Hoop De Doo??

Thank you all. :thanks: I am going with the reservation AFTER Animal Kingdom, I will try and get ct1 as there really is not too much difference in the price and take the boat from MK...... check this plan off my list :D
Was just about to reply but saw that you are doing all of the things I would have suggested. :teacher:. HDDR definitely shouldn't be done on arrival day, because heaven forbid you have a travel delay and you can't get a refund.

This is one of our must-dos on every trip. We have always gotten cat 2 and the seats are great anywhere in the place. We love the corny jokes and comfort food and unlimited sangria and ice cold A/C! One of our favorite parts of the night is the relaxing boat ride to and from the MK. Hope you enjoy it!

Now that the OP appears to be done with this, I'm going to piggyback off of it. I've been pretty indecisive on where to eat on our MK day. I've gone from Whispering Canyon to Chef Mickey's and now back to Whispering Canyon. However, I have had a LOT of people tell me that our all adult group should scrap both of them for Hoop Dee Do. My questions: Is unlimited beer (within reason of course) really included? What kind/brand of beer is it? Would it be worth taking 3 hrs out of our MK day to do it at 4:00pm? (I assume 2hrs for the show and an hour for the boat ride back and forth) Is the show that good?

Just my opinion, but I am not a Chef Mickey's fan. I find the buffet less than appetizing. We will be doing th HDDR for the first time in April. You may want to check out the new restaurant in MK--Skipper's Canteen. But no ADR's as of now. Walk up only.

yeah, we're skipping Chef Mickey's. Now the dilemma is Whispering Canyon or Hoop De Doo. This is our only MK day, but I think the rest will do us good to give us our second wind to complete the night. I'm still curious about Hoop De Doo though: My questions: Is unlimited beer (within reason of course) really included? What kind/brand of beer is it? Is unlimited beer (within reason of course) really included? What kind/brand of beer is it? Would it be worth taking 3 hrs out of our MK day to do it at 4:00pm?

1) Yes.
. . . below listed alcohol is unlimited
. . . yes, it is worth the time from MK
2) Unlimited Alcoholic Beverages
. . . Fox Brook Chardonnay
. . . Fox Brook White Zinfandel
. . . Fox Brook Merlot
. . . Bud Light Draft Beer
. . . Yuengling Draft Beer
. . . Beso Del Sol Red Sangria

Is the show that good?

1) Yes.
2) And the title song, "Hoop-Dee-Do . . . Hoop-Dee-Do" will stick in your mind.
3) At least the song is not as insidious as "it's a small world".
4) But, it does keep coming back, much like Muppets "Mahna, Mahna"
.
NOTE: Now, try NOT to think about the Muppets song !

Ok, my next question is about the seating. I watched a little bit of one of the youtube videos and I see that the people on the main floor can end up becoming part of the show. I saw in an earlier post that people on the main floor get their own tables while those up top (section 3) sit family style with other guests. My question is which section do you think would be best for our group. There are 4 of us. We would prefer not to be part of the show, but just spectators. We would also prefer to have our own table rather than be seated with others. Price isn't an issue. Can we ask to be seated at the back of section one? Are the section 2 seats family style or separate tables? Are the section 2 tables on the main floor or balcony? How is the view from section 2 and 3? Thanks for all the help. I really think we are going to drop whispering canyon for HDDMR.

. . . ALL tables are served Family Style.
. . . All floor tables get pretty good action.
. . . The balcony tables get decent action.
. . . If you do not want action, tell your SERVER when seated, then just "wave off" the performers if they come

HOOP-DEE-DO-REVIEW TICKET AND SEATING "411":
1) HDDR tables are prioritized in category by WHEN the ressie was made
. . . whether via phone or on-line.
. . . example: a Cat-1 ressie made in January gets a better table than ressie made in February
. . . example: a Cat-1 ressie made within 7-days of the show gets Cat-1 leftovers
2) Tables are manually assigned on 8th day before the show date.
3) Last minute ressies are assigned to the next open table in order.
4) There are no requests allowed for tables.
5) The earlier ressies are made, the better table location.
6) Exception: #044 & #045, kept for last minute handicapped guests.
7) Table numbers do have meaning,
. . . EXAMPLE: table #052
. . . 0 = floor-level
. . . 5 = fifth-row-from-front
. . . 2 = second-table-from-left (when facing the stage)
8) Tables may be moved around to accommodate number of guests.
9) Only one family/group is usually seated per table. *
10) Distribution of tables and categories, prior to any combining of tables.
. . . Cat-1 tables are main floor back to row8, they are the best seats
. . . Cat-2 tables are the seven tables in row9 on main floor
. . . Cat-2 tables are the last four on left/right wings
. . . Cat-2 tables are the eight rear balcony tables facing stage
. . . Cat-3 tables are the eight tables on both balcony sides
. . . Cat-2 and Cat-3 tables may have posts in the viewing way **
. . . Cat-3 tables require one-half of the table to turn around to see
11) DDP Credit Use
. . . 4:00pm show = 2TS for Cat-2 and/or Cat-3, no Cat-1 using DDP credits
. . . 6:15pm show = 2TS for Cat-2 and/or Cat-3, no Cat-1 using DDP credits
. . . 8:30pm show = 2TS for Cat-1, Cat-2 and/or Cat-3
12) Ticket Pick-Up:
. . . up to 7-days prior to show date at any Concierge or any Park/DTD Guest Services
. . . within 2-hrs prior to show-time only at HDDR Box Office at Fort Wilderness
. . . box office windows are to the left of Pioneer Hall at FW
.
* There are four large tables for big families. If there are no big families (which seldom happens), they will mix small families of 2-4 to fill the tables. This allows HDDR to maximize the seating, and revenue. If there are more than one group at the table, each group has its own "family style" menu items.
.
** I often assign seats for HDDR, and wince when I put folks behind pillars or have the pillars in their line-of-sight.

We have always gotten cat 2, since we use DDP credits, and had great seats and been on the main floor. We have never been seated with another family, but have always had more than 4 people. There is definitely a less chance of being pulled into the show if you're cat 3 in the balcony, but I'm not sure about the table configuration. The Rusty Scupper usually knows every helpful minute detail as seen above.:worship:

Thank you very much Rusty Scupper. And since I highly doubt you typed all of that out, I assume you copied that from somewhere that I probably could have found it if I'd only took the time to search, so my apologies for the laziness. I appreciate the help. One more thing. When riding the boat over from MK for the 4pm show, I'm assuming we should probably be at the dock by around 3pm to be safe?

For years I was extremely hesitant about trying HDDR but last August I caved and we went as a family for the first time....soooo glad I did!! Food was very good, the show was funny and yes, I will admit, having unlimited beer and sangria was not bad either :). I would so do HDDR again in a heartbeat over Whispering Canyon and even more so over Chef Mickey's.

As for timing, I would be at the MK Boat Dock by 2:45pm.
. . . if you "just miss the boat", it could be 20-minutes for the next launch
. . . the ride is about 20-miutes from MK to The Fort
. . . the walk form the FW boat dock to Pioneer Hall is approx 10-minutes, or 5-minutes if you hustle
. . . even if/when early, sitting and people-watching is pretty entertaining
.
NOTE: Once you attend the early HDDR show, do not be in a rush to leave The Fort. We like to early show, then mosey over to the Chip-n-Dale Campfire to cap-off the evening. It makes for a pleasant night.

. . . most resorts have a separate bus to Fort Wilderness after 5:00pm

NOTE1: We find this to be a really great activity for either the first night at
WDW, or the last night before going home. Good time for family bonding, and
nice to veg-out. Do a Trails End dinner or Hoop-Dee-Do prior to Campfire.
.
NOTE2: For an option, you could view the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach.
. . . Wilderness Lodge at approx 9:35pm
. . . Fort Wilderness at approx 9:45pm
. . . the parade goes dark if Wishes is at the same time and it is still near MK
. . . then the parade resumes

Hi

Do you know if I made reservations today for a July 26th date. Would my table be front and center or front to the side? THANKS

1) It all depends upon how many others got their ressies before you.
2) Tables in each category are assigned by date/time of the ressie.
3) We get the ressie listing on the 8th day prior to the show.
4) We then sit in the Box Office (to the Left of HDDR) and manually assign tables.
. . . for the floor, we start at the center and work outward
. . . exceptions are made based upon the group size
. . . example: a group of eight people would not be against the "rail" (stage), but a group of two could be

oh, then my chances are pretty good, because I doubt anyone will book as far in advance as me and we are a party of 2! hehe

Also, I read you said it was a good idea to go to the chip n dale campfire. Do you think this would be too hot to do for the end of July? I'm thinking we might pass out from the heat? lol Also should we be concerned about the Zika virus?

1) It might be warm at the campfire, but still GREAT FUN.
2) Keep hydrated, and you won't pass out.
3) AT THIS TIME, don't worry about Zika (unless you are pregnant).
4) The only cases in Florida, so far, are due to those who traveled or had sexual contact with a person with Zika already

NOTE: I am not a doctor, and I don't play one on TV, so my Zika comments come from news sources. You should, keep checking with the CDC webpage regarding Zika.

I'm quoting you cause you're the expert. :)

I'm on the ddp and I know it's two credits, but do I have to pay in full on my credit card now? And get reimbursed later? I'm not sure. I was thinking that maybe I don't have to pay in full now cause of the ddp. Confused.

I couldn't figure out how to use my credits on MDE (maybe someone else can help) so I called to book. They used my credits and took the credit card for the now show guarantee only

Advice for transportation: Take the boat from the Magic Kingdom. The Fort Wilderness boat dock is within sight of Pioneer Hall where Hoop-de-Doo is held. You can also just drive yourself to FW, and take the shuttle to the back of the campground.
