The posted wait times occasionally are correct (LOL - although we often wish they were not correct) but the worst is a line that says 35 minutes and takes 75 = yuk! My aching back.
I was saying staffing issues are the root of the park reservation system... but I would disagree that increased wait times = more guests than staff can manage. Disney may not share guest opinion of what wait times are unreasonable/unmanageable. That is kind of a subjective thing. If "staffing issues" is at the root of the increase in wait times from 2019 to 2022, then it stands to reason that either Disney IS allowing more guests into the parks than staff can manage OR Disney is inflating overall standby times (possibly in order to make Genie Plus more attractive).
OK, so it was always a lie. The lie feels a lot grosser when there's an upsell to "fix" it.They conveniently forget that Disney has always inflated wait times. I mean, I know Disney is full of horrible decisions and am all for calling them out for every last one of them but come on, lets not call them out on the ones where they aren't out to get guests.
Yes it’s always been a lie and I don’t think Disney made them even more inaccurate in order to sell genie+ When it came out. Remember I don’t know of very many people seeing high wait times an hour before closing and they just then decide to buy genie+.OK, so it was always a lie. The lie feels a lot grosser when there's an upsell to "fix" it.
My guess is that in your case, it was either a glitch in the system and/or just a user input error. It appears as if the ride was showing high wait times 8-8:30 but the usual 20-minute evening wait time before and after this - https://wdwpassport.com/past-crowds/august-2022/22 . Granted, at this time of day the wait times for Soarin' are basically walk-on anyway.I'm really disappointed in the inaccurate wait times. Why have a system and not update it?! At 8pm in EPCOT the wait times showed 60 min for Soarin. I walked right up to the cast member. Are they just showing long wait times to sell Genie +? This was almost every ride in EPCOT.
Night wait times are a complete joke. I did 7D with 60 minutes posted and it was almost walk-on. It's not like they don't know that.
When using the Lines app, do you just look at the "expected wait" or do you mean that you reference wait times entered by other users that day?Just used the Lines app from Touring Plans last week in all four parks and thought it was WAYYY more accurate than Genie. However, that was also true BEFORE the pandemic.
That's a terrible idea. The last thing Disney should be doing is giving people LESS value for their money.Disney could start shutting the lines earlier in the evening so the last riders get off the attraction exactly when the park closes.
Yep. I prefer inflated wait times over accurate wait times.I always thought that part of the reason that they posted the wait time longer than their best estimate is that they didn't want guests to be disappointed. I.e., you're happy if it says 30 minutes and you only wait 15, but you're mad if it says 15 minutes but you have to wait 30.
