I have an SWA flight booked on May 1st to MCO. I booked Anytime fare with points. They just posted a reduced fare where I can switch to WGA+ and get over 10k points returned to me. I typically only do Anytime fares, but this seems enticing. Just DH and me booked on this flight. It’s a direct flight. I booked it on release day as soon as they dropped. Would you switch?

ETA- if I do switch to the WGA+ does that change my timestamp from when I originally purchased my ticket? I buy the Anytime tickets so I am pretty confident of having an A boarding position. It seems a lot of people have high A boarding with WGA+ also. I do have the SWA visa so I could upgrade to BS with my credits, if available. DH is my free Companion. Does the SWA upgrade credit work for his ticket?

The partner award availability is different than directly through JAL. I don't think they tend to release more unless it's very last minute (within 2 weeks). So you'd have to hope to catch a cancellation.

Have you checked other airports and repositioning? If you're going to Osaka or Kyoto, there's a direct KIX-LAX flight.

Thanks. I have looked at a few alternate routes from Tokyo (to LAX, SEA, SFO) but no luck finding JAL flights. Unfortunately, this will be a short trip only to Tokyo. And even more unfortunately, I am very late in starting to plan it.

It's hard to help without knowing approx. dates and what currency (airline, UR or MR). Have you tried points.me? I used AA points to book JL first class from Bangkok to Tokyo and used AC AP to book ANA first class to and from Tokyo from ORD. Dd and I flew into Osaka, out of Tokyo with AC on our first trip using AP points.

Dates are the first week of August. Currency I have looked at using so far is only AA miles--I don't see any good way to use URs or MRs but it's quite likely I am missing something.

I have not looked at Air Canada (had to Google that). I have zero AC points but it looks like I could transfer from Chase.

Hello! I finally caught up on the thread from before Thanksgiving!

Went on a 21 night cruise on the NCL Joy on 11/25. It was a back to back (11 nights + 10 nights). Got sick the day we disembarked to go home.

Had a ton of work and real life stuff to catch up on once I was feeling better.

I'm FINALLY ready to get back into the rewards game.

I've was experiencing a bit of FOMO about the Chase Inks after reading about the 90k SUB decreasing soon... But I'm letting it go...

I'm considering getting into the hotel rewards game. Specifically for status. I have a TON of UR points. So I was thinking of going the Hyatt route. Perhaps applying for both the personal and business WOH cards (one at a time).

I have a 55th birthday coming up this year. I think I decided to do a staycation in NYC (we live in northern Westchester in the summer) and will use points to stay in a Hyatt in the city. Can I book 2 room if our adults girls join us and get the credit for the nights towards the 60 nights needed for Globalist?

I'm aiming for some more inspirational travel (no plans yet) in 2025 and 2026. It will be our 30 wedding anniversary in Fall 2026. I need to prepare for a BIG trip now, even though, I don't know where I want to go yet.

We plan to stay close to home in NY and Miami in 2024. We need to get our house in NY ready to sale eventually. Hard to do that when we winter in Miami as snowbirds right now.

I figure we can find Hyatts to stay at along the NY- Miami drive back and forth. And just find cheap Hyatts to stay at for some staycation get aways.

Any tips or advice? I figure it's best to start as early in the year as possible!

I'm also thinking of getting into Bilt. My parents and I both have hefty condo fees in Miami. We also have condo fees for some investment properties we own. They all take payment through ClickPay. I read that people are getting rewards points on the Bilt credit card for ClickPay payments. If so, that is a lot of points we can get for condo fees we pay by ACH every month.

Any tips on Bilt? Is there support available on our Reddit? If I and DH (P2) each get a Bilt card (2 separate condo fees), I don't think the Bilt rewards can be combined like Chase URs? If I am chasing Hyatt Globalist status, perhaps I will transfer my points to WOH and DH transfers his out to some other travel partner...

Can he transfer Bilt points to his WOH account and then transfer the Hyatt points to my account?

As others have already said he’s gotta call but then he can give permission for you to speak.

This is the part I want to chime in on. Chase likely already was told the payment was coming when you stopped it. Next time you make a bill pay and it says it will arrive by X date- RELAX. Give it a couple days to credit on the other end if a holiday or weekend is involved. If you do get hit with a late fee ask them to waive it because you’re such a good client. If you can’t stop yourself from making a double payment, let it process. Then go ask the credit card co for a refund. Chase has a whole portal thing they’ll do to ACH overpayments back to you it’s really nbd. Worst that happens is they mail you a check and it’s a couple weeks before it arrives. I would never stop payment though. That is the sort of behavior that trips fraud alarms as you found out

Ah... well. I don't think I've ever done a stop payment in my life and I was concerned the bill pay got lost somewhere (or somehow credited to someone else's account... even though I was very careful about putting in the account number correctly) so I panicked a bit.

I went ahead and made the change. I figure getting back all those points was a great move and potentially another free flight in the future. I still have all 4 of my boarding upgrades that need to be used by July so that’s what we are going to aim to do.

Yes, usually Tuesdays, and it takes 2-3 weeks. I wouldn’t worry yet.

You would need to purchase EBCI if you downgrade to WGA+, otherwise you would be subject to whatever boarding positions are left when you check in. Depending on where you're flying from, I would expect WGA+ with EBCI to get a late A boarding group, but you would be after all the A List +, A List, Anytime fares and anyone with a WGA+ fare that bought EBCI before you. I would change and purchase EBCI, but I'm not that picky about where I sit.

My most recent TB purchase for 2x/ $100 was on December 20th, received the credit on December 29th. Showed up as United Airlines on my statement. I would expect to see the credit in the next few days. I certainly hope it didn’t change in the last couple of weeks. I’m depending on it for a flight this Spring. It is curious how it’s showing on your statement. Keep us posted.

Well of course I'm sitting here in class EXHAUSTED and kicking myself for not just going yesterday. It would have for sure been a bucket list event. A friend sent me a video from her seats. I asked her how much they paid. She said it's going to the grave, and her kids can't go to college anymore, LOL. I would have just looked as it was hitting a SUB, LOL.

The Hilton saga for my BF.....he called Amex yesterday. Call went no where so he asked for a supervisor to call him. They did last night and promise that they were going to put his points (80k, he did a 70k sign up) and 20k for the inconvenience and his free night. He's flying right now, so we'll have to see if they did it last night like they said.

We head to resorts world on Saturday with our casino matching. I have a rental car, so not worried about being further down the strip. I should look into a place for the BF to watch the Lions on Sunday. Does anyone know, does the $100 celebration dinner reset Jan 1? We have at least 1 more trip to Vegas before July so might hold off on using it since we have $100 at Resorts World.

Anyone experiencing long delays in Amex sub posting? I met the $15k Hilton FNC spend on 12/20 and still no sign of the cert. Also met the MSR on a Biz Gold on 12/30 and no sub yet either.

My BF hit his spend in August and hasn't gotten his. But I got mine when I hit my spend. So annoying!

Noticed that there was a HH FNC not showing online for dd, so I called this morning. The CSR confirmed that it was there. I tried to use it to make a booking at the Aleph Rome in October, but the system wouldn't allow it even though there was availability showing. The CSR wasn't helpful at all -- kept saying I must be doing something wrong because the night wasn't available. I decided to HUCA, this time using the diamond desk (my account). As usual, the diamond desk was amazing. The CSR immediately asked if I was trying to book for 1 or 2 people, and sure enough the Aleph restricts the base room type to 1 person. This isn't an issue because I'm traveling solo.

While we were chatting I asked her if there was a FNC in my account and guess what? There was! So the issue that has been ongoing since September has now been resolved for me (no bonus points showing yet, but I won't follow-up on those until I'm back from Thailand.

So my the 4 FNCs from new account sign-ups have now been used (2 nights for ds at the Hilton Paris Opera during the French Open -- I got o/s value -- booked base room for 80k pts / night, cash rate is $670.00). Since the room at the Aleph would only allow 1 person, the CSR had to book in dd's name, take out her name and add mine, which then made it disappear from her account, but she was then able to add it to my account. I am really going to miss diamond status when I lose it in a few months.

I got status with the Aspire card in December, 2018, gave it up in 2020. Was able to keep status through COVID, then last year re-qualified with a promo to stay 10 nights. Unless there is a promo this year I will go down to gold, which I'm fine with as it gives me free breakfast.

Speaking of status, I'm also losing platinum status with Bonblah (4 nights shy of re-qualifying, but couldn't bring myself to do a mattress run). I feel so free no longer feeling like I have to choose a Marriott property to keep status!

So you got the FNC but not the points? I'm hoping all his is fixed now. So annoying! I also got my Aspire in Dec 2018 and have been riding the diamond wave, LOL. I may upgrade to an Aspire again at some point. We'll see. My BF is getting stay credits at Hiltons now I think. So we'll see maybe he can "earn" it, LOL.

I have such PTSD, I don't think it's set in. I was crying last night missing my dad. He would have been on my couch watching the game annoying me. He also would have told me to go. When he died my sister and mom found his 97 hat, a never worn shirt and a well worn one. I wore the "new" 97 shirt yesterday. I was leary as my new tradition has been my #16 Navarre jersey and his Michigan Dad sweatshirt I bought him my freshman year in 94. I rolled the dice wearing the 97 gear. I guess it worked, LOL.

Two full weeks before I get nervous about an Amex credit. Airline stuff in particular has been slow the last couple months like 10-11 days. I hit all the credits on one of my plats Jan 1, only thing to credit so far is FHR.

My Dec 30 grubhub credit finally posted today. My jan 2 dl flight hasn't moved the tracker but my jan 4 d+ moved that tracker late Sun but no credit yet.

I hesitated to buy my flight on the 2nd but it had already gone up 10 bucks since last month, which is fine it was still under the 200 after the gc, but using any.credit at the beginning of the month, esp the beginning of the year always takes longer to credit. And we always worry more because what we've done shouldn't work and we don't want to be that dp

You can transfer MR or UR to most airlines; if any of them have available seats on points, then you transfer the points to the airline and book your seats. Use points.me to look for availability, then go to the airline to verify the availability (never transfer the points before checking with the airline). You'll also want to check the transfer time from AmEx or Chase to the airline (most are immediate, but sometimes it can take up to 48 hours).
