Just wondering what you folks out there do on the first day/night. Lving LGA @0640am so should Arv MCO @0915am.... traveling with DD7, DN9, DF27 & DM55. After getting luggage, p/u car, getting food & hopefully ck/in ASMo should be in room by about 1300(1pm). I want us to be able to get up early for the first full morning. Pls help give advice on what to do...I know the girls will want to hit the parks but I want us to go to bed early so that we can rise early & enjoy a full day at the Magic Kingdom.

Thanks for reading, now pls leave some type of advice..........................PEACE!!!!!!!!! <IMG WIDTH="15" HEIGHT="15" SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif" alt="razz">

My family usually unpacks and goes for a swim and has a early dinner the frist night. If there is time we will go to Downtown Disney. It gives a taste of Disney without wasting a day of our hopper tickets.

My kids are a little younger and I would also say donwtown disney and time at the pool. Another option could also be after the pool go to a character meal for dinner. There are a couple at disney hotels not in the parks. I know Chef Mickey's is at the contemporary and there are a few others you can look into. That is what we are doing.

I like to go to Chef Mickey's for dinner to get meeting The Mouse out of the way and then I ride the monorail round trip. We ask the CM at the Contemporary's station if we can sit up front with the driver. It makes for a very magical start to our vacation.

...we will get to the hotel mid afternoon once the place comes in....I will check into the hotel, get the kids lunch and then nap.

When the kids wake up, if the do, we will hit a character dinner. If time allow, a quick swim and then baths/bed.

Both of my children are under three so I really have to play by their rules!! There will be so much stimulation with the plane ride we will just have to roll with the punches.

Can you ride the monorail and visit Downtown Disney without using your hopper? We arrive early afternoon.

Disney Springs/Downtown Disney - because who knows if your flight will have delays, or the hotel won't be ready, or someone will have gotten sick, or someone really needs a nap, or etc. etc. and I would hate to miss a FP or an ADR (or a day of a ticket!) because of that. We go, hit some of the shops, get my DH's fave (Earl of Sandwich), my fave (Ghiradelli sundae) and just soak in the atmosphere. Kids play in the fountains and hopefully next trip when they're older we can do Legos and some of the more fun store stuff. It's also a good way to get the "must get" souvenirs out of the way (Christmas ornament for my mom, etc) in a place where we know we can find them and they have all the time in the world to get back to our room.

I like the Chef Mickey & ride around the monorail plan too...we've not done that before but might try it next trip if we have enough of a buffer between scheduled arrival and the ADR. Or Ohana...yum.

All of these things (resort restaurants like Chef Mickey, Disney Springs, monorail ride, etc) do not require a theme park ticket day.

The first day you can make low key and get all of your stuff done that day. Maybe just go for a bit like an hour or two or just make it a pool day. I don't have any expectations for our first day, we are flying first time and arriving in the early a.m. Which will be something different for us. I plan on getting up whenever and will probably hit park later on for a little while, then spend time at the pool. The second day will most likely be better for us after a good night sleep

We usually swim and go to chef mickeys for dinner.

Sadly, our next trip in 2 years we are going to skip CM. We love it but all my kids will be a Disney adult and I need to cut back somewhere and that is what we chose.
