I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

Oh, I thought it would pull from checking. I’ll move some funds around.
Have you tried to ask at the CS desk if they can put a charge on your credit card and give you cash? Not sure if they would, but if they do it should show as a charge from RCCL (not a cash advance).

Looking for some advice...

I decided to buy 155 Grand Floridian DVC points directly from Disney and split the payments into 3 separate payments spread across 60ish days (down payment, payment #2 in 30 days, payment #3 in 60 days).

I put the down payment onto my CSR card (3x points), but was thinking of signing up for a new card to earn the signup bonus rewards.

I'm not anywhere close to the 5/24 rule for Chase and neither is my wife. I think the only card I opened in the last 24 months was the CSR and my wife only opened a store card with the local Tire shop for a discount.

My first question is currently 60k the best bonus offer for the CSP? Unfortunately I missed the 80k offer and sounds like opening the card in a Chase bank is gone too? I plan to sign up my wife for that card (she is already pre-approved for it) and then I can transfer the Chase Ultimate Rewards points to my account and use them with my CSR to increase their value. Should I wait until shortly before the last payment is due and hope the sign up offer gets better on the CSP?

Second question is - should I open a 2nd card and earn another sign up bonus, and if so - any recommendations on a card? Ideally it would be a card that tracks DVC purchases as Travel and earns extra rewards on travel, but it doesn't have to be.

I could easily charge the 2nd or 3rd payment to my CSR and earn the 3x UR points too with no signup bonus.

Likely whatever cards I open, I won't keep more than a year if they carry an annual fee like the CSP (I don't think it makes sense to keep a CSR and a CSP?)

I'll be paying off the charges in full within the grace period.

If it helps - I tend to mostly fly United Airlines (IAD is my closest airport which is a hub for United) and stay at Marriott hotels. I already have a Marriott Bonvoy AMEX (downgraded from the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant when they increased the annual fee).

Thanks!
DoC just reported this CSP link for 80k is still live. No idea of the origin or if it's sus in any way.

Also agree one or two of the $6k MSR Inks are great options for your family!

@Liquidice I would try and get your wife the 80K CSP. You can transfer them to your CSR with the 1.5 through the Chase Portal and if needed you could transfer to UAL since that is your preferred airline.

If this has been asked recently I apologize- I'm about 35 pages behind. For the saks credits, it there any way to split payment between two cards? Or can it be used to purchase a giftcard online at saks?

Okay I skimmed the posts I've missed in Mexico. We decided to swap our trip down to only 3 nights as my BF really needed to get back and prep for some work things. Well then he decided on the last day to go hard at the swim up bar w/ the good tequila. At 4am on go home day when I was still puking, I told him he needed to figure out how to book another night for us to stay, LOL. Thank god for non-rev flights as it was easy to book us new flights. We lost out $50 on the shuttle for not cancelling 24 hours in advance. And I think the hotel felt so bad, they didn't even make us pay the small daily fee (I think it's like $20, lol).

Now that I hit my spend on the Hilton Biz, and it posted, I guess it's time to figure out what card to go at next. I don't like how fast I hit the $4k (I did it before the statement even closed). But my son needed new skates....which was $850 alone! I also used my card to get my BF's new suit, which was another $500. So I guess it's not all organic, LOL. I'm shocked how fast I got the FNC email from Hilton. Within a few days of hitting the $4k, I had the email.

I see the Barclay AA Biz is an elevated offer again. I've been hitting barclay biz cards kinda hard this year (Jet Blue in Jan, Wyndham in March). I closed the AA Biz card in Dec 22. I opened it 10/2020. Any hard in trying to apply and getting denied? I'm sitting at 4/24 until August....then I drop to 3/24. So I guess I'm still looking at Biz cards. I guess if I don't do the Barlcay biz, I could do the Citi AA biz, since it's been 48 mos since my last SUB w/ them. Otherwise, not sure what other biz card to do. I have 2 CIC, 1 CIU and 1 CIP, so I don't think I need to try for anymore Ink right now. I'll close my CIP in August when it renews. Then maybe I'll think about doing another Ink, LOL.

I agree with what Calypso said about considering your overall goals and can also confirm that the FNCs take a long time to post. I have the Hilton biz and got the Aspire a few months ago. I love the Diamond status with the Aspire. That Surpass offer is a good SUB, so if it works with your plans I would go for it. You don't have to decide your next card right now.
I had the email I earned my FNC within days of hitting the spend. That said, not sure if it's officially in my account yet. I'll need to look. But I feel Hilton is always fast to post it.

I tried for the Hilton Biz even though I've had it (closed Jan 2021) since some have had success getting it again. No luck. There was a pop-up saying I've had the card before. Oh well. It was worth a try. I got approved for another CIC instead. :-)
Try the Doc link. I just earned the SUB again, I had the card in 10/19 and closed in 2020. I LOVE the FNC!

Thanks! I am going to apply for the 80K CSP card right now, awesome find!!!

EDIT- Had her apply and was instantly approved, says I should receive the card in 5-7 days. Time will tell if I got the 80K bonus or not, but I took a screenshot just in case!

well I got my amex platinum. supported by a reddit link! 125 mr
got the card one day, placed a saks order, it shipped and shows pending charge. so hopefully there's my first credit!

i switched sirius and peacock for the $20 monthly. I already prepaid the annual on my walmart+. didn't see a way to cancel and then go to monthly

not sure which airline to add. I'll be flying a lot of frontier for quick trips to Fl. I guess I can just buy the ticket, no bundle and add luggage later for the credit?

looked at FHR for overnight in baltimore $815! whoa.

anything I'm forgetting?!

easy to hit the msr, 6k in 6 months!

just finished msr on cic and working on msr for p2 bonvoy.

thank you again for everyone's help and advice

Retention was offered about a week after AF posted, and on first ask. We always call instead of chat, but not sure that matters.

Thanks. I decided to try again today via chat and after a bit of round and round, I got the $3k spend in 3 months for 20k MR. I took it since I was planning to keep anyway.

But I was about to give up and try calling tomorrow, glad that’s done.

You can try daily between now and the 30 day mark for a retention offer, and they could change daily. Our homeowner's went up like 25%, as well. I do think there is some market catch up. We use an independent agent, so it does make it easier to shop around. But I too put it on a card I was meeting MSR on, and so didn't want the hassle of the last minute change around. Next year for sure.

My homeowners is due 7/23/23 and will almost hit the spend I need for the 20k MR. But I really need to put this (shopping around) on my to do list for next summer. I suppose I should call them just to let them know that kind of increase was shocking.

Thanks everyone!

I've literally never seen (in person) a castle with no crowds. So jealous. Sounds lovely. Japan not really high on my bucket list before but this looks so fun.
We didn’t even show up extra early. We arrived at 8:10, they started letting people in at 8:30 and those pictures were taken at 8:45.
WOW, this is such a stark contrast to our trip in May with insane crowds everywhere. So jealous!! Have a fabulous rest of your trip!
I feel very lucky, today we didn’t even bother arriving before park opening.
That’s awesome about the low crowds! Much different than our experience in May of 2019. Kyoto was the absolute worst crowd wise. Now you’re making me worried about going next May instead of June 😆
That picture from Kyoto was taken at noon, we did have to wait a minute to make sure no one else was in our picture but it wasn’t crowded at all. I bet the weather is better in May.

Here's an article with a checklist for the platinum. So many of the benefits have to be "enrolled" so hopefully you did that first. Congrats!

Can confirm when logging into the Chase website, it shows an 80,000 UR bonus when I spend $4000 by the end of September! Thanks for the link for the 80K CSP bonus!

My mother is so bad at keeping up with the credits on her Plat that she gave me access to her account and told me to just use up the credits myself so I stop bugging her about it 😆

So, just bought something else I didn't need at Sak's... tomorrow I'll get started getting her some SW flight credits and think about what to do with the hotel credit... it just would bother me too much for all that to go unused if she's going to keep paying such a high AF!

Closed two Ink cards last week and just applied and approved for a new one. I'll use it to take care of Q3 taxes. Next up is to cancel one of my Amex Biz Platinums once I use the Dell credit.

On another note, is August a terrible month to visit Japan? We're from central Virginia so we are used to disgusting summer weather. May would be the other option. I know the weather is better but it can be crowded.

Guys, I have a notice from my informed delivery that there’s something from “passport services” being delivered on Friday (priority mail). Uhh… my renewal application was just received on 6/13. What could it be???

ETA: I just checked the status online, and it says Application Status is "Approved", and then says "You should receive your passport book on or around 07/04/2023". Wow. Does this mean my new passport is about to be here already? This is quite SHOCKING!!!

Yep. That’s crazy. Meanwhile mine was received 4/7 and still is in process.

Accckkk!!!! I didn't realize what day it was. I need to use my Dell credit. I jumped on the website and tummy need nothing they have in stock. I like the samsung earbuds... but they're over $200

I'm still in disbelief! I won't believe it until I open the envelope I'm sure. I absolutely cannot for the life of me understand why I would get my renewal in just 2.5 weeks while others are waiting for 12-13 weeks. It's kind of sickening to me actually, when I know others are stressing about theirs and trips they have planned. Because of posted wait times, I was counting on getting mine back in mid September, and it feels unfair to others that I'm getting mine now (even though I know this is out of my control completely). This is why they are the way they are.... apparently there's no order, rhyme or reason to passport services.

How about some smart home devices? I bought some hue devices. Nothing I would have bought otherwise, but now I have cool "bias lighting" behind my computer monitors. But yeah, it can get hard to use that credit...

Mine may be taking longer because it’s a name change. But my daughter’s took 12 weeks and my son’s took six. So something’s definitely a little weird.
