'Fess up... who has NEVER...

You named the one person that I had blocked for years. They’re pretty idolized, so I’ll leave it at that.

He must have chilled out by the time I started reading the CB. I think there might have been some questionable comments and kept scrolling before I really took any notice. I mostly remember he talked about Vegas, kittyblue… ;) and posted song threads which he always “liked” everyone’s contributions.

But that signature picture is definitely inappropriate. :crazy2:

I’ve only ignored reecejackbox and would spinneret if people didn’t reply to them. There’s a couple posters I usually skim and keep scrolling, too.

I’ve only reported one person because they started it…😌 posted that they reported me. I don’t even remember who.

Yikes! People have initiated conversations with me in a friendly way, but never in a confrontational way. I don’t know why, but it never occurred to me that someone would do that. I guess it shouldn’t surprise me.

Does that happen often?
I've had it happen to me before but I usually ignore it. I find it to be really offputting tbh.

As for the OP's question, I've put maybe a handful of people on ignore. Those people have consistently made comments that made me go, uh yeah off to the ignore list you go....

I currently have 6 people on my ignore list, only 2 of them are still posting. Putting people on my ignore list lowers my blood pressure and keeps my fingers from getting twitchy. More people who can't help themselves should use the ignore list so they don't get themselves into trouble.

I've reported spam and porn. I have also reported posters for baiting people. I wanted to bring attention to the bait before someone responded. However under old management, the baiter would often remain and the posters who would respond to it would get a time out. Now that we have new management and the new board, I don't need to do that any longer.

I ignore/not report.

If you hit the report button what comes up? (Just curious)
A little text box to say why you're reporting it.

I've debated blocking or ignoring spinneret often. They never reply to their own threads. Start so many, and honestly, if someone wanted to compile all the questions they've asked people, I think they could put way more information together about the people who answer than those people would like. And they never comment about anything Disney, so why are they here?

I have never reported anyone . . . yet. I have been very tempted a couple of times, but the posts disappeared before I had the chance.

I do not put people on ignore because I disagree with their opinion. We are a diverse group here on the DIS and I enjoy learning new things. However, I have put people on ignore for attacking other posters. I review my ignore list every so often, and take people off to give them a second chance. Sometimes they stay off and sometimes they go right back on.

Prior to the controversial board I would ignore entire threads if they became too volatile. I have not had to do that since the new board opened.

That's who I have on Ignore and if that DISer responded to us talking about him/her/they......that would be a first. :thumbsup2

Exactly!

All those questions about what your house and neighborhood look like, the most expensive items in your home, when’s the last time you went away…not suspicious at all. :rolleyes1

I have wondered what's their purpose. For me, they add zero to the conversations on the boards.

I have a possibly/maybe/but partially true/non-conspiracy/half crazy theory about that.

The "new" identity was formed to see if he/she/they could start a certain number of threads, without ever responding, in a certain time period. A good way into the first year it seemed to me that that the target was to average 100 posts per month. And one year, to the day, after the new identity was formed he/she/they hit 1200 posts.

That life goal having been accomplished, it seems that the goal for this year is to average one post per day. The math isn't exactly right so who knows.

I guess we all should set such lofty goals for the satisfaction of completion makes us better people.

Not daily or anything. :goodvibes There have been several over the years and there were a cluster when the Controversy Board first opened but not in the last week or two. I think a lot of people started on that sub-forum with an "all guns blazing" sort of approach but have since really settled down. It's all good. I care very little what strangers may think of me and I'm pretty hard to offend.

I have reported posts a few times, always when it was when it was when someone posted porn. Logged in at 2 am once and the first three full pages were the same porn post over and over again.
Never blocked anyone. If there is something or someone whose post I don't want to ready, I just scroll past it.

They are fishing for information. Many of the questions they ask are ones that people use to set their passwords so if you give out enough information, they can plug it into major websites to see if they can gain access to your accounts.

Where did you grow up
What school did you go to
How far away are you now from where you grew up
What’s the name of the hospital you were born at

All seemingly innocent questions, but when it’s all added up, you’ve given them so, so much.

I used to warn people all. the. time. in those threads but eventually gave up because it made absolutely no difference.

I agree. It's amazing how many DISers would and do respond to a "newer" DISer. In other words if one of us asked a similar question and we've been here for awhile I could understand the trusting in replying. But for a bot as I refer to these question askers....no way.

I don't remember the questions, but remember blocking someone just because they had the most annoying questions. Like it was a contest to hit a thousand posts by the end of the week. Perhaps it was like you stated.

I have reported spam. Same post in 10 different categories.

Exactly! I called it out on a thread and the majority of the people defended the questions and answered.

This person has literally never responded to a single thread they have created.

Nope. It's not worth my time or energy. I just scroll on past anyone I find annoying.

I also don't tattle on people in the workplace. No good ever comes of involving the higher-ups and I mind my own business, lol. That being said, if someone could get hurt or worse, I'd absolutely report them. Luckily, I've never needed to.
