In 2022, there was a woman just outside of DHS with the 'BELIEVE' sign from Ted Lasso. I tapped it as I limped past (really bad tendonitis injury; I hobbled the last 8 miles of that marathon) and then immediately broke down crying.

It was a good sign.

I also enjoy kids with signs that say something like “tap here for power boost”—I always (assuming it’s safe to do so) go over and tap, and then zoom away as fast I’m capable of in that moment because I imagine it makes them feel cool to have given a runner a boost. In one local race, I crossed 2 and a half lanes of (empty) roadway to get a power boost from a kid, and then had to cross back to the other side for the next kid (now you see why my watch is always way over on mileage )
