Ok, I decided to start this..although I am a newbie here....and do not pretend to be a runner of marathons or have the skills of the WISH team and members:)

However, I am signed up for this one....as well as signing up for getting myself into shape to do this! And committed to cross that finish line!

Here is the link to the site with all the information...

I'll join you! I probably won't register until after the Princess since I need to make sure that I don't run out of money in the near future. :)

I'm registered. I did the TOT 13K last month. And honestly, I only did it for the bling. I was at WDW a few years back and it happened to be during Marathon weekend and saw people with the Mickey/Donald/Goofy heads and I've been lusting after them since. I had the trip planned in Oct of this year and then I came across the TOT 13K somehow and it happened to be at the same time as my trip so I figured what the heck.

I did it with almost zero pre-training. I do have a treadmill that I walk on every once in a while, but I hadn't really been on it the month prior to the trip.

While I finished near the back of the pack, I did finish and was never near getting swept. It was an amazing experience and now I find myself planning a trip next year based on a race date. Now I figure I have 300 plus days to increase my distance and speed.

I'm doing an 8K on Thanksgiving and another the middle of Dec. and looking for something in the area for NY day. And it all started with a mouse...or a broken elevator...or something.

Duckfan - those kids are sooooo cute. Love the mickey ears photo.

I've booked my room already for this one. Didn't officially register (probably after the NY 1/2 in March so I can see if I have a fast enough time to get a higher corral). But I'm in. Also going to do the 5K in the morning. Crazy, but what a great weekend this will be.

I love that on Sunday I can drink wine and eat the delicious food and swim in Stormalong Bay and drink frozen delicious drinks. These are a few of my favorite things.

Hope to see you all there.

Yes! I'm not alone...lol

I currently have SSR booked for the first part of my trip....may change over to BWV if avail at the 7mth mark....hoping to get a BB offer next mth while I am in Disney so then I can book YC for the last few days of my trip.

I have been down the week before Oct 1-2 the last 2 yrs for F & W...this is the perfect motivator for me!

I am doing my first 5K in a few weeks ..its a walk/race...taking the walk option...currently walking 4 miles in an fr on the TM....so I registered for this event knowing full well I was serious and had enough time to train/get in shape...and started a PTR(aka journal) .

have learned so much on these threads from such friendly and knowledgeable folks!!!

I've been making payments on a off-property time share. I should have that paid off well in advance of this race, so I think I may use it for this race. I signed up for one week with the timeshare and if I chose to buy in these payments go towards the downpayment.

Also going to do the 5K in the morning. Crazy, but what a great weekend this will be.
I'm hoping to do the 5K in the morning also with my oldest. It would be cool to hit the MK in the morning and the other three parks in the evening. It depends if I can do it or not. For the TOT I could have someone else pick up my package with an ID. Not sure this time. The site now says you have to pick it up yourself, but that could just be poorly worded. I don't think we'll be getting in until Friday evening so I don't think we'd have time to get it but I have other family members who I could give my state ID to who could pick it up for me.

I'm in on this one! It's perfect for us night owls. :goodvibes We have our DVC booked already (Food and Wine), and I will be signing up soon for the half.

Count me in (and hubby too) It will be my first 1/2...he ran the NYC marathon and I use to run with him when he was training but that was two kids ago. This is just what we need to get motivated again!

Plus it'll be a good excuse to make our first ressie as DVC members!!!

The only downside is with the night run our kids will most likely sleep through the finish :sad2:

Hi everyone -

I will be doing this!! BUT, like many of you I have four little people who range in age from 12 to twins who are 6. Therefore Santa needs a bit of cash for the gifts this year ;) So needless to say, once I get through with the holiday I will be registering.

I am doing the princess as my 1st 1/2, I figure this will be a great family trip and motivator to keep me moving all year long.

So basically count me in!!

I reeeeally want to do this one, but...

I ran two full marathons back in the late 90's. Then I went overseas to work and gave up running. Well, I just finally took it back up last month. I'm running 3 miles, 5 days a week.

My left knee, however, has really been giving me fits. Pain on the inside ligament. Ten years of age will do that to you, doncha know. Went to a knee/hip specialist on Tuesday of this week. He put a shot of cortisone in. Told me to lay off it for two days, then give it a shot on Thursday.

Man! I had soooo much pain Tuesday night, I hardly slept! I kept thinking, "That cortisone shot was a mistake!". But on Wednesday, the pain slowly subsided. Then today, I noticed I barely felt the twinge. So I got back on the treadmill this evening, and had the easiest 3 mile run I've had...in years! Woo hoo!

So I think I'm back in the game! I'm gonna give it a few weeks to see if the cortisone holds and really helps long-term.

In the meantime, I'm heading to New York City (for the first time in my life) on Sunday. Going to spend all of Thanksgiving week there with a good friend from Houston. Seeing the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in person has been a life-long dream. My other plan? To run in Central Park! How cool is that?!?

I'll continue to post here and plot my progress, with the grand plan of registering and running the Wine and Dine with y'all.

Keep up the good work! A little over 10 months to go!

Have a great time in New York -- you'll love it! One of my favorite things to do is not to have a plan and just spend the day walking about. Nothing quite like the big city!

My BIL called last night and he and SIL might be interested in the race -- he wanted to see if we would consider going without the kids -- food and wine w/o the kids? Could be a blast! Thing is, could we go to WDW w/o kids and survive the guilt of not taking them?

I've survived..;)

The last 2 years I have done my solo(w/o my family) girlfriends F & W trip...so with this run, it works out perfect cause I am including this into my annual ladies trip:)

However, I did take my girls in May:) DS16 has no interest..he has his big trip last year with his friend when they graduated 8th grade...we had a 2 bdr at OKW..and they lived at DisneyQuest, the waterparks etc....lol

Ok, I will feel a wee bit guilty next mth when I sneek away for a long weekend to meet friends in WDW..BUT will be Christmas shopping for my kids:)

I think it s going to be a great race....walk/run..newbie or oldie..lol...its the very first one and I want that medal:)

I wonder how BWV and BCV availability will be....at the 7 mth mark!!! My friend got in at BCV this yr for F & W at 7 mths.

good luck with the Princess:) Iam actually going to consider that one in 2011, depending on how I do in 2010 with Wine&Dine!

Macy's Parade!! Fun! Mickey and DCL are suppose to be feautred in the parade:) Plus John Stamos from Bye Bye Birdie...how fun..and a run in Central Park??!! That is cool:cool1:

Good luck with your progress!!!

You should be able to get in BCV. Even if not exactly on the 7 month mark. BCV is my home resort and I'm a last minute person. It's best to keep calling if you want to stay there (even though you can wait list too). But something usually pops up along the way.

Went for Everest Challenge this year and booked within the last month before or so. We had to switch 1/2 time at BWV & BCV but it worked out so we could walk to F & W. This is going to be a fantastic time.

I don't know about BCV, but I know at least two rooms that won't be open at the BWV. Seems like a lot of DVC members doing the half. There was a discount for the TOT. I wrote and asked if there was one for this race but haven't heard anything.

Well...I can hope for one room at BWV!! Please keep us posted abt any info you may receive..they did ask if you were an AP holder, DVC member..Yes and Yes!

I'm planning on doing this race also. It is the day we get off the magic after bringing her home from Barcelona. We booked BCV for saturday night but have to wait until the 7month mark to switch the other points(stay) from SSR.

Welcome Amanda! Glad you're joining us.

Well, I've run three days now since the cortisone shot. My knee's a bit tender right after the running, but the soreness goes away really quickly (within a half hour of finishing running). I don't know what to make of all of this yet. Still hoping to do the 1/2 marathon. Will settle for the 5K, but won't be as happy.

Off to NYC tomorrow for the week. Running in Central Park on Monday and Saturday for sure. I'll see if I can squeeze in more.

To all...have a very blessed Thanksgiving holiday! See you here next week.

Have a great time in New York. Make sure you are stretching before and after the run. This will help the tenderness. You may also want to check with your doctor about taking aleive once a day. My brother is a cook and has alot of arthritis in his knees. His doctor wanted to do surgery but my brother is not ready so he put him on one aleive a day and he said he never knew his knee could feel this good.
