I love credit cards so much! v3.0 (see first page for add'l details)

It did the last time I had a 10% offer pre covid. Only seem to get 5% now. Don't see why it would stop, don't think they know what you are buying there.

It seems that if you use an offer, you get a lower offer later on. I've been using the Lowes offers consistently and they have reduced.

But, I've also had CVS offers that were 5% from get go.

Newbie question. I have a DC and tried for a Premier 2 days ago. Not approved. Not high enough credit score. I'm between 775 and 801 with all 3. But...I tried yesterday for Amex Platinum and got approved with 100k points and 10x groceries/gas. The AF is hard to swallow, but i managed to use my $20 streaming, $20 wireless, $50 Saks, and $35 Ubereats credits all yesterday after getting approved, lol. Still can't figure how to use the travel fee credits with no air travel for me on the horizon. But hate to waste it!

Any advice on when/what situation to retry for Citi? I'd really like to get more TYP, right now the ones i have via the DC card are not doing me much good. Although I really like using that card and find myself pulling it out in lots of situations.

I'm 6/24. Got CSP in October (which put me at 5/24) and Amex Plat yesterday.

I suppose my biggest goal at the moment - to take my junior DD on a graduation trip in 2022. That's kind of why I've been thinking about MR/TYP etc. But I'm new at the travel with points game so...

Citi has tightened up in the pandemic. Speculation on r/churning is 0/6 or 1/6 inquiries or new accounts (rather unclear from what I've seen).

For the airline credit, you can check Flyertalk for what works.

Did you select the Cruise and Tours option when you called? They operate more like a typical travel agency. As long as Disney is allowing third party sales, they should be able to get it.

Well, kind of. The first time I called I asked for them, but she said I had the wrong dept and transferred me. The next person said she needed my travel passcode, which I don't have /never remember setting up. She tried to transfer me to someone to verify my identity but hung up on me instead. The next time I used different prompts and the first person, who was on the cc side/dept transferred me someone in travel who said the tix weren't available. I should try again but since I have no idea what the travel password is or how to get to it I'm not sure how successful I'd be. 🤦‍♀️

Which is silly if part of the reason for the offer is to get me to use the card. Don't remember the last offer I used, probably starbucks. Most of mine are things I'd never buy/places I don't shop/eat or are only 5%. It's worse than amex, I use more of those offers though they also haven't been that good lately

I don't know what a travel passcode is either. Are the prompts still like what's described here? I did this some time ago. @LynnTH was able to get tickets recently, hope they can help.

I have a few questions about applying for the SW Performance as it would be my first bus card app. Is Chase approving many sole prop card applications right now? I have 2 options: my reselling business or use my professional service as the business (the field in which I am employed full-time but VERY occasionally do work outside that employment). I've read posts from earlier this year that Chase wasn't approving any sole prop apps.

Will a sole prop app be a hard pull on my personal credit? And lastly, if I'm denied, will that hurt my chances for approving for a personal SW card after 30 days?

They've loosened up some, but it's still rather unpredictable. Resale seems to be a good category though from the DPs I've seen. The hard pull(s) will be on your personal credit report, the new account if you're approved won't be.

I have a follow-up question for all of you who purchase a lot of visa GC. What system do you use to keep track of your spending with GCs? Since I can't just log onto an online account and see my purchases, I don't know how to track them. I just try to keep the receipts together with the card till it's done. Then, I keep some of the used cards in case i make a return because a merchant will want to put the credit back on the same card. I kind of hate GCs because they seem like such a hassle and they stress me out, lol. I'm sure there is a better system.

My DH was denied for sole prop, rental property last month. He was approved at 35 days after for a personal card.
Seems like rental businesses have been denied.

Looking for an Amex MR card for DH to park his MR with no AF. I can refer him to a BBP from mine with me getting 15,000 referral and him getting 10,000 SUB. Is this a good offer? I can’t remember what it was when I got mine but I was thinking the SUB was higher. However I believe the SUB for this card just a while ago was statement credits for things we wouldn’t use so wondering if we should go for this now?
I see I got a 15k SUB, but I think that's as high as it goes. It's still a good option to park your MR.

If you register the card, you will be able to see the charges on it.

I'm not in the 'a lot' category, but I don't like to have too many at one time as I am just naturally leery about losing them, having them stolen, etc. I guess they stress me a bit also. Last year I was stressed a lot until I used up almost all the gift cards I had, whether visa, MC, Disney, Home Depot or restaurant. Right now I have such a small amount it's not an issue.

I'm interested to hear what others say also. Since I plan on buying them for most of my Costco spend, I intend to buy about $500 at a time as that can be gone quickly at my house. As far as Costco returns, I can pass them any Visa and they will usually put the credit on it. Other stores such as Lowes or Home Depot - store credit.

Happy almost New Year everyone. I am working on our 2021 travel plans, we budget $10,000 for travel (this includes CC fees). Trying to figure out how much to budget for our Spain trip in July, air & lodging is already booked, just trying to figure out daily spending. We are doing 2 days in Amsterdam - the only reason we are going is to visit the Anne Frank's House. Followed by 12 days in Spain. About how much should we budget for food? There are 4 of us.
We also have a 7 day Disney World trip penciled in for early August and a week of skiing over Christmas. All that on our $10K budget.

I register all of mine because I sometimes use them online and because I almost always dump the balance on Amazon. I check the balance on the website and then write what's left with a sharpie on the front. Since I mostly use them at my chiro, they are used to it and know what I'm doing, or Costco where no else sees the card unless I'm using it in the optical dept amd that's only because they aren't letting people inside unless you have a dr appt so they have to scan the card.

Using a sharpie is a good idea. I guess I should start registering them. Being able to look up the purchases may ease my stress, lol.

I met the Amex Bonvoy Biz spend before my Dec statement closed and I didn't get the SUB. I chatted with them to make sure because I had met the spend because I was really close according to my calculations, I had me the spend but I he said they needed time to review the transactions. I guess the RAT team is working extra this holiday season. I was really hoping the SUB would post.
Well I'm glad to know I'm not alone at least. Now that I think about it, I had the same thing happen to my first Hilton AMEX, and it seemed like those took a couple months before they finally posted. At least I can go ahead with the plans we have and book once available and work on getting the points later on.

I budgeted $150/day for 3 adults and 2 kids. Came pretty close. I counted the food tour we did separately. We stayed in apartments and did breakfast in. Didn't eat anywhere particularly fancy, but had lots of tapas and seafood.

It sounds awful to me also. I'm so sorry she has to go through that, but I've got a pretty good idea why she would endure it.

Has she had any laser therapy?

Here's hoping they find a 'cure' or at least a therapy that is not so invasive.

i haven't heard her talk about laser therapy. I'll have to ask her. I know her retina specialist has said that they are making huge strides in treatments/cures. What she has is genetic and her sister who is 10 years older than her didn't have many options available when she started having problems and is limited now in what she can do that requires good eyesight. So sad.

This isn't going to be your best answer but I don't keep track of them that meticulously. I mostly use my VGC's on things like our utilities, ect. that I'm not going to have a refund on. For the times I use them for things that I might get a refund for, I write on the card with a sharpie - what it was, the amount and the balance and then I leave it with all my other cards. Every month or two I do a purge and get rid of them. I'm sure someone else might have a better system, I just don't usually use them on things that I might return. My VGC's are primarily for medical co-pays, haircuts and utilities.
