Legoland NY advice?

Any advice on which hotel to stay at for Legoland in Goshen, NY?

My nephew and his family (wife, D3, D6, S16) will be staying one night while my husband and I will be staying two nights. For comparison, we usually stay onsite at DisneyWorld but offsite at Disneyland.

I live in the area, so have not personally stayed in the hotels, but the company I work for uses The Farfield Inn & Suites for out of town guests, which is right in Goshen. Also have used Hampton Inn and The Courtyard by Marriott in Middletown, which is just a few miles from Goshen. Visitors always seemed to enjoy those just fine.

There is the Legoland Hotel right at Legoland. The few things I have heard about it have been mixed, but most say kids enjoy it because of the theming.
