Hotel check-in & parking question?????????

We plan to arrive at Universal early (probably around 9 or 10 AM)the day of our scheduled check in. Can we do the following:

Can you check-in, do the paperwork thing in the morning, but not expecting to get a room until later in the day? Go back later in the day, just to get your room keys if necessary.

If you can not check in early, can you leave your car in the hotel parking lot for the entire day, before checking in. Will you even be allowed to enter the parking lot that far in advance of your reservation.

I am of course assuming that there is some form of security monitoring who enters the hotel parking lots.

By the way we are staying at the Portofino.

You can check in as early as you like. You can park your car. You will receive your keys even if your room is not ready. You will need the room cards to be able to access the express lines for the rides at the park. Your room keys will not be activated until your room is ready but each person's name and date will be on the card as proof that you are staying at the resort.
