Evening activities

I've seen several people write that there isn't much to do at Aulani in the evening. We are traveling with our two daughters (18 and 20) - are there any bars/restaurants with music at night, either at Aulani or nearby? Any other suggestions?

Or will we be so tired from jet lag (coming from the East Coast) that evening activities will be irrelevant?

Aulani has music in the evenings as does Monkey Pod across the street. We come from the East Coast as well, so we are ready to go to bed fairly early, we get up early...which is great for us, spend more time enjoying the beauty of the day.

Good questions. We fly from the east coast (FL) as well and our experience was that by the time we got to Aulani we were so jet lagged that we weren't good for much that evening.

We actually did Monkey Pod on our arrival day a couple of visits ago and go the most perky waitress you've ever had. It was all lost on us though...

the majority of night time activities on oahu are in waikiki (clubs/bars/etc). the first night...might not be the worst idea to simply walk the resort a bit then call it a night.

depending on what kind of interests your family has, things like photography (landscape/sunsets mostly) are a viable evening activity. on nights where they have the character dinner buffet...that could be an option (albeit a pricey one)....theres also luaus (probably same if not more expensive than the character buffet)

depending on the view from your room, simply sitting out on the balcony and relaxing could also be viable.

We are from NC and found that evenings wound down earlier for us than at home, sometimes we would be in bed by 7:30:D
But you can hang out and listen to music at Aulani outside the lounge area, or go to MonkeyPod and have a nightcap. Really, for us east coasters, taking it easy and winding the day down early, Aulani is about a relaxing place to do this as any I could think of.
Advice, grab dinner your 1st night and hit the bed early to allow for better days ahead, as the jet lag will get the best of you otherwise
