Does your kid have an Osmo Coding Toy?

I have a 9 year old and a 7 year old. Both are asking for an Osmo for Christmas. We are already planning to get them each a Chromebook & they currently own an Amazon kids tablet, that they are both starting to outgrow.

I've been trying to research these, but I still can't quite figure out what they do. Is this something completely different? or not worth it, given the other electronics they have?
