Maybe dont go on a ride while its POURING out with a 4 year old?
Here’s the thing- to be fair- I’m not from Florida. And I rarely go. All I ever here is “oh that’s flordia weather for you.” So while I was taken A back by the weather- I saw people lined up to get in with little kids. ALso- the park is operating. The ride was open. Yes it felt intense, but given these facts I thought maybe this was normal and okay

As SOON as they said only one stand was open for “employee safety” we left.

FYI we have had excellent experiences with first aid in the parks. I implore all guests to familiarize themselves with the location of FA in each park. Especially if you have little ones.

It is totally unacceptable for the cast members to behave that way when you were asking for help for your injured child. I hope Disney does something to remedy the situation. I'm sorry that you and your child had to go through that.

The CM at the attraction should have been much more responsive to begin with. A child's leg gets stuck under a ride and he just sends them on their way.

OP, I am so sorry this happened and hope you are both having a better day today.

Lol
The parent shares the responsibility of the injury. Common sense would of have prevented what occurred.
lol to be honest I actually was thinking (as a law student) hmm I wonder if Florida is a contributory or comparative negligence state, because I do feel like I should take some of the blame.

I must admit though, I’m not from here and seeing the event and ride open, as well as others with little kids l, I thought maybe this was “typical” Florida weather. As soon as I was told some stands were closed for safety of workers we LEFT.

Looking back, we should have skipped whole thing. I was trying to make my kiddo happy - it was our only chance for AK. I thought we could make silly crazy memories in the rain.

Even if we don’t blame Disney for the injury (which I do, in part) I do blame them for their reaction, or lack of.

I feel for you OP. That sounds horrible. No need to justify yourself. I would assume AH event has less CMs working and possibly younger CMs working a PT shift. That can be a recipe for disaster in certain situations. So I believe your experience.

It would never occur to me that Dinosaur would be a dangerous ride in the rain. I would have gone on it with a 4 year old in your situation.

We had one experience with an “injury” and it went well. We were at the poly pool and DD picked up her mug and a bee stung her. She screamed and I looked at it and about 3 CMs swarmed is immediately. They gave her a band aid and made sure she was ok. But they were quick and unexpected.

As a parent I can see how you were just trying to squeeze in a memory before your trip was over. I think people either fall into the 'make the best of it' category or they do not. I think I'm pretty darn safety conscious, especially when it comes to my kids, and can see myself making the exact same choices.

While others seem to doubt your version of cast members not helping you, I believe you 100%. A few years ago when I asked several (at least 8 at several locations) CMs where I could get children's pain meds I was directed to every shop in MK (one even told us to ask at Pecos Bills because "they might have it behind the counter"????). Not one told me about the First Aid center. When I got back to the resort and was buying the Tylenol at the resort gift shop the CM there asked why they didn't send me to First Aid. So the CM in the POR gift shop had better training about MK than several MK CMs did.

As others have said. It was unfortunate that the weather was so bad for your after hours event.
If you haven't, I would talk to guest services about your experience. They should make things right. Either refund the money or give you a ticket for a different night if that is an option.
I am surprised at the behavior of the CM at the ride. That is so out of character from what I have seem of CMs, but that certainly doesn't mean it didn't happen. Again, bring it up to Guest Services as that behavior needs to be corrected.

Definitely visit guest services if you have time, or email if you are headed home. You absolutely should have not only been directed to guest services, but helped there if you couldn't manage it on your own since you were alone and he's young.

Rain happens, accidents happen, hysterics from young children happen. The most disturbing thing about this whole episode is the lack of CM assistance. At the very least they should have directed you to the First Aid station and preferably one of them should have accompanied you to the station.

OP - I’m sorry this was such a bad experience for you. It’s so disappointing when you look forward to a special event and making some memories and end up with a horrible experience instead.

In sorry that your child was injured and hope he is doing well. I suggest you go to Guest Services and let them know what happened. Disney cannot fix things (experiences) they don't know about.

Express your frustration with them. They will try their best to make this right.

Please know that if you are fortunate to be in Disney again, plan on taking your own "first aid kit". When kids were young i included children's tylenol, bandaids, Neosporin, and adult medication. Throughout the years, I've learned that when you need "band aids, etc" you are usually in the back of the park. The first aid stations are in the front of park. Stores do carry medicines behind the counters, but not necessarily the brand you use and are quit e expensive.

I'm not excusing the cast members for not offering assistance, but the store (I realize it was closed), but that was probably the nearest place to get bandaids.

Now that you mention that I had the same thing happen to me at MK when I was looking for Tylenol for DDs headache. I was directed to every single shop and finally found some behind the counter at the shop in Frontierland. No one mentioned FA and it didn’t occur to me to go there for Tylenol. I thought I had to buy my own.

The FA station in Epcot was such a glorious peaceful respite when I went there with a migraine that I considered hanging out longer just for the peace and quiet. They happily handed over ibuprofen for DH and I whine both had headaches (not drinking enough water and we made he mistake of having a margarita...neither of us ever drinks alcohol. Bad idea)

I'm sorry, is Disney the parent or are you? Yes what they did was unacceptable but take responsibly for your actions on taking a 4 yr old to an after hours event in what many have said was a thunderstorm. Then dragging that child around in pouring rain. Hell no! Screw the money my child's well being is priority one.
Her main complaint was not that he slipped but that no one helped her afterward. So do you think the CMs should have said “oh that’s what you get for taking your child in the rain??” It doesn’t matter how she got there! In the end, she needed help & it’s the CMs JOB to provide that help. Hope you show your children more empathy than that.

OP, I am so sorry this happened and I hope guest services can do something to make it better, even though it is too late to make it right.

I just wanted to share a story of Disney going above and beyond when dealing with an injury. Last year, my son bumped his head during breakfast at Crystal Palace and got a small cut over his eye. One of the CMs immediately got the manager, who walked us personally over to first aid. They washed the cut and applied a butterfly closure and gave my boys dozens of stickers, and then we walked into the lobby of FA to find the manager of Crystal Palace still waiting for us. He escorted us back to the restaurant and back to our table, which they had saved for us since we had not seen Eeyore yet. Everyone was kind and concerning throughout the process. They whole thing only took probably 15 minutes, but I have no doubt that manager was busy and had other things he could have been doing with that 15 minutes. The fact that he took the time to make sure my son was taken care of and that my boys got to finish our Crystal Palace experience was really unexpected and greatly appreciated. That is how injuries should be handled every time, at least in a perfect world.

I really hope Disney makes it right for you, OP. At the very least, train attractions CM to ask if you need assistance when an injury occurs.

We had a child injury on one of our last trips. We were waiting inside by the entrance to Tony's Town Square for our tour. You are supposed to be there early, but we ended up waiting for people who were late...so we are waiting with our 3 kids for quite some time. Our daughter (3 at the time) decides it is a good idea to balance herself between two tables because she is restless at this point, she face plants (totally our fault for not seeing what she was doing) and her nose is bleeding. CMs rushed to help us, first aid came to us, CMs got her a new shirt. While the tour had to go, we got a full refund without asking (we couldn't reschedule).
[My daughter was fine and we didn't need a hospital visit or anything.]

Wow, so sorry this happened. Lesson for me there - if my kid gets hurt on a ride, make them call security. There could be a lawsuit there, since at the time Mom didn't know how hurt he might have been. There should have been a report made to a manager or security. Really bad training on Disney's part.

Yeah that sounds like a miserable experience, and I would be pretty upset if the the CMs did not provide any aid to my kid who got injured on a ride.

I would definitely look to get a refund.

I’m glad you had a better experience. Something along those lines is what I was expecting.

To be honest, I felt like many times the staff at Disney was just not helpful. I might have just been there on a bad week, but it seemed like no one cared to go above or beyond at all on my trip, which was frustrating because I spent a lot on this. (As does everyone.).

Another example to add to my rant.

I took my son to Boma one night. He is a picky eater, but I wanted one really nice meal while I was there.

Long story short, the kids selection seemed extremely small and all he would eat was macaroni And on top of that he only ate about 2 bites. When I asked for bill I asked for a to go box for the macaroni (his first and only serving btw). I just thought if he was hungry later he could eat it.

They acted like I was making a crazy and unreasonable request. Look- I totally get not taking advantage of a buffet but literally, I was paying 27.99 for him to eat two bites of macaroni. I just wanted to take to the room the rest of the macaroni on the plate. They seemed so flustered and finally brought me a TO GO COFFEE CUP to put the macaroni in. The macaroni filled up about 1/3 of the cup (to put in perspective how much food I was trying to take.) I spent $120 there for me and a 4 year old.

It was just mind blowing. It’s just not what I expected from Disney, and I started to think maybe I have unreal expectations- your response let me know there is Disney staff who take their jobs and customer service seriously.

Their reaction sucked, it should of been better. You dont need to be from Florida to understand the dangers of slipping and falling in the rain, "POURING" rain".
