Ok this is the deal. We are doing a building Christmas party. I wanted to make an appetizer tray with several different things on it. I would like recipes that are not only easy and affordable but also taste good room temperature or warm this way if we can warm them fine and if not they will still be good. Any ideas. I know at one time I saw a sausage ball recipe on here that I tried and it was really good but I don't think I wrote it down. I will need to look for that. Any help for me out there??

Not sure this one fall's into the category you are looking for.

You can make the mixture in advance but need to heat up & you need to watch closely.

CHEESE SPREAD on crackers

1 slice bacon (uncook)
1/2 stick yellow cheddar cheese
1 finely sliced onion.

Mix together in food processor. Spread on crackers & heat up in toaster oven.
Watch carefully & cook until just golden. Escort or Townhouse crackers are good for this one.

I hope this is the recipe you are looking for....

Sausage Balls

1 lb. hot pork sausage
1 lb. sharp cheddar cheese
3 cups Bisquick baking mix

Grate cheese, let stand mixed with sausage to room temperature. Add bisquick. Mix together with hands and shape into balls. Freeze on a cookies sheet until frozen, then put in ziploc bag or other freezer container. Bake 400 degrees for 15 minutes (from frozen!)

Here's another along the same lines and so good too:

Sausage Pizzas

1 pkg. party cocktail rye bread
1 lb. hot pork sausage
1 lb. Velveeta cheese

Brown sausage and drain. Add cubed Velveeta to sausage in skillet, stirring until melted. Spread about 1 tablespoon of mixture onto each rye bread slice. Freeze on cookie sheet like recipe about, bake 400 degrees 15 minutes from frozen.

1- Loaf of Party Rye or Pumpernickel Bread (small bread found at deli during holidays)
1- Soft Cream Cheese
2- Cukes (wash, peel portion of skin to make white/green, slice thin)
Fresh Dill

Spread a thin layer of cream cheam on a slice of bread, top w/ a cuke slice and a little dill.

Love appetizers! Most of my best are dips, though.

Here's one - make up spinach dip, including some cut-up water chestnuts. Spread on the big flour tortillas, roll up, refrigerate overnight, slice into 1 inch pieces. People love them!

My long ago ex-MIL used to make a hot dip with creamed chipped beef, cream cheese, worshirchester, etc. Yummy. A friend gave me a recipe for an apple/berry salsa, but it's a royal pain baking the tortilla chips (sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar) And of course, there's always hot artichoke dip and layered mexican dip, too.

Oh, lord, I'm hungry!!!! I think I need an appetizer party!

How about baked brie? It is probably the simplest recipe for an app that there is....

Trim the rind off of an 8oz round of brie. Wrap in one sheet of puff pastry and trim excess.
Seal pastry and place on baking sheet with the seam down. Bake at 375 for 20 minutes or until brown.

Serve with sliced apples and pears, french bread or sourdough, and good crackers, like water crackers. It does well warm or near room temp, because when it is too warm, the cheese is too runny.

I also put about 1/2 cup of chutney or preserves on top of the cheese before wrapping in the pastry for a different flavor. You could also use chopped sundried tomatoes with a little pesto or fresh basil, caramelized vidalia onion sauteed with mushrooms, whatever!

To get really fancy, cut out shapes from the extra pastry you trimmed. Place them on top, and brush with a little beaten egg before baking for a shiny glaze.

the layered cheese torte. OMG! girl I am gonna make this one next wkd for a christmas party... It is holiday themed with those red and green layers!! YUMMMMMM!
Thanks, Joan
