How can I get Gum off a shoe

The gum got on the actual side of the shoe not just the bottom. Its a mens dress shoe.

I've read that ice or peanut butter works.

If ice doesn't work try some Goo Gone. I've used that on all types of sticky residue.

If you put it in the freezer until the gum is completely frozen, it should pop right off.

If it doesn't pop right off (or there's some bits left), gently scraping it off with a butter knife should work. I'd start with the blunt-edge side first until you feel comfortable that you won't scrape the shoe.
