No kids why do you stay with Disney?

My wife and I are in our mid 40's with no kids and are about to sail on our 5th DCL cruise next week. We love DCL more than other cruise lines for many reasons. The cruises (minus the pool areas) feel like there are less kids running around which I attribute to the great things we hear about the kids areas. Then with the adult only clubs, dining and pool areas we almost forget there are kids on the ship. The higher level of service on DCL verses what we have seen on other lines we've sailed with just adds to the love of DCL. Some of this added love from us might be because we are in general big Disney fans and are DVC members and have done a few ABD trips as well.

I simply did not like the two Royal Caribbean cruises I have taken - the food was awful, the staterooms were dirty and it wasn't enjoyable. As as AP who lives in Orlando, I frequent the parks and resorts a lot and I feel like I know what I'm getting with a Disney Cruise. The ship will be clean, the rooms will be comfortable and I will enjoy the food. I also like that the ships are large and beautiful without being overwhelming and chaotic, like some of those massive ships I've seen!

Since we don't take cruises or expensive vacations regularly I think it's worth it to spend a little more on something I know we will enjoy vs. trying out another cruise line.

Oh and hands down, Castaway Cay is worth it alone! :)

DCL feels safe and that is of the upmost importance. I am a HUGE Disney fan and enjoy the characters and shows probably as much as any child. Disney also enforces adult exclusive areas on the ship. We have sailed DCL 7 times and have our 8th cruise booked for October. All of these except 2 have been just DH and me.

I have a great story which answers this question.

On our first cruise I met an intoxicated gentleman and I asked how can you be drunk and have kids with you. He said his kids were all grown up and out of the house, not on the cruise. I asked, "then why Disney?"

He explained Disney does it the best and does the best job of keeping the kids and adults separated. Separate Adult pool, bars, even beach! He said if I don't want to I don't need to see any kids.

Other cruise lines the kids are under foot, in the bars, casino, even pushing the buttons on the elevators.

So that the short answer of a really good chat I had with him.

we are two adult sisters who cruise together. Neither of us has children. We do not drink alcohol or gamble and cigarette smoke makes us ill. We therefore like the atmosphere of Disney that is family-friendly, not a "party ship", has no casino, and significantly limits where guests can smoke. We enjoy the characters, the service, the amenities. The other reason we sail DCL is the same reason we vacation at WDW -- they are excellent at dealing with food allergies, especially multiple ones.

We took our first ever cruise after we became empty nesters. We went to Alaska on DCL and were completely impressed by the outstanding customer service and being disney fans, loved the disney touches.

We do not want to go with a party cruise ship or a floating nursing home cruise ship.

Disney is perfect for what we want at this time in our lives. Cannot wait until our granddaughter is old enough to come with us on DCL!

We still have kids at home, but we will still cruise with Disney after they are out of the house because we don't like the "booze cruise" atmosphere of some other ships, we don't gamble and don't like walking through the smoky casino and you don't have to "buy up" to get decent food and service. We recently sailed on the Allure of the Seas and the food was so bad that we had to buy the specialty restaurant package. The downside to all of the specialty restaurants, is that they make the main dining room food so bad that you will agree to pay the higher prices to eat in a nicer restaurant. Our second (and final day) in the main dining room we waited an hour between the appetizers and the main course- which were all horrible! We also feel comfortable that Disney will always put the safety of passengers first. A few years ago we were supposed to take a cruise through the Med. with stops in Turkey and Greece. It was the summer that there was a lot of political turmoil in Greece and some safety concerns in Turkey. They modified the itinerary, which was disappointing because we were looking forward to those ports, but at the same time, made us feel confident that they would always put passenger safety first.

I'm a single adult with no children and I love cruising with Disney. Obviously being a Disney fan is a plus but I've also sailed on RCCL and HAL and although I enjoyed myself on those other cruise lines I actually prefer the staff, service and entertainment on the Disney ships.

I feel like everyone is on the same page....if you are a Disney fan...why wouldn't you cruise DCL?
My husband and I have been on 3 cruises and are going on our 4th this June. We have no kids or plans to have kids. Our love for Disney is tremendous, and DCL has never disappointed us.

I love Disney - we went to the parks 2-3 times per year in 2005 - 2009, sailed with DCL in 2010, 2011, 2012 and again in 2015. I'm a Disney fan but cruise on many different lines. I love to cruise and find cruising on other lines to be just as good - and in some ways / things - better than DCL.

My daughter turned 18 in September I suggested that we take a three day trip on DCL at the end of our Orlando stay. She gets to pick the entertainment on the ship for us. Swear to God to think she’s looking forward to most is Cove Café. :confused3

When my daughter turned 18, she was thrilled to be able to use the adult pool and go to the adult beach on CC.

I've been on six cruises with the kids, now 18 and 22, but DH and I are taking our first cruise without them next year. I looked at all the other cruise lines and had no intention of booking again with Disney. However, we are not casino people and all the other cruise lines reminded me of all inclusive resorts which we found are definitely not for us. The Disney service, the shows, the rotating dining rooms, the rooms with the split bathrooms, the general vibe of the cruise, and don't forget the towel creations had me crawling back to Disney. Much to my surprise, DH (who is the least Disneyfied among all of us) was thrilled that I booked with Disney and told me that he didn't want to cruise with any other line.

Haven't posted in forever, but saw this thread and had to jump in.

Middle-aged, empty-nesters here. Our running joke is "Uncle Walt and his mouse" get all our travel dollars. Been on 12 cruises with DCL (2 with RCCL before)...can't ever see myself switching away from Disney (although I do understand the price can be much cheaper elsewhere).

-We are huge Disney fans (parks and everything else)
-Disney service has been second to none
-Food allergies are handled wonderfully (Celiac disease for 8 years and have probably had 300+ meals with Disney in one form or fashion and never had an issue...whereas other places I've been, about 1/2 the time I'm deathly ill afterward)
-DCL does its best to keep the kids out of the adult areas, sometimes even in what have to be uncomfortable conversations for crew members)
-Have zero interest in a casino, reeking of cigarette smoke, or otherwise sailing on a "floating mall/theme park". We prefer the classic cruising style

Is DCL for everyone? Obviously not, but I go over this same stuff with people whenever I go on vacation and tell them we're going on a cruise and I'm met with "Again? Why...you don't have kids"

My husband was the same way -- I was the one that took the leap and he begrudgingly went along. I miss Disney terribly and hope we can one day do another cruise on them, but by sailing on other lines we have saved thousands on same itinerary sailings -- allowing us to do more cruising. ;)

For the same reason we still go to WDW without our now adult aged children

Service, split baths, ships are beautiful. No casino. It just feels like home/cozy. My kids-over 18 now. They still want Disney. Went to book our Alaska cruise with Princess, they threw a fit! They love Cove Cafe and just the quiet of the ship. We will be poor, but happy DCL cruisers!

DW and I have taken 8 DCLs, 6 of them just us.
We prefer DCL due to having been on other lines, the safety record, family atmosphere, being alone when we want too, and trust in the Disney name.
You can not beat the CC -SB area for quiet time.

I had saw I could get a butler on carnicval and 1k less but then I looked and realized for a 5 night cruise they were doing free open bar and it was just a booze cruise.
