Jambo! The newest AKL Information thread

Has anyone visited AKL Jambo with the hotel portion closed? I'm just wondering what, if anything, is open and how you find it with just DVC folks there. Thanks!

We visited twice before Mara was open. The resort is very quiet which is nice because it means that there’s never a crowd for the elevator and the pool has wide open availability and the buses are empty. We had a car both times and so parking was easy because so few people were staying at the resort. The drawback of course was that the store was closed and when we were there there was no food availability unless you went next-door to Kidani.

I found it really relaxing and quiet, both of which can be hard to find at a Disney resort!

Yes, you can sit and eat at the tables in the restaurant. If you meant to say just sit and "not" eat, I would guess they would not want you to take a table in Sanaa if you are not eating. But, there are lots of animal viewing areas at Kidani outside of Sanaa.

Yes, I would say as long as one person is eating. Many tables available, even on Mother’s Day.

I'll be back "home" in October for, what is now, a split-stay. I had a 1BR (value) booked at Jambo for Oct 20-22 and Oct 22-25 but when the 7-month window opened up, I waitlisted a studio over at the Riviera for the first two nights. I just found out that it was filled! So now, for the same amount of points, we will be starting our mother-daughter trip at the Riviera and moving to Jambo for the last three nights. I am thrilled to be returning back to my beloved AKV, but I sure wish Jambo would be opened by then. I am not holding out hope. I'd prefer Kidani over Jambo, but only because Jiko and Boma are both closed. Since we are in a value room, we are stuck with Jambo, but I sure would love it if we "magically" got moved to Kidani somehow.....

We always do our mother/daughters trip at AKL. This year we are doing the same split at the end of August. Jambo House for 3 nights and then Riviera for 2. Enjoy!
