just saw report of entrance and such getting refurb. Supposed to be done by April.

I hope their target is realistic though, so many things have opened but still needed finishing it seems. We were hoping all the new security locations would be done by now at all the park entrances.

oh I seriously doubt it will be. I figured that was a given after the delays on the rooms.

If anyone is at Kidani now, could you please grab a pic of the dinner room service menu? I tried to look it up, some say it is differnt than Jambo, others say it is the same. I don't get why Disney doesn't have the room service menu online and updated. That's rhetorical of course, it's Disney, the company of misinformation! Curse me for loving it so much.

We just got back Sunday from a week at AKL. Refurbed savannah view room on the Zebra trail. Refurb is fabulous - my daughter said that the bathroom was one of her favorite parts of the trip and the room was bright and clean. Really liked having the under the bed storage and the mattresses were extremely comfortable - probably the best sleep I've ever gotten in a hotel.

We ate breakfast most mornings at the Mara along with lunch on our arrival day and a couple of dinners. All meals were excellent, and I especially appreciated the care the staff took with us. I ordered the carved turkey sandwich one night and asked for it without the avocado mayo. The person who took my order asked why - I replied because I don't eat mayo and he went and found a chef to see if they could get me sliced avocado instead. The chef went and found an avocado for my sandwich...all without me ever asking. (and it was SO good) We also had both a dinner and a breakfast at Boma which we LOVED.

Transportation was mostly excellent. Outside of one issue, we never waited long for a bus to the parks and only on the night we stayed at MK for fireworks did we have to wait long for a bus back. We did have one massive issue on our second Magic Kingdom Day. We got to the bus stop around 8:10 and as more and more and more people arrived, no bus ever did. 40 minutes later, still no bus and families who were just arriving pretending they didn't see the crowd and just walking up and staking a claim at the front of the line and it looked like it was going to get ugly. We finally called a Lyft and walked away. Another family did the same thing - there were easily 2 bus loads of people waiting - maybe 3. As I watched our Lyft driver drive in circles about 10 minutes away, I went in and talked to the front desk - they told me to cancel the Lyft and they gave us a voucher for a cab. Turns out it was a good thing - taking a cab to the Contemporary and walking over meant we didn't have to wait in the main bag check line...and we were NEXT to a family from our bus stop at the gates. My daughter was extremely upset about missing rope drop but we went to the Guest Experience team, explained what happened, and they gave us fast passes to ride Big Thunder Mountain (where we had been headed). Lesson learned - give Disney an opportunity to make things right and they will. We did get to Hollywood Studios 2 days in a row super early to get a boarding group for ROTR. Our first day we scheduled a Lyft for 6 and she was LOVELY. Our second day we scheduled a Lyft for 5:50 (since the driver warned us it's much busier on the weekend) but we ended up taking the bus instead - there was one that arrived at 6:07! (DHS opened at 7 the week we were there)

Really really wonderful week - I miss it so much already!

Hi - is there anywhere to get soft serve ice cream or milkshakes at AKL? (Not frozen novelties). I saw the strawberry yogurt smoothie at the pool bar, it looks promising but not exactly what I’m after. Thanks!

I'm at AKL now, and the bus service has not been good. They are not consistent at all. I'm out there early most days. One day, the first bus to a specific park will arrive 2 hours before the park opens, The next day it won't arrive until 70 minutes before that park opens. The first bus to Hollywood Studios never seems to arrive early. I've watched many people leave to take Uber or Lyft. I had to use Uber to Hollywood Studios twice.

Not a picture but in 2019 they had various Dinner Entrees: Seasonal Fish; Grilled Peri Peri Chicken 26; New York Strip Steak 41; and Vegetable Rice Bowl 24. They also had all day dining Entrees: Caesar Salad 13; Farmers' Harvest Salad 15; Classic Wedge Salad 16; Classic Meatball Sub 16; Sea Salt Grilled Angus Beef Burger 20; Grilled Chicken Sandwich 18; Gourmet Grilled Cheese 12; Roast Beef Sandwich 17; Tuna Nicoise Sandwich 15. They offered appetizers, accompaniments, wine, beer and desserts as well.
