Not So Scary Halloween Party

So, I bought a theme park ticket to the Magic Kingdom for 8/12, the first night of the Not So Scary Halloween Party. I also made a reservation for 6:10pm at Cinderellas Castle for dinner. I'm being told now that admission to the park after 6pm requires another ticket because the party is going on, however, since I have a dinner reservation that I will be allowed in but I will have to exit the park after dinner. This doesn't seem very Disney like. I had no idea that being admitted to the Magic Kingdom for the party was required the purchase of another ticket. So, after dinner, do the Disney police escort me out? If I try to go on a ride, will I be flagged? Some one fill me in, please.

If you can even keep your ADR without purchasing a MNSSHP ticket, you will be escorted to the exit after dinner. We had dinner at BOG a few years back. The meal started before the party but it was well after the party had started by the time we had finished. There was a CM who took a group of us out of the MK. No stopping along the way. No detours. Straight to the exit!

On August 12th the Magic Kingdom is open 9 am to 6 pm.

Your theme park ticket for the day gives you access to those hours.

CRT has dinner from 3 - 7 pm. This allows for those checking in before the private event.

Since you will be in the park and likely checking in to your ADR by 6 pm you should be fine eating dinner at that time.

When you are done eating, the Magic Kingdom will be closed.

You will likely be escorted to the front gate if you did not also purchase a ticket to the private event, MNSSHP. If you did you will get a party band.

You can not go on a ride, go in a store and not even use a bathroom without a party wristband.

It has been this way for MANY years.

We did the Boo Bash last year, and as soon as MK closed, CM's were all over the place checking for wrist bands. They were checking them at the entrance to all rides as well. We saw people being turned away all over the place.

Interesting you had no idea you would need another ticket to stay for the party. If you look at park hours, it lists ”special ticketed event 7 pm - 12am.” The Halloween Party page clearly says “purchase tickets”. You knew it was the first day of the party, so you have some knowledge about parties. Parties have always required a separate admission since they started having them.

So yes, you will be escorted out after your dinner. At 6 pm park closing, CMs will check for party wrist bands as you enter any land, attraction, shop, restaurant or rest room. The only direction you will be able to go is out. And it has nothing to do with being “very Disney like.” The people paying $130 a ticket are entitled to enjoying the festivities from 7 - midnight. Anyone who didn’t buy a party ticket is not.

If you’d like to stay for the party I would suggest talking to guest services before you go and see if you can change your regular ticket to the party. Pay the difference if there is any. When you get a party ticket you can get in at 4pm to the park. Or eat the cost and buy tickets if you’d like to stay the night.

There is no "upgrading" a regular ticket to a party ticket. They are two separate tickets. If you want to go to the party, you need to purchase a party ticket. And since the OP is talking about the first night - when the influencers/bloggers/vloggers (ie: the sponsored people) will be there too, I'd get those tickets sooner rather than later as I expect they may well not be available the day of.

If I wasn't doing the party, I'd try to bump that ADR up a little bit so you're in before 6pm just to be on the safe side for even being allowed to get to your dinner.

Yes, this has been normal procedures for years. I don't think it is un-Disney like to ask you to leave after you have enjoyed your meal as the park is essentially closed to guests who have not purchased the separate party ticket. There should be no expectation that you would be allowed to stay and ride a ride before exiting.

If OP would rather go to the party than attend the park during regular hours, OP can use the value of his/her purchased ticket toward a party ticket. OP would just need to do this prior to entering the park that day and, yes, sooner rather than later as it will most likely sell out.

Interesting. I've never heard of upgrading the ticket to a party ticket.
