Isolated thunder storms called for on our DC day

We are planning on visiting Discovery Cove on May 2nd. I just checked the forcast and it's calling for isolated thunder storms. We are planning on getting there early and getting an early swim. If your swim is cancelled do they let you come back another day? They allow one free change but would it be too late to try to change the reservations to the day before? Do these storms usually occur in the afternoon? Thanks in advance for any imput.

As far as I know DC will not close the park or reschedule you due to inclement weather unless it is a hurricane or thunderstorms all day. They will just postpone your swim with the dolphin for a later part of the day.

Thunderstorms are really common in Florida. It is not unusual for them to have one or more a day. That would be a lot of people they would have to reschedule. They will close for a short time (if there is thunder/lightening) until the storm passes which is within an hour or so. Still plenty of time to enjoy your day.

If it is just rain they will let you continue to swim. That happened to us and we really didn’t notice since we were wet anyway.

Florida thunderstorms are totally different from what we have here in NH. In NH, they can drag on for quite awhile, and the weather is totally different after. In Florida, it is litterally an everyday occurrance, and they're quick. They simply reduce the humidity slightly. If they're saying scattered thunderstorms then yes, there likely will be some during the day, but like the other poster said, they're over within the hour, and aside from a lot of rain that just fell (think blinding rain), things aren't that much different. Unlike here, where "scattered" means sunny, or it could mean that it will rain all day. Scattered thunderstorms shouldn't destroy your day. Enjoy your trip. You all should have a great time!
