Jambo! The newest AKL Information thread

They have replaced the flat pod machines to Keurig in the renovated rooms on Kudu Trail. We stayed on Zebra Trail in May and it was the flat pods. I always take my Keurig mini with me but when I went to use it at AKL it was broken. I could not prove that bell services broke it ( worked at home ) so I went to the concierge desk and requested a Keurig ( brought my own K-cups) and they put one in the room.

Yes we had the flat pods in Giraffe Trail. Not renovated yet.

Yes we usually stay in a 2 bdrm either at AKL, WL or B.C. because I love the space with our large family and the washer/dryer is a nice perk. We haven’t stayed CL in years and it was a decent rate with my AP discount. You brought up a good point about the renovations though. Inventory of a bunk room could be non-existent at this point so I think we’ll just stick with the villa. We arrive 7/24 so only three more weeks

That’s exciting! We got a great AP rate for last week & for this month, too, but I’d stick with the 2 bedroom if I were you, too. Have a great trip!

Hi we loved the new room. I have to say the one thing I miss is the ceiling fan. I sleep with them at home and missed that. I think it helps circulate air better. Other than that the room was lovely and the location was great. It was okay for us to have only a shower, (which was so big) but I could see if you were staying longer or with children you would need a tub. The beds and the pillows are so nice. At first I thought it was a little far on the trail but then when I looked off the balcony I realized I was in the middle more and thought it was great.

My DH will also miss the ceiling fan, but we had a brief stay at YC, where there is also no ceiling fan, before moving to AKL last week & he was fine without it there, so we’ll adjust.

Funny you should mention how nice the beds were bc that was our only downside of our trip last week in the old-style room: the mattress was awful. Our backs hurt each morning when we got up & that’s never happened before anywhere. I told DH I guessed they were holding out for the refurbishment. It was an especially big surprise to have that happen bc our YC mattress was amazing! We’ll definitely be looking forward to the new AKL ones the next time we stay!

We’re like you & also can’t wait to go back. AKL has always been our favorite, which is why we keep returning. For us, it’s the resort that truly feels like our Disney home.

I have a couple of questions
1. Has anyone done the safari at night at the resort and if so which one ? The 830 or the 10pm and which one is better?
2. We booked club level and looking to request the best rooms ...Any suggestions ? I know it’s not guaranteed but thought I would give it a shot . Thanks!

Oh that’s great! The part about the pods, not that your Keurig broke . Now I can plan a littlest better and may bring pods of my own. Thank you!

We bought DVC in May AKV. just booked one studio for our daughter, her husband and our grandson. We booked a Club level studio for hubs and myself. My husband thinks i should have booked a 2br, but any chance i can get to stay club level then i want to do it. Getting the club level dvc studio was no easy task and i have been stalking for a few weeks. Our vacation is not until May 2020 but AKL is our favorite resort ! We are going back in SEptember, but we are staying at BCV for Food & Wine. We will get daily housekeeping in the club villa right? i know the regular studio will only get daily trash removal and towel service on day 4. btw do you think i should book the 2br studio? we don't have enought points for a 2br cl villa.

Yes, daily housekeeping and turn down service with the DVC CL room. DH and I love using our points for a CL studio each year, keep in mind a lot of people really don't like them because of the views. There are pool and savanna views, but none are the best due to the high floor and the overhang, and you cannot put in a request for either view, personally, DH and I are willing to sacrifice the view for the CL amenities.
