Do you think Disney will ever prohibit video/live streaming from the parks?

I think the signage has to do with the renovation work. I've heard similar signs were posted elsewhere where construction was happening, too.

Perhaps there are some areas where they feel it's less safe to have people trying to vlog renovation progress, or maybe the contracts with the people doing the work have asked them to try to stop that kind of thing from being done?

There's no way WDW is ever going to all-out ban guests from video recording while actually out enjoying the parks or resorts. I think they're just trying to keep people safe by keeping them away from active work areas.

And I do agree with those that say that people who publish their videos and vlogs and photos are giving Disney heaps of free advertising.

Yes ^
This has been common in the past around construction and renovations. Signs up and security shooing people away.

If someone was live streaming during a meal or such and it impacted me I would flat out ask them to stop or move the camera. Live blogger don’t have card Blanche to record as they will and expect others to not interrupt if they are intrusive

I think Disney will ask vloggers to have passes that identify as such after they have been verified. They will also probably set limits on it as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if other theme parks started to do so and Disney will claim they are just catching up with the times. I would not be surprised if they make a profit on special passes for vloggers.

Nah. They will never stop them. Free publicity for Disney. I try different things I learn from the vloggers such as restaurants, snacks and merchandise. I mean who cares if you show up in a vlog. I hope I do one day. Would be awesome.

how would it impact you? I think would make the meal fun if I saw one of my favorite vloggers next to my table.

Maybe- I just think it will be hard to separate those who are just taking videos of themselves for fun and those who do it for YouTube page or Instagram or Facebook or something. You can't tell one person not to live stream because they have 100,000 viewers on YouTube and tell me that I am allowed to live stream to Instagram because I only have 300 followers on a private page. And how would you be able to tell the difference between a live stream and someone just taking videos of themselves on a phone? Set up a Disney YouTube/TikTok/Instagram screening center and then go find people.. seems a bit too much to me.

That being said, I am a terrible millennial and think social media is garbage for the most part. So I really don't care either way :)
You "ban" all streamers but only actively go after the ones with 10,000+ followers and public streams.

So far, the only places they have posted these signs are either construction areas or backstage access areas - places where the public should not be in the first place. I can see them getting more strict with coverage of restricted access areas. To be honest, I don’t watch videos of areas guests should not access since I feel that encourages bad behavior. A lot of this could be in anticipation of the upcoming anniversary, and not wanting things out in the public before the event.

However, in areas of the parks and resorts where guests have unlimited access I don’t see them putting any restrictions in place regarding photos or videos. They could decide gimbals should go the way of selfie sticks, but in my opinion the photos and videos themselves will be allowed. I don’t always agree. I don’t like to have to view fireworks through a sea of lit phone screens. But I don’t think it will be high on the list of things Disney wants to eliminate. Done right, it’s a lot of free publicity for Disney, and they won’t be complaining about that.

Many hotels on the Las Vegas strip have banned livestreams and even just videos/photos being taken in common areas altogetger. This is partially because of the casinos there and how they often infiltrate/share the public areas. Some hotels are more strict than others and many will outright kick you out of your room/ban you from the property for non compliance. It's very difficult to vlog in Vegas, inside the hotels at least.

Disney could very well do the same thing if they wanted to. There is precedent for how to enforce it. But I don't see them ever doing anything like that.

I do agree that the presence of vloggers/livestreamers in the parks is getting increasingly annoying. I actually prefer when they are connected to their phones/cameras via esrbuds and a small microphone so they can talk quietly and be unobtrusive. I feel like the DIS team does a good job with this, which is one reason I like their content. They are very respectful of others. They speak softly or make sure they are well away from others when they aren't connected via headphones.

Some of them just talk SO loudly and obnoxiously into their phones while filming and it does negatively impact everyone in earshot, though. I had one next to me on 4th of July at Disneyland before the fireworks. She would NOT shut up for the 15 minutes leading up to the show and it was quite annoying.

I can't see it happening for guests in public areas. Short of interrogating everyone with a phone and trying to differentiate a) a FaceTime call with grandma, b) straight recording your magical walk down Main Street, or c) an actual live stream...it just won't work.

I work in a hospital -- this is our technical blanket policy, but we only enforce it in egregious situations (cracking down on taking selfies after your surgery is a waste of our time).

I'm an "influencer hater" in general, but if livestreams were banned and my livelihood depended on YouTube views, I would just have to record (claim it was just for personal use) and upload later...that's why a guest ban wouldn't work.

simply fact is Disney wont prohibit the Vlogers and live streams because Disney are technically employing them. Influencer Marketing is an industry term and is now a normal part of marketing for many companies in all sorts of industries.

Ever wondered HOW the Vloggers get invited to previews, events etc? Well they are on a PR / marketing list. Just like beauty vloggers get boxes of free makeup from companies. The Marketing department of The Walt Disney Company will have a team of people whose job is solely to be the contact person to the Vloggers. These people will watch the Vlogs and select certain Vloggers for various reasons.

Influencer Marketing is part of my job and I have hired bloggers / Vloggers for clients in the past. Its not just about getting free stuff, its a proper business contract between the bloggers / Vloggers and the company. The company is "paying" the bloggers / Vloggers by giving them free stuff, preview invites etc and in exchange the bloggers / Vloggers are under contract to create social media and website content about that merchandise / preview event etc. The end game is always what the company can gain from using bloggers / Vloggers, usually sales and revenue, but there can be other metrics such as clicks to a website, distribution of information, increase of followers / likes on social media accounts and so much more.
