed to take pics inside the Wyland Gallery shops. I have seen them force someone to delete a shot they took. They are an outside company though.

Wow! I did kind of wonder if the stores would be ok with it. I didn't have my camera with me and probably would not have gotten up the nerve to ask to take pics or to just whip out the camera.

never done it but i wonder if you asked especially in a smaller store if they would let you..i can understand "art" gallery type places since they don't want you copying the stuff and selling it;)
one of my favorite photo places are farmer's markets and i think grocery stores could have some nice shots as well. i'd probably take only one lens and the camera rather than the whole bag someplace like that and be as inconspicuous as possible.
as far as taking it everywhere i am bad at that. i don't want to leave it in the car in winter and since i keep it upstairs as likely as not forget to grab it before i come down then think of it after i left, usually as i mutter the words, "that would be a nice photo"...we are putting a new cabinet right by the back door so maybe I'll leave a place for it there amongst the canned corn:rotfl:

most malls prohibit photography, as well as most stores,

some claim it's a securtiy issue, some claim copyright etc of displays or merchandise,,others don't have an answer

I have a pattern for carrying my camera around, it goes something like this...

I carry it around most places (to/from work, etc) so I will have it when inspiration or opportunity strikes. After a few weeks of nothing, I get disillusioned with carrying it. Without fail, the day I leave it behind, I miss a great shot. Rinse, repeat.

I take my camera with me pretty much everywhere I go. I am self employeed and have my shop in my house so when I do get to go out I just grab the bag and take it with me. Sometimes when I go out to make deliveries I will extend my trip to a local state park on somewhere I think I might be able to take a few shots. Today I went to get a haircut and didnt take it with me(one of the few times I havent taken it along in months) as it was going to be a go and come home kind of trip. On my way home a red tail hawk flew across the road right in front of me and landed at the very top of a small pine tree very close to the road. I am sure I could have pulled off the road, lowered the window and fired off a few shots right from the side of the road had I brought it with me. I was upset I didnt have it with me. I think my new motto will be .... "Dont leave home without it." My camera bag looks pretty much like a sling pack and not a camera bag so carrying it with me doesnt make me feel strange at all if I am the only one carrying a camera. If I am out for a drive to the park in the afternoon the camera is always out of the bag and on the passenger seat. I got into the habit of running the passenger seat seatbelt thru the strap just in case I have to hit the brakes so the camera doesnt hit the dash. Its very easy to just unlatch the seat belt if I pull over to take a picture.

I've got a little Ixus 860 IS (I think that translates to Elph 870IS) which fits neatly into a belt pouch. It's so small that nobody really notices it; I carry it pretty much everywhere I go that I am wearing a belt!

Only problem is that it's so small and unobtrusive, I sometimes forget I have it with me when a photo opportunity comes around!

Maybe I need more sleep :)

I just bought a bag that looks more like a purse so I could carry my D-SLR with me. It holds one lens and my SB-800. There's room for my wallet and few incidentals. Now my purse is REALLY heavy, but I like having my camera with me. :)

What kind of bag did you buy?

That would make for a heavy purse!

Of all places...I found it at Walmart and it was $35.00. It's not real leather, of course, and I don't even think it looks very real, but it's not ugly, either. It's very sturdy and it just made it to Wilkes-Barre, PA and back with a connecting flight in Newark, NJ :thumbsup2:

I don't carry the dSLR everywhere, usually, but I do have a small Nikon Coolpix that is the size of a deck of cards that DW usually carries in her purse or I carry in my pocket for those "just in case" moments. Obviously not as good as the dSLR for many things, but much lighter and less bothersome.

Walmart is my style :thumbsup2

Do you take your camera everywhere?
Pretty much.

As others said, it's always when you don't have it that you come across the best photo ops.

I keep my dSLR bag by the door and generally grab it on my way out. Sometimes it just sits in my car and I don't use it. Other times I make it a point to stop somewhere to shoot. I definitely take it if we're doing something special.

I keep my bridge camera in my purse for those times I don't bring my camera bag. Every once in a while I forget to put it back in there after downloading pics and I always end up kicking myself.

I guess for those of us who like to take pictures, it's nice to always have something on hand.

The worst was a couple of years ago I went to the zoo and I realized halfway there I forgot my camera. I had to buy a disposable in the gift shop and it seriously bummed me out.

I'm currently involved in a project that involves me taking a photo a day of something so I'm trying to get in the habit of taking my camera everywhere with me. I'm on the lookout for a bag that can accomodate my camera and my "purse stuff". I may have found one I like.

Many stores do not allow you to take pictures inside. I know my grocery store does not and neither does my local mall but yet inside the mall is a Build-A-Bear Workshop and you can take pictures in there.

Yes we take our cameras just about everywhere LOL I keep one in my purse & my girls have learned to do the same. You just never know what you might come across whether it be pretty or just funny, like this pic we were in Target looking through the Christmas Clearance and I told the girls to try on these big bell decorations! LOL Couldn't help myself!

Ok and here is a pretty one...we were in line waiting for Santa & my daughter looked up and said mom that's a cool reflection and it turned out looking like a giant snowflake!

amend that to just "don't want to leave it in the car"... happy now?:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: ;)

I was curious, because I know people that do leave cameras in the car in summer and that's a very bad thing to do, a good way to ruin lenses etc...
