Liberty Tree Tavern--Why doesn't Pete like it?

Okay, everybody. It was our anniversary and it was MNSSHP. We ate at LTT, and we were dressed up as Doctor and Nurse with those special Anniversary buttons. I have been waiting to talk about this because I totally disagree with Pete on this one. When we arrived at LTT, we were met by a husband & wife team who took our names and they had a server escort us to our table. They were very nice, and congratulated us on our anniversary.

We were shown to our tables, and our server saw the buttons, and congratulated us on our anniversary as well. She returned with Mickey confetti and made a heart on our table with it. At this point, my wife was blown away by everything and I was too.

We ordered our food, and the characters came by and were wonderful. Chip even awarded us the Cutest Dressed Up Couple award. The food came and we were blown away. It was AWESOME. Everything was hot and delicious. They serve you family style dishes of food. The turkey, corn, mashed potatoes were all wonderful. I disagree that this is like a TV dinner, but everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. ;-) We had slices of carved turkey. This was homemade Turkey dinner, and it was delicious.

They gave us a special anniversary dessert with a sparkler, and made the dinner complete. This was not swill, it was very good, and in fact when we go back this year to MNSSHP we are going to LTT because it was so special for us. Give it a shot for dinner. I think it is worth it!

I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner at LTT and your anniversary was made special. Disney does know how to make special memories.

However, the food at LTT is not to everybody's taste and you shouldn't be insulted because it isn't. The opinions expressed here are just that, opinions. Your's opinion is every bit as valid as every one else's here and anyone reading the comments written here should weigh them and decide for themselves whether they want to eat at LTT or not. We do, by the way, eat lunch at the LTT on every trip to the Magic Kingdom because I don't like the Crystal Palace and after having dined at Cinderella's Table (or whatever the name) think the food and prices are not worth the effort to get a reservation and not worth the cost. We also feel that taking the time for a sit-down meal is worth it for the rest, relaxation, and break from the heat and LTT and Tony's are the only two options left. Most people agree that Tony's isn't really an option.

My issue with LTT is the dinner. The mashed potatoes are obviously instant and the mac-n-cheese is obviously Stouffer's frozen entrée mac-n-cheese. The meats are freshly prepared, but that doesn't make up for the side dishes in my opinion. I'm glad you enjoy them but my family doesn't. No need to defend either side of the coin here, taste differ and neither is wrong.

Enjoy your next trip to "the World" and all the dining options that are offered no matter what you choose.

I didn't mean to insult. Some of my response was in jest with what Pete said on the podcast. Sorry if I offended. :sad2:

We ate lunch there with both boys. My Sandwich Heard Round the World was very tasty, as far as turkey sandwiches go, and the boys cleaned their plates (which for preschool boys at Disney is truly saying something!). My husband who worked in the restaurant industry for most of the nineties was equally impressed with our server (his job used to be training for a major sit down chain), and his food was also good.

Now, dinner may be a different story. But, we did enjoy our lunch. I don't think I would pay for dinner with the knowledge of frozen Stouffer's on the menu. We could do that at the hotel for a 1/4 of the price.

The one gripe I have about Disney food for kids in general is an over abundance of Pizza and Chicken Strips. Here at LTT, there were some healthier options (carrot sticks, grapes, fruit cups) versus fries and chips which were at the grab n go areas. When you're out in that heat, the last thing I want in my kids is a ton of grease!

Nice to see the healthier options for lunch. Do they have caracters for lunch as well?

Unfortunately no characters for lunch (is there a character lunch?). But, they did get a bit of history! We sat in the Betsy Ross section, and my eldest had a history play that had touched on some of the early Americas so he was interested in the things around him (for about 5 minutes), then it was all about the crayons!

They do a really neat thing at the beginning, don't know if they do it at dinner, but they select a family to ring a LARGE hand bell and call everyone to order, then they read part of a proclamation. When they call your name they would say, "The Hughes family, from the sovereign state of Indiana." which to me being a history buff was kinda cool.

I find it interesting that you canceled LTT based on Pete's remarks, but you kept Ohana's, Whispering Canyon, and Coral Reef despite Kevin's previous reviews.:confused3

I gotta say something about Kevin's O'Hanas review.

I think O'Hana's is one of those places you have try yourself. My sister and I went there in May and she LOVED it, I mean, it and while I enjoyed it, it wasn't somewhere that I felt I had to go to every trip. I thought the food was better than Kevin did, but it wasn't anything to rave about, the kids really did have a good time though.

Same thing with some friends of mine that went last month. My friend thought it was just okay (food wise) but her DH raved and it was his favorite meal of the trip.

I guess the same should be said for all Kevin's reviews though, like he says, they are just a snapshot and only his opinion...so if you really want to try a place, go for it. But I can see ctw580's thinking too. You hear a bad review and a rave review, might as well go with the place that got the rave.

the LTT wasnt for mom and dad just the daughters. One of them doesnt care for the the "stouffers style food"...... i figured let them dine at CP and get more choices.

Mom and dad are that night at Artist point for our 25th alone!!!!!

coral reef is about the location for us....

chef mickeys is a first time thing....

we enjoy ohanas even though food is just average....

we are staying at WL so WCC for the first night is just simple for us. especailly after a hotel transfer that day from POFQ. think it will kick off the week with some laughter...

been to le cellier, kona, concourse steakhouse(we enjoyed)....we try something new everytime. wife and i are doing monorail resorts dinners for the week!!!

i based LTT review from here and other web forums, i wont name, and MOST reviews werent favorable.....so with 78 days to go i figured i better do something before its too late.

I am familiar with both the LTT and Stouffer's food. Grew up near Stouffer's. If a meatball had a weird shape or the thing weighed too much or any little thing was wrong, they sold it for $.25 or $.50 in the outlet shop. Mom bought a LOT of Stouffer's. I know my Stouffer's inside out. I also happen to like many of their dinners. You could do a lot worse than their Chicken a la King. (They no longer sell stuff so cheap.)

Most of the food at the LTT isn't made by Stouffer's. Is it frozen? Probably. But it isn't like they're plucking feathers off the chicken over at the Crystal Palace.

I think LTT is a charming little restaurant and relaxing (as WDW restaurants go.) The characters spend a decent amount of time with the kids.

My only problem with it is the same problem I see creeping through WDW. The food is dry. Hoop Dee Doo, Whispering Canyon and now LTT...all dry. They've also changed a few things, maybe buying it somewhere new or whatever, that make it not as good as it once was.

So, that's my $.02 on that.

We love LTT for lunch! It's one of our Must Do's for lunch at MK. I always get the crab cake appetizer and the Colony Salad. The salad is always fresh and full of apple chunks, chicken, fresh spring mix and other yummy good stuff.
We've never tried dinner at LTT and probably never will!

We ate at LTT last fall with nieces 4 & 6 and their parents, mostly because it was handy before MNSSHP. It was "okay good" not "great good". The characters were the best part. My BIL, who had never been there before said, "You know, this stuff tastes a lot like Stouffers." We told him Stouffers is the sponser. He wasn't too pleased after looking at the cost. And I had to agree with him. Stouffers is okay at home, but not at $20+ a person at WDW.

DS and I ate at LTT once a couple years back. Check in was a little touchy in that they said we didn't have an ADR???? I have heard this problem from others which seems to be a common complaint at this restaurant. They either found us or believed me eventually and after about a 30 minute wait we were seated for dinner. We enjoyed the food since we new what to expect. I especially liked the salad. We will do it again but now after hearing all the great hoopla about Crystal Palace, that's my next stop. :)

We went there a few years back and we have not been back since. It was not horrible...we found it just okay but found other restaurants to be more our thing. The food was not enough to pull us back.

Ditto for us in reference to the "missing" ADR. Very frustrating to make a reservation 6 months out then have a restaurant act as if you shouldn't be there. We cleared things up pretty quick and only had to wait 20 mins. The food was pretty good. If nothing else, there was lots of it!
