The 16th race of the 2019 season is the "Toyota/Save Mart 350" at Sonoma Raceway on SUNDAY, June 23rd. Qualifting is set for SATURDAY, June 22nd/ Please make your picks before qualifying is scheduled to begin.
We have a weekend off cuz of Father's Day. I will move the thread ro the top from time to time.
Fun facts and interesting tidbits:
Sonoma Raceway is only 1 of 3 road courses on the NASCAR schedule. The track used to be 2.52 miles per lap but in 1998 it was decided to eliminate turns 5 & 6 and put in "The Chute" whicj increased speeds while upsetting some drivers at the same time.
The Chute shortened the lap distance to 1.99 miles. We'll see 85 laps raced for the total race distance of 350 miles.
The driver with the most wins at Sonoma is Jeff Gordon. Ge dominated this track like few others have ever done. His other records here include: Most top 5's, most top 10's, most starts, most poles, most laps completed and most laps led. WHEW!
Of the active drivers, #18 and #19 lead with 2 wins each. #4, #1, #48 and #14 are right behind with 1 trip to Victory Lane.
#1 has most laps led. #14 has most top 5's of active drivers with 8 and 10 top 10's. Right behind him us the #22. H Logano has never won Sonoma but has been a model of consistency with his finishes.
OK!
My Sonoma picks:
J Logano <~~~ I said he's have a monster week and he did...
D Hamlin <~~~ Looking for a HUGE effort on the road course....
Kyle Busch <~~~ Yep! Driving too well to leave the #18 off...
K Harvick <~~~ He bounced back at Michigan...the bouncing continues...
M Truex JR!!! <~~~ Proven winner...going for #3...
My spare will be Kurt Busch....
Picks from Princess Ariel:
#2
#12
#14
#19
#48
Spare is #18
Good Luck ALL!
