We are looking at a west carib. cruise for January of 2021. How much deposit do they require and do these cruises typically book up quickly?

Deposits are 20% of cruise fare, unless you happen to be booking during a special deposit offer time.

And a special deposit offer doesn't change the overall price, just what you pay at the time of initial booking.

As soon as you know which cruise you want to do. Prices rise on cruises as the space fills up, so closer to the cruise costs more than booking as far out as you can.

I actually just received an e-mail today that offers 50% off of the deposit on 4 night or longer cruises from June 20, 2020 through May 31, 2021 if booked by 2/14/20. So now may be a good time if you're looking for a reduced deposit amount. As a previous poster said, it doesn't change the total price, and booking sooner is always better.

Thanks!!! We booked with the 10 % deposit. so excited to go on our first disney cruise! over a year out but hey something to look forward too. We are going to disney world in 3 weeks for a 10 day stay!

We leave next week for our second West Caribbean cruise on the Fantasty. It will be our 3rd time to cruise in Jan. We love escaping the cold weather. The ports are usually in the mid 80s. Although it hasn't been announced yet for 2021, but Jan and Feb cruises on the Fantasy are when they do the Star Wars Day at Sea. If you like Star Wars, you'll have a lot of fun. My family isn't big SW fans, but next week will be our 3rd SW cruise. They should be announcing which cruises will be SW for 2021 later this month or next.
