Thank you Mr. StormAlong. But, I'm not kidding about my laptop. I got caught in "Ping" slinging the other day. I no longer have it on this puter, but everytime I try to sign on to the DIS, or even view it, from my laptop...I still get "pinged". Someone forgot to UNDO IT apparently.

I'm familiar with ping, use it a lot but I'm not sure what Ping Slinging is. I'll be glad to help but might need some more info. Check your PM. I'll send you my e-mail and we can see what we can see.

As I am "unable" to do the ping thing, I'm not sure what it does other than get an IP address. Can it really do harm or get "stuck"???

some of the guys here were trying to ward off Evil 1 by pinging...well, lil ole me just happened to be in the right place, at the wrong time I guess.

It can do harm for sure. One form of a "denial of service" attach is called "Ping of death". Most firewalls can handle that now and not get locked up by it. I'm not entirely sure of what Wishydoo is referring though.

Wishydoo, just to reassure you, there were no pings to your IP address that I'm aware of. Chris, may have check the logged IP address to match things up but certainly, as a responsible moderator, never gave out your IP address and none of the others of us would have even asked for it.

The ping command line that I put in that post wasn't even a valid command line. If anyone had tried to enter it, it would have been rejected. And, without an IP address it wouldn't have worked anyway.
