DH and I are staying in a Std DVC studio Feb 4 - 12 2020

We've never stayed at AKL before and are super excited!

Just booked our 2020 trip and we're excited to be returning to Jambo House! We'll be there 4/14/20-4/25/20. Looking forward to our savanna view, breakfast at Boma, the Star Wars races, my nephew's high school band performing at DS - it's gonna be a great trip!

Am I the only one who really prefers the look of the old rooms? I know Disney has been slowly ditching all its theming but Animal Kingdom's theming was so iconic. This is just such an incredible shame. It looks like a random hotel room with a couple of Lion King prints tacked onto the walls. I'm really tempted to request a non-refurbished room, but I don't want to be woken by loud construction in the next room either

I think I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the refurbed rooms, but won't know for sure until I get to stay in one. I liked how dark the old rooms were, I like having carpeted floors, I liked having a fan and I even liked the netting above the beds that pulled the theme together. But I also understand why they made the changes and the bathroom upgrade and other little changes to theming and accessibility are all probably for the better. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I liked how dark the old rooms were, I like having carpeted floors, I liked having a fan and I even liked the netting above the beds that pulled the theme together. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm really going to miss the ceiling fan!

Excited for my first stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Got a Priceline deal back in January for Sept 6-15 in a Jambo Deluxe Studio Standard View. Not a whole lot of rooms are Deluxe Studio when looking at the room guides for AKL Jambo, and pictures seem out of date (ones I've found). Anyone stay in this room group recently and had a good view (of pool since that's main view of this group)? Seeing if there's one I should try to request.

We were in a standard 2 br. villa (which in Jambo is a lock off studio + 1 br.) last December #s 5220 + 5222, which are on Kudu trail overlooking a portion of Sunset Savanna.
Jambo has a lot of different view categories, the deluxe standard view villas are all on the 5th floor. The ones on Zebra trail will have a pool or pool + roof view or perhaps a ‘partial’ savanna view overlooking the people pen on Uzima savanna. The villas fronting the lobby will have a pool or pool + roof view, the ones on Kudu trail will have a ‘partial’ savanna view overlooking Sunset savanna.
What I love about the standard view villas at Jambo are that you have no risk of overlooking the parking lot (unlike the standard view cash rooms or the value villas - where there is a chance you could end up in a front facing room/villa.)
If you want a pool view I’d request Zebra trail. If you’d prefer a partial savanna view I’d request Kudu trail.

Here now! Relaxing for a few before dinner...

We booked pool view for the first couple nights of our trip, but at check-in we were upgraded to savanna view. We got assigned a savanna view room on Kudu Trail even though I’d wanted to be on Zebra specifically to be closer to the pool/Mara/etc. The front desk CM kindly got on the phone with the room assigner and found a room on Zebra instead. So we ended up right near the elevator that goes down to the pool and we have giraffes out our window right now — best of both worlds!

Whatever work is currently being done on the resort has had no impact on us so far. Haven’t seen any signs of it.

Oh, and the pool has been great so far for our young kids. The slide is fun enough for my 7yo but tame enough for my 4yo - this is the first time he’s done a pool slide on his own and he’s obsessed.

We haven’t visited the Kidani pool yet, but looking forward to it!
