Is Coronavirus affecting your travel plans?

My work conference that was scheduled for this month got cancelled, a wedding I had planned to attend in June was to be in Italy and will probably also be cancelled, and depending on what happens with countries deciding to close their ports down to cruise traffic, my October cruise may be cancelled as well. Looks like I'm staying put, like it or not! It's a bummer because I love to travel, but obviously containing this pandemic is more important.

I have my first Aulani trip planned for Mid April. We rented DVC points so I don't think there's any way for me to get my money back since I had to PIF when I booked. I don't want to miss out on this trip at all since it was both expensive and neither my husband or daughter have ever been to Hawaii. I suggested to my husband that we both bring our work computers in case we somehow get quarantined in any way so we can at least keep ourselves up-to-date. We both work for the same company and in the last week they have put a ban on all international travel (unless you work in the US and live in Mexico, or work in a European nation and need to border cross for work), all travel to Hawaii and Alaska, and pulled out of several conferences.

I'm from Ireland. Currently we have 1 confirmed case, a male student from a school in north Dublin who recently returned from Northern Italy. The school has been closed for 14 days. Our Government has a daily press conference in the evenings, todays one is scheduled in approx 1 hours time, approx 8.45pm Irish time.

I suggest you follow Irish media sources such as the live blog here https://www.thejournal.ie/liveblog-covid-19-ireland-5030884-Mar2020/ and https://www.independent.ie/ for updates about the situation in Ireland.

Thank you!

Son is scheduled to do summer abroad in Florence, Italy this year. They are currently recalling the students who are there for Spring. Who knows if he will be goi g or not. If he does go, we will spend two weeks there this summer as well.
My dream city to live in. Congrats!

Husband's and mine workplaces (Israeli hospitals) issued a 'no international travel' order. Anyone returning from China, Italy and similar countries is instructed to spend 14 days in hone home quarantine, as are all coming in contactc with infected people. So we have over 6000 people in quarantine... 12 infected (pop 8.5 million or so).

Currently seems our April trip will be canceled, but since we have insurance, I will wait 2-3 weeks and see what happens in the US. We've been planning this trip for over a year now... *sigh*

We had no plans to travel this year. We are expecting our first grandchild in May so don’t want to miss that.

I usually have a small work conference in September that I attend with about 400 people so I’m not sure if that will be cancelled yet or not.

I have been thinking about flying to my parents in Florida for Easter, but have not booked yet. I am currently being treated by an infectious disease specialist for a spine infection so I am going to wait until I speak with them at my next appointment to get their opinion. anecdotally, the prices for flights have not dropped at all, so not sure how widely airlines have been affected yet!

My company (automotive) also just sent out a directive banning all travel (international and domestic) through March 27th. The email also encourages employees to limit travel when possible and using technologies like Webex and Skype to communicate.
[/QUOTEThis fear is killing our economy.

Congrats on baby!

We are going to Europe in May & June. We have until a few weeks before to cancel and only lose a few hundred dollars. There are no cases in the countries we are visiting, but that can change at any minute. I hate the thought of cancelling and we will wait until the last minute to decide. If it turns out lots of tourist attractions will be closed, I don't even want to go. I am not interested in spending thousands to sit in an apartment. I can sit at home.
Poland and Hungary?

I live in Tampa, where we have 2 cases so far, and another in the county south of here. People are becoming more anxious. Yesterday, we couldn’t find hand sanitizer at any grocery stores, Office Depot - nowhere. But I am still planning to attend a conference in Orlando this weekend. The conference organizers are going to have colored stickers available for name badges - red for no touch, yellow for ask before touching, and green for good with touch (as in handshakes). Participants on an app are talking about being very sanitary and giving air high-fives. I also plan to go one evening after the conference to EPCOT for the Flower & Garden Festival. I will have no problem telling someone I see coughing or sneezing and not covering their mouths that they need to be sanitary for everyone’s sake.

We fly down to Disney on Friday. I will wipe down our tray tables, and anything we would touch but I do that anyway. LOL We will wash our hands and use sanitizer like we always do and hope for the best. I am more worried about FLU right now.

Yes, cancelling our WDW trip for late April - not worth the worry - can always reschedule.
I’m cancelling tomorrow. Dd is devastated that we won’t run the Star Wars 10 k and half marathon. She was doing the Kessel run this year, but things do seem to be getting worse.

Now I can start worrying about what to do about the big June trip we have booked.

I don’t know how much advance notice you have to give them, but hopefully for that trip you could wait to see what kind of impact warm weather has on the virus

That’s my plan. The trips are all booked with dvc points. I need to cancel 31 days ahead to avoid restrictions on the points. So I’ll have til late May to decide for June. Just don’t know what I’ll do with these hundreds of points. Health comes first tough. I keep eons if I should wait a bit—maybe dvc will be slightly more forgiving with reservations.

We were supposed to go this week Thursday-Monday, but decided to cancel. Like many have said, just not worth the risk and stress. I wouldn't like to stand in line or be o a plane with someone coughing at this point and that's a pretty routine occurrence. Bummed.
