Day 2

Monday 5 October 2015

I had made the mistake of turning off the air conditioning last night as I thought it was a bit noisy. As a result we all slept very badly and were awake at 4.30am. The kids said they weren't comfortable so we swapped beds and I turned the air con back on. We lay chatting and discussed doing EMH even though we'd decided against it last night because we wanted to hit the Studios as soon as it opened. Eventually we all drifted off to sleep and I woke around 8am. I was exhausted so didn't actually get up until 8.30 and then I took time wake the others. All very tired we got ready for the day ahead.

Socks for the day:

I opened the curtains to see the view properly. A really lovely view, I don't think we could have got more central.

Work being carried out on the paving slabs below:

Mark our DS was left at home this trip. He's in a band and they have a bag with their faces on it, so I thought I'd take a photo of him so he didn't feel left out :rotfl:

We made our way to breakfast in the Manhattan for 9.30 and enjoyed a filling breakfast.

Still nice and dry outside we headed off through the Village to the Studios. I like that they make an effort with the decorations in the Studios :thumbsup2

Crush already had queues of 50 minutes and the kids didn't want to wait today so we all headed for Ratatoullie with some photos on the way.

It was about 10.15 however the ride wasn't open yet. We popped in the shop as this hadn't been finished last time we were here.

I had made a list of all the things I'd like to buy this visit as I always end up just browsing and not remembering what I actually want. One thing on my list was a notebook that I could turn into a recipe book and fill with all my grandparents baking recipes. I found exactly what I wanted in here, a Remy/Gusteau recipe book that stands up! (I'll post photos of everything we bought at the end) I'm chuffed to bits with this and can't wait to start filling it.

We also make great use of the shopping service on this trip. I asked for the book to be sent back to the hotel and all was arranged quickly - ready to be picked up from the hotel boutique after 8pm. We did this a few times and everything worked smoothly. A great service :thumbsup2

When we came out of here Ratatoullie was open, already with a 30 min wait. We headed straight to the single rider line and were in and out in about 10 minutes. Fantastic ride in here again. Love it :goodvibes

Abbey wanted to do RC, so she joined the single rider line with a 5 min wait. We took some photos around Toy Story Playland.

Slinky was closed for refurb but I had to take a photo of him anyway

Next up was Cars, 5 min wait

No Dancing!

DH and Abbey went off to do Tower of Terror and Lewis and I went onto Carpets which was a walk on

I think this might need a wee refurb - as the carpets started to fly the creaking sound was really loud

We noticed the Buzz meet and the queue was really short, so we got in line. Lewis met him in about 3 minutes :thumbsup2

Then we got some photos at the Monsters Inc area. I wish they'd bring Sulley out again for meets.

Over to see the Stunt Show Cars which was closed again this year. Same last time. Lewis really likes this so it was a bit of a shame. I suppose we'll need to go back another time....

We did carpets again, another walk on, and then met DH and Abbey

Abbey wanted to do Art of Animation next so that's what we did :)

I like that they always update this with new films - this time Inside Out was featured.

It was around 13:30 now and we wanted some lunch. Off to Earl of Sandwich in the village. DH, Lewis and I all had the Traditional.Abbey wasn't hungry so she just had a drink. Food was nice but some of the beef in my sandwich wasn't completely cooked - I know some like it medium, DH does, but I can't stand it. It was ok though and I just picked out the bits I didn't want.

I had a really sore head, think I was just tired from the lack of sleep so it was nice to relax for half an hour and do nothing. When we left EOS it was raining really heavily, so much that we considered going back to the hotel. In the end we went for it and agreed to brave it and do something I never, ever thought I'd ever do.....we bought ponchos! I would of been quite happy with my hood up and a brolly, but DH didn't have a hood and I knew he wouldn't wear a poncho unless someone else did. The kids were having none of it :rotfl2: We bought 2 ponchos and a Mickey umbrella from a shop in the village and then headed to the park.

We hadn't done Pirates yet, so made that our first destination. I lead everyone through Liberty Arcade and under the covered walkway which was practically empty. This really helped keep us dry. Pirates had a 5 minute wait, but using the right hand lane was a walk on. Everyone seems to miss this and then looks at us like we're queue jumping.....open your eyes people :rotfl:

Some pirate pumpkin heads

Next we went towards Buzz and had a go on the Teacups as it was also a walk on.

Proof of the ponchos...

The parks seem so quiet! You got loads done! Unfortunately it won't be the same at Halloween itself...

Next we made it to Buzz, 5 min wait

I got one of the best scores I've ever had! DH was not happy and declared that there must be something wrong with his gun :rotfl2:

Up next was Star Tours with a 10 min wait. Lewis loves this and we spoke about him doing the Jedi Academy but he wasn't sure about it....we'll see ;)

Abbey wanted to do Space Mountain. DH and I don't like this so neither of us wanted to go on, Abbey was fine going herself, BUT......how was she going to get there without an umbrella???? What would she do??? In the end DH went with her and waited at the exit so he could be the brolly holder :umbrella:

Lewis and I queued inside Cafe Hyperion to use our Pause Gourmande vouchers. We opted for doughnuts, water and some orange minute maid.

No-one was hungry so we kept the stuff for later.

We sat inside and watched for DH and Abbey coming back. The wait time had only been 5 minutes and they were back in no time.

It was about 16:15 now and we had reservations at Bistro Chez Remy in the Studios. Off we sloshed through the rain....I have mixed reviews of the ponchos...I couldn't see very well and had to fold back the hood, also had problems hearing anyone....but on the plus side they are very well made and did keep me completely dry. I also liked that my bag was dry underneath, so not all bad

Into the Studios and the kids still wanted to do Crush. It had a 30 minute wait time so they joined the queue. I had told Abbey that our reservation at 5pm was the latest sitting so we couldn't change it. Luckily there was a showing of Animagique just starting so DH and I went inside. Nice to be dry for a while and I still really like this wee show - love singing along :music:

This finished just before 5 and Abbey text to say they were leaving the Crush queue as it wasn't moving quickly at all :( I promised we'd make sure they got on another day.

Inside Bistro Chez Remy and we gave our name. We waited about 5 minutes and were then shown to our table.

I had hoped we might get a booth, but was not to be. All the booths were empty and everyone was sitting in the same area - probably trying to get the place sorted for the next day.

Our waitress was lovely and we all enjoyed a lovely meal. Adult starter was a cheese salad - no choice. We rarely bother with starters but as they're included in the half board plus meal plan we took it and it was really nice.

Lewis had cheese balls, tomato and bread sticks - he didn't touch it....

For mains we all had the steak - delicious

Lewis had the meatballs and cleared his plate

For dessert, thankfully the chocolate cake and creme anglasie from last time was still on the menu...mmmm...amazing :flower1:

Our waitress had been chatting to Lewis and asked his name and how to spell it. Then she brought out his eclair....

He was thrilled with this!

Some more photos inside...I'm still amazed by the theme of his restaurant and think it's probably the best in either park :thumbsup2

We spent quite some time here and I knew the park closed at 6pm. It must have been around 6.45 by the time we were ready to leave. Our waitress was at the door (with her poncho on :rotfl:) and escorted us and some other diners out of the park. It was a fantastic opportunity to get some photos of Place de la Remy empty which I was thrilled about!

I absolutely love this area. I think it's so well put together. Well done Disney Imagineers :thumbsup2

More pictures of an empty park

The shops were still open so we nipped inside. Abbey, always a princess princess: thinks she might fit into an age 12 costume....

We headed to the village and took another poncho photo to send to Mark, which amused him..

Next stop was World of Disney. Abbey got a Monsters Inc shopper bag but we didn't see much else we fancied in here. We wandered the shops through the village and got salt & pepper shakers, ice cream scoop and the posters that I'd been wanting since seeing other Dis reports :thumbsup2. We nipped into the shop in the hotel to pick up some juice for later and fell into our room for showers, pj's and hot chocolate. Lewis couldn't find another pen in the room so he went back to the shop and got some pencils and also a keyring that I'd said earlier that I liked....awww, he's so thoughtful

All tucked up, lights out by 10.30 as we were all exhausted. It had been a tough day but I was glad we'd stayed out as I'd really have regretted it if we'd given in to the blinkin' rain :umbrella:

Lewis wanted to do EMH in the morning....would we manage it and more importantly would it still be bucketing down? :boat:

It seemed busy with people but the rides were so quiet. With the exception of Crush I think we didn't see anything over 20 minutes. Hope it's not too busy for you!

Great update. Remy area looks fab. That wasn't there the last time I was in Paris

Shame about the rain - but the ponchos are fetching! It was hard work wearing them in WDW in the pouring (and I mean bucketing) rain and 40 degree heat! It was like boil in the bag - ha ha!

I love the Ratatouille area too - it's so pretty and well done. When we went to Epcot this summer at WDW the French bit is really like this area - I wondered if they'd taken inspiration from it actually.

Aw Lewis is so sweet remembering about the things you said you liked and going and getting them!

Boil in the bag, lol - we got a bit hot too but thankfully not too much!

I'm loving reading your trip report and looking at your photos. :goodvibes

When I got half way through this day and read about the poncho purchases I thought, "What no photos..." but you stepped up to the mark further on! :rotfl:

Sorry you missed the stunt show, we saw it on our trip so must have been lucky in catching it before it closed.

Nice to hear about Inside Out featured in AOA, we didn't think of doing it this time so will put it on the list for the next trip.

Beautiful pictures of the Ratatouille area and nice that you obviously weren't hurried out of there.

Looking forward to reading further days... :)

Glad you're enjoying reading along :thumbsup2 Had to get proof of the ponchos :rotfl2:

We've done AOA a few times over the years and last year they featured Frozen and previously Cars. I suppose it doesn't cost much just to add in clips of a new film.

I loved taking those pictures of the Ratatoullie area  From the first we saw it last year I'd been desperate to get empty pictures!

Another great installment Julie, you made the best of the poor weather. Loving the BCR photos - I really wantt o try it and don't think the kids will want to go in January. Maybe I can have a "send them to McD's and go have something nice by myself" day? :rotfl2:

Also loving the sock posts - looking forward to seeing what you wear next. :thumbsup2

Do it Anne - it's a beautiful restaurant - once they see it they might love it! Get them watching Ratatoullie from now on.....

All socks were from Primark - I'm not a big Disney clothes wearer to be honest so it's my way of being Disney ;)
