Hi all!

Just put a deposit for this cruise - not 100% sure yet, but hopefully we will be folding this into our 3 weeks in Europe. Me, DH, two boys who will be 11 and 9.

Just wondering if anyone else is out there? We will get some fancy pages going I'm sure - not sure I am the one to do those, but figured we could start here!

Kim :)

We just booked today.... Seems so far away but will be here before we know it!

I booked this, although I am not sure about it either. My 11yo daughter really wanted to do the transatlantic cruise (which is much cheaper) but my cousin is suppose to get married sometime in Spring 2014. If the dates are over the Transatlantic, we will keep this one. I was worried the price would increase if I didn't book one of them quick.

Anyway, if we keep this, the plan is to fly roundtrip into Paris and head to DLP for 3 nights before going to Barcelona. We love Crush's Coaster, so it should be fun. If we happen to switch, we will do the transatlantic, then head to DLP after before flying home.

I offered her London, but she would rather a Disney Park. She is definitely my child.:rotfl:

I am getting more sure about it as the days wear on... I pretty much have the whole 3 weeks mapped out! So I am totally sold on going, just need to figure out how to afford it all. Ouch. Seriously expensive!

We were trying to get DLRP in there too, but I don't think it's going to happen. Unless DH can take another few days off! He went while on business a few years ago and loved it. Totally want to take the kids!

I toyed with TA crossing too... but being that many days on the sea makes a me a little nervous. I am kind of the seasick type so it makes me feel... blech.... But so many days on the boat would be awesome!!!!! :)

Kim

DLP is one of our favorites. Who am I kidding, we seem to love them all. :goodvibes

To be honest, I'll have just been to Spain with my son in April touring soccer stadiums and the country, so this is stretching the budget. Not to mention, Alaska Cruise in Aug with all of the kids. I keep telling myself, we will fly in and out of Paris and we can Priceline the tickets since it is just my 11yo and myself. I think it is less than 150 roundtrip to Paris from Barcelona (or vice versa), but as I add up the cost, it gets more and more expensive.

To be honest, I always freak out about the costs and then because it is so far ahead, I always manage to pull it off, but this is going to be a tight budget year.

I hear ya. What city do you fly out of to go to Paris? And is there some trick about Priceline?

I know, the cost is super crazy! I am pretty committed to affording it - we usually do a couple other small vacation each each, so like this Christmas, we will skip the skiing, and skip the trip to Disneyland... and just roll it all into this one big one. I hope we can afford it. I have 15 months to work it out!!

Haven't decided what to do about airfare... I want to use miles one way, but seems multi-city is cheaper than one way. So maybe I can do 2 of us on miles and 2 paying... Hmmmm... need to get thinking on that. I wonder when they open up those miles tickets? I need to jump on it day one!

Kim

UGH!! I jumped ship. The transatlantic one is just so much cheaper, I am doing that one. If I have to change again, it will be the May 31st Med cruise. The May 31st one is less expensive as well, so I think that is what I will do.

As far as Priceline, you are a little farther than I am, so miles might be the better way to go for you. The year I did Paris, I went the first week in April. I Pricelined the fare in Nov the previous year; I ended up paying $650 roundtrip per person from Atlanta. That was too good of a deal to pass up.

Since we only have 1 leg home, pricelining from Heathrow will be the best way to go for us. Sometimes you have a lot of stops or really long layovers, but I just explained to the kids the long wait is better than paying 400 more per person. Other wise, we would have had to leave them behind. :lmao: After the explanation, they didn't complain at all. ;)

I would have loved to have meet up with you. I hope you have an awesome trip

Sorry to see you go! But the TA cruise should be awesome! I would have loved the 5/31 sailing, but kids don't get out of school until that Friday and big one is graduating 5th grade, so I don't want him to miss it.

Thanks for the tips! I'll check Priceline. Not sure if we can get straight on miles, or use miles to get a ticket in the us to wherever the cheap flight is from! :)

Thanks!!!
Kim

Hi Kim,

It'll just be the 4 of us... Our two boys are 10 and 13. They are pretty excited about the trip so I hope it all works out. Hoping we might be able to fit in a few days in Paris beforehand with a stop at DLP :)

My boys are excited as well! We have been doing a little reading and discussing things they will see, like the colosseum. Just busy busy researching everything! :) Hopefully we will be able to afford it all and that we keep the cruise as the middle week... I really want to!

It will be great for our boys to hang out! Another plus of having the cruise week is that they can get a break from each other and maybe play with some other kids. That usually helps them to stop arguing so much! :)

Kim

Just off the Magic, where we booked this cruise.

Actually have 2 rooms... 6500 ish I think was our rooms..

We have DCL airfare quoted.. haven't added that yet.. Right now its roughly 1800 per person.

I can't imagine flying coach to Europe. :worried:

Welcome!

If you do DCL air I'm guessing you just have to in and out of the port city near the cruise dates, right?

I know - airfare is the killer!

How exciting! Where was your Magic cruise?

Awesome! How old are your kids?

I am really excited about this trip - I hope I can make it happen! DH isn't 100% sold on the cruise yet, but I think he will be. :)
