Ever gone on a trip just you and one kid?

I haven’t but dh has. He took ds to Zion NP along with a couple of his buddies for an adventure trip. I stayed home with dd since she was too young at the time to go rappelling and rock climbing.

I was only able to once with my oldest when he was 8. We went to Chicago for the weekend. Full disclosure, we did stay at a friend’s place, so the entire trip wasn’t JUST us. The 10 hr drive there and back was just us, and it was wonderful! He would never commit to anything else once I was able to afford it when he was a teen. Now that he’s 25 with a GF, I think that ship has sailed.
My youngest and I went to WDW for 5 days when he was 8. He’s 11 now and I definitely want to do another trip somewhere.

Yes! I actually have one this weekend with my youngest. We are headed to the Ft. Lauderdale boat show. He is obsessed with boats (odd since we don't have one) and has begged us to take him every year. He was talking to us and told my husband it would be the best Christmas gift we could give him. My husband told me to look for a deal and boy did I find one. I am picking him up from school on wednesday and will start heading to the airport. I wonder how long it will take him to realize he doesn't have a Drs. office that we go to in Michigan. He will be out of his mind excited. My oldest is actually in on the surprise and is happy to stay home while the 2 of us go. My oldest and I have gone to Chicago the last 2 years over labor day weekend just the 2 of us. Honestly, I treasure the time with each of them alone. I love when the 4 of us are together but there is something magical about one on one time.

My wife has taken our older son, currently 7, for a weekend away each of the last two years, nothing real far or expensive but something just for the two of them. We have promised each of our sons that the year they turn 10 they can choose where they want to go with the two of us, but not their sibling. The older one wants San Diego and spend a few days at the zoo, the younger one wants WDW.

My mom and I have done a few weekends to a spa and casino together. We're not gamblers, but the spa happens to be across the street from the casino, which has lots of food options.

My dad and brother have gone camping together and did a trip to Pennsylvania when he was younger.

I'd like to do more with my mom, I've been thinking of a New York trip for awhile so we could see Anastasia on broadway.

We only have 1 kid so we've done lots of weekend trips just DD and I or just DD and DH. ::yes:: DH works alot so sometimes he's not available when I can go away for the weekend and I sometimes have to take care of my mom so they go without me.

Kind of. DD#2 and I traveled back 'home' to WA state two summers ago so that she could spend three weeks with her best friend and attend Girl Scout summer camp in northern Idaho. I flew her out there but bff moms flew her back. The two of us had planned to go backpacking this summer but it didn't happen due to various life/Covid events.

DD#1 accompanied DH on a college road trip two summers ago. He had to visit a few of the branch campuses in our university system, and she accompanied him checking out the colleges. She had nothing else to do other than play video games, so was up for a road trip.

Lots of sports tournaments and field trips, but those aren't the same.

We did take a trip his last year in HS to a weekend-long music festival. So glad we went just the two of us. We met up with some friends there, but still had plenty on one-on-one time.

We have 3 kids. I try to take 1 or 2 kids at a time places often to give them some special memories and alone time.
For instance
I took my oldest kid to see the Falcon Heavy launch
I took kids 1 and 2 to see the Space X Demo 1 launch
I have taken every possible combo of kids to my parents house (a farm with a zillion things to do) for a weekend.
I have taken every possible combo camping with scouts or on overnight trips. Last weekend was my middle guy, this weekend were kids 2&3, next weekend it's kid #1. Yeah, it's a busy time.
I took my middle guy to a big farm/ag trade show
I'll also just grab one at random for a "date night" or to go do something.

Most of the time, I take all 3, but my dad was pretty good at singling us all out for 1:1 time, and I think it's worth it. It can be tricky, because you can never tell if Kid A will mope because Kid B isn't there, etc.

I took DD to Europe twice, just the two of us, at ages 4 and 5. She remembers about 1% of it. We had a fun time though. She was a good traveler.

Don't know about a "trip". Definitely did a day trip just the two of us, but I don't recall anything overnight without my wife there. My wife had been out of town and we've been alone together. Sometimes we might go a reasonable distance.

Come to think of it, once we stayed in a tent overnight, although that was the final day of a day camp and parents coming along was optional. Actually we've done that a few times including a few school/preschool overnight camping trips, although those were with big groups.

We were talking about maybe a train trip - just the two of us.

Have you ever gone on trips with just one kid, just for the fun of it?
Depends, do you mean only one parent & child? Then, no. But my husband & I took our youngest on a cruise with us (without the other kids) one time.

Well, not really a "vacation" but one kid & I went to staff a scout camp one spring.

My husband and I regularly do one on one trips with our kids. They love to have a customized trip to their preferences and it gives each of us special time with each other. We've been doing this since they were little and its a regular part of our family life. Sometimes they're local trips and sometimes bigger trips across country or out of country.

I don't vacation with only 1 of my kids, but being divorced and they technically live with mom most of the time, I am with them often but rarely am I with them both at the same time. They always have things going on so when one is busy, I'm with the other and vice versa.
