Dog Sled sold out everywhere :(

I booked a last minute VGT rate on an Alaskan cruise this Summer on the Wonder, and all of the Dog sled excursions (both through Disney and private companies) appear to be sold out.
Do people cancel? Keep checking back?
Any other tour companies that do them other than Alaskan shore excursions and alaskan shore tours?
Any advice would be appreciated. I have an 11 year old boy, and this is a must do for him!
We prefer to do the Summer camp type, so we don't have to do the helicopter. Although at this point, we would take either I think.

Keep checking. People will change plans and cancel almost all the way up to sail date. There's no guarantee, of course, but it's worth it to keep checking back.

One of the pros/cons to not having to pay until on the ship, people over-book and then cancel as they get closer and start doing the math $$$!

I read about Temsco Helicopter (temscoair.com) in an Alaska cruise guide book. I haven't used them though. They seem to have a dogsled tour but not sure if it's available for your cruise.

Yes absolutely this! Tutshi Sled Dog Camp was so much fun !

I don't know what days you are looking at, but Coastal Helicopter Tours, Temsco and Northstar Helicopters have lots of availibility. Some days/times are sold out, but not all.

Alaska Shore Tours/Excursions are just major consolidators. (Its similar to booking through the cruise line.). For better prices, book through the company directly.

And yes, these guys' bread and butter are cruise ship passengers. They will totally take care of you.
