I'm really curious to see whether they'll still have the castle lighting alongside Dreams - I guess we'll just have to wait and see!
To pass the time, I thought I'd share some of the changes that have taken place in our lives since we got engaged in DLP last year! Obviously it was going to be a very life changing experience, but we never could have anticipated to quite what a large extent!
Grant switched uni courses, and in January we put down the deposit on our first flat together. Naturally I spent months planning and making lists of all the things we'd need (including lots of kitchen bits I'm hoping to pick up in DLP this time around!) - I'm an obsessive planner in all areas of life! Speaking of which, we've set the wedding date for the first week of September 2014. We're having the reception at my parent's place in Cornwall (they have more than enough room for a nice marquee!), so we're trying to hunt down the perfect nearby ceremony venue. WDW is on the cards for our honeymoon
We moved into the new flat in September just in time for the new uni year. I study English Literature with Creative Writing (specialising in writing for young people and feature journalism), and Grant studies Creative Media Practice with Photography (no scientists or mathematicians in this house!). We've fallen in love with our flat and it already feels like home. They may be student digs but we've tried our hardest to make it feel as homely and welcoming as possible.
Grant earns a living by working in bars, cafes... the traditional student route! My career is more freelance. I piece things together through my blogging, one-off writing/design jobs, and modelling. I'm in the process of signing with a London model agency so hopefully that will make my work more stable! However, I've been extremely lucky in my unsigned work. I've won several national competitions and done a beauty spread for Company magazine. My writing isn't going too badly either. My fashion and lifestyle blog (
The Briar Rose Blog - Disney influences abound!) has earned a bit of recognition recently and right now I'm working on a piece about Bath and Bristol for Grazia Local South West.
Compared to where we were on the run-down to last year's trip (two students who weren't entirely sure where they were heading!), we're in a far more stable and happy position. Whilst there may not be that magical mystery this time ("Will he ask?" "Is that a ring box in his coat pocket?"
), I'm just as excited about escaping to Disney! It's been an amazing year, but extremely full-on, and I can't wait to put down the phone/camera/laptop and forget about my emails and uni work for a week!
I've started putting together very rough meal plans. I'm thinking...
Day 1 - A late lunch at Blue Lagoon, followed by the first night tradition of hotdogs at Casey's.
Day 2 - Counter service for lunch (probably Bella Notte) and dinner at Inventions.
Day 3 - Lunch at Walts and dinner at Annette's.
Day 4 - Counter service for lunch (unsure which one) and dinner at Planet Hollywood.
Day 5 - EoS for lunch before we catch the Eurostar home!
I'm not sure yet. After looking at the menu for Auberge I've decided to do Inventions as our character meal instead. It was just too expensive and there was nothing on the menu that got us really excited! I know that Planet Hollywood hasn't got the best reputation, but I've had a couple of nice trips there with my family and the portion sizes are undoubtedly good value (for DLP at least!). Plus DFi liked the look of the menu!
