I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

Are people buying $50 gift cards with their Hilton Biz? Sorry, I've been a bit out of the loop and am home now trying to catch up on life (and figure out how to get myself down to SW Florida permanently).

Only problem with that is you have a nameless and faceless entity saying it.

I don’t think the issue is getting approved or not….its getting shut down by Chase for using a questionable link…it’s happened before

More approvals and one that said they were able to recon it. Also very small rumble that this link is what you get from a chase private banker. If true, that the person doing recon wasn't questioned with things they couldn't answer makes me more interested again, but as a P1 I don't want to lose all my ur but also as a P1 120k for 6k in spend is super intriguing.

Yes, it covers the entire amount including the 1.95 shipping.

I have a couple of card cancelations.

The fee just posted on my Venture card. Last month I canceled DH's as I had transferred all his points over to mine to pay off or DCL trip in Feb. I have a few points remaining. Is it worth the $95 fee to keep this card? Between 2 SUBs and the support points we paid for good chunks of the Starcruiser and a 5 night DCL.
You can try calling and asking them to waive the AF. I did this for both mine and DH’s card and they waived it for both. It was after it posted but within the 30 days so if they hadn’t waived it I could’ve closed it and gotten the AF refund.

Do you have another card to transfer UR's to partners with if this card is a transfer card? I just assumed it is since it has an annual fee.

I've been keeping my CSP as it has the $50 hotel credit making it a transfer card for half that fee. Once it hits 4 years, I'll adjust my strategy and reapply.
This is a point I hadn't thought about. I do have a CSR that I have used to transfer URs to Hyatt. I don't recall using the Ink Plus to transfer but I'll check to see if it has different transfer partners from the CSR.

New to this thread, and thought it a good place to ask about a card issue. This quarter (April-June), my Chase Freedom card has a 5% rewards for dining. So upon check-in at our hotel yesterday (Pop Century) I had the CM key in that card number for our Magic Bands. We charged breakfast and dinner using our bands.

The tickets show "Disney Parks" and the name of the restaurant. However, at the bank, the charge shows up as travel, rather than dining, which is a significant difference in rewards.

We have several kinda spendy sit-down meals reserved for this week, so there's enough money involved to get my attention.

We also have a Chase Sapphire Preferred that we normally use for hotel, air, train, etc. It has a better travel rewards rate than the Freedom, but not the 5% dining reward.

Any suggestions from card experts is welcome
The Chase Freedom also has Hotels as a category -

EARN 5% CASH BACK AT AMAZON.COM, HOTELS AND RESTAURANTS

Forgive me as I haven't been to the parks in a while, but do Magic bands not charge back to the room now? Used to all roll up as a room charge so I'd think your transaction would fall within the Hotel category and still get the 5%. Please someone correct my understanding if needed, I am woefully outdated after they updated how pending authorizations work a while back. But if it posts fully, check the points earning on the transaction. If it didn't pick up the Hotel category, ask the desk to change your card and see if they can reverse the previous charges. At least you may be able to salvage something more than 1% on those first charges.

(I last did the parks right as Genie+ released but was only there for a couple nights and just paid by GC everywhere and didn't bother with the bands much. So I haven't kept up with the new technology.)

Also, remember that it's $1,500 combined for the whole quarter. So you may have other charges that make up for any missed meals at the start.

wish this would have been out there when DD applied last week. She had no business cards, so would have been worth the risk and she could sure have used the extra points.
I will be interested to see if anyone reports getting a match on this.
P2 just got a new one a few days ago too LOL, such bad timing. But not willing to risk my stash. I have a TON of URs

Hello, new here (introduced myself last week), and looking at getting another card, but wanted some feedback as I'm new to all of this. I've been sent an offer for a $300 SUB with $500 spending in 3 months for a Capital One Quicksilver that I am currently considering.

The only card I have applied for (and approved) this year (or since 2021) was 03/24 on a Wells Fargo Active Cash

We also have:
Disney Chase Visa (DH primary, me AU)
Amazon Prime Chase Visa (me primary)
Amex Blue Preferred (DH primary, me AU)
Discover It Miles (me primary)

I did not realize until reading more about using credit cards that being an AU was different than being a card holder.

Our card spending is approx. $4-5K a month (four tween/teen boys at home and it is almost all groceries)🤣

We pay off our cards every month. Occasionally we will take advantage of a zero percentage financing for an appliance replacement, etc.

We do not currently fly much, with four kids we tend to drive for most of our travels. Our closest airports are PVD and BOS. Southwest does fly out of both.

I have no preference for a hotel rewards program and do not have any travel points or miles with any program.

My specific goal currently for churning is for an upcoming Disney Trip and in general I would like to keep churning for travel and recreation. We have an upcoming trip to Disney in August of this year that I am saving for.

Our travel party for this trip includes myself and my husband, my four kids (17, 15, 12, 9), my mother and possibly a girlfriend (16).

Thanks for any advice!

AMEX Gold card looks like it would fit in perfectly for your spend. 4x MR on groceries and restaurants. $250 AF but you can get $240 back in credits with Grubhub and Uber. This card has paid for just about all of my trips to MCO the last 5 years.

hmmm, I'll take a look at that one. I get 6% right now on groceries with Amex BP and because we live rural we don't use Uber/Grubhub much, but maybe we would on trips....going to check it out now, thanks!

Your Blue Cash Preferred only gives 6% on the first $6k. I only have two boys but I know my grocery costs are much more than $500/month. I couldn't imagine what it would be with 4. The Gold offers 4x on up to $25k. Depending on where you are, it also includes Meijer stores which sells just about everything.

There are more lucrative SUBs out there. On Capital one, you could look at the Venture Rewards card. $95 annual fee but you get a 75,000 point reward with $4k spend. That is $750 towards travel spend. Can be used on tickets from Undercover tourist or other travel coded expenses. And earns 2 points/dollar compared to Quick silver's 1.5.

I am NOT a churner, but feel like it's time to get a new card.

I have been waiting patiently for an elevated offer on the CSP (80K or 100L URs) for my P2(DH). Still waiting, but over the last two weeks, I booked a few vacations for later this year and used up almost all of my URs (and MRs!). Happy to travel for next to nothing, but want to see my UR balance go back up.

I have a few questions about the CIP - I am a legit sole prop., so I qualify no problem. I see that it currently has a 100K offer for an 8K spend. I can handle that spend for personal purchases, but not my business. I do have a few large personal purchases coming up. My business has relatively little/no expenses.

My main question is can the CIP URs be easily combined with my CSP/CFF/CFU URs? Is that even necessary? I currently pool CFF and CFU to my CSP. My most used card right nowis the CFF, followed by the CFU (categories), Discover (categories) and AMEX Everyday. I keep the CSP just to transfer URs to. I do use the CSP a few times a month- online groceries and a few other expenses. I need to know the logistics of using CIP URs with my personal cards.

Anything I should look out for when using the CIP for personal purchases? Anything else to know about Chase business cards? I usually ignore any talk here about business because I really don't want to go there - but might if the CSP doesn't offer something elevated soon.

I am under 5/24 - I haven't checked in a while, but I might even be 0/24 as I feel like it's been more than 5 years since my last card. DH is either 1/24 or 0/24.

ETA: Should I be looking at the Chase Ink Cash instead of the CIP? and wait for an elevated offer on the CSP? Does the Ink Cash earn URs?

Not sure where exactly you're located but sounds like you could be in driving distance of Hartford/BDL. BOS/PVD are our airports, too, but sometimes it's enough of a savings that we drive the 2 hours to BDL. Just something to keep in mind in your searches!

Yes, you can combine all URs onto your CSP.

I put all charges on my biz cards, not just those for the business.

I usually pick CIC because I buy the no fee VGC/MCGC at staples for 5x. I can use on utilities, property taxes, …. If I have upcoming expenses where I can’t use GCs, I go for the CIU. Both are URs and I pool on my CsR. I’d do a quick analysis of how many URs you expect to earn (ie any GCs, or other extra categories) and pick from there.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!!

We bought a split king setup about 10 years ago, with separate platforms that can flex to provide head elevation/zero gravity positions. And we got Casper original mattresses which have been really comfortable. DH no longer has back pain! The downside is that it’s not aesthetically appealing with the visible seam down the middle of the bed, but there’s probably workarounds that I haven’t explored.
This is us too. Split king, head elevation, zero gravity settings - all ideal post back surgery. We all deserve one!

Hoping to get advice on starting to use rewards cards. Wife and I both have no new cards last 24 months, Southwest Airlines is nearby, our credit scores are about 820, our goals are disney trip, possible family trip to Ireland. Advice greatly appreciated! The whole process seems a little overwhelming and a road map would be a great help. Thanks in advance!

Back from Vegas where we stayed at the Hilton Elara on timeshare exchange. This is the trip that I wanted the painful Wyndham biz card for. Caesar's status match turned out to be painless. Wyndham Diamond showed up the day after approval and Caesar's match only took 6 days. I didn't end up using the benefits as much as I'd hoped though.

- Thought we'd have to pay for parking at the Elara for $18/day. They share a parking garage with Planet Hollywood, so parking would have been free with Caesar Diamond. But then turned out we didn't have to pay for Elara parking on exchange.
- Thought I'd get the $100 celebration dinner, but it never showed up in my account. Was told that with status matches, you only get it after 100 credits. From what I could find, that's true EXCEPT for match from Wyndham Diamond. 🤷‍♀️

- We did get free parking visiting other Caesar's resorts and saved $100.
- Got 2 free tickets to the High Roller Wheel. This is once a month, so I thought I could stack for our group, getting 2 in March and 2 in April. But nope, they expire 3 days after you get the voucher OR end of the month, so no way to use 2 month's worth at once. Thought I was being so smart, but the casinos are smarter lol.
Heading to Vegas end of month. 3 nights at Paris. Free with Caesars Promo and SW Flights on points. I too have the Status Match from Wyndham. Every time I want to use the $100 Dining Credit - I also need to reach 100 points first (not too difficult for me as I love the slot machines).

I have a couple of card cancelations.
I got an email that one of my CICs that I never use will be closed for lack of activity if I don't charge something soon. I'm probably just going to let them close it as between DH and I we have several.
Yesterday I logged into my Amex account and noticed the red "account is canceled"
on my employee card for DH's BBP. Had never gotten any warning on that. Thankfully he has a Biz Gold to keep his MRs safe.
Did you have to call to transfer the Cap One points? DH's annual fee came up - don't need the card but he has a bunch of points I want to transfer to my account.

Saw said he isn’t sure where it came from and isn’t recommending most people use it ….others in the comments are saying it’s a hacked link 🤷🏼‍♀️
I received this offer in the mail with a code. This came the day after I tried getting another Ink and was denied for too many accounts or something like that. Not sure if having the code will help. I have until the end of April to apply - finishing up my US Bank Biz Bonus right now.

hello! And welcome.

We always recommend starting with Chase cards because they have what we call the 5/24 rule, they usually won't approve you for more than 5 cards in a 24 month period. Having 2 players is helpful because on top of earning SUBs (sign up bonuses), you can earn support points for referring your spouse. That being said, don't add your spouse as an authorized user because that will add to their credit card count.

Chase doesn't have elevated SUBs at the moment, but usually we recommend you start with Chase Sapphire Preferred (CSP), $95 annual fee, 60,000 SUB. Once you have it your wife can use your support link to apply for her own CSP. You can transfer those 60K points to airlines or hotels, or just use them in the travel portal.

I prefer Chase points (URs), because I like to use use those points for hotel stays either through the Chase travel portal or transfer to Hyatt. For domestic flights I prefer Southwest Airlines, we've managed to earn the companion pass for the last 4 years cutting our domestic flight cost in half.

For international travel American Airlines works best for us and they have a good SUB at the moment, 75K miles and the annual fee is waived the first year. I also use American Express points and transfer those to airlines for international trips.

You can get support links for a lot of cards on the https://www.reddit.com/r/DISchurners/, you'll need to create a Reddit account and request access.

Also, a big thing we recommend is to have a spreadsheet to track all your credit cards, day you were approved, day you earned the bonus, day you closed the account. That way you know when it is time to churn that card, meaning you can close/downgrade and earn the SUB again.
