See I disagree with that. They didn’t have this in place right at the Pandora opening or at the Potter opening. So with that I don’t expect it at the SWGE opening.

Yes people will leave the line and try to come back but that happens in a lot of lines throughout Walt Disney World that don’t have the pass.

I could be wrong but I just don’t think in the grand scheme of things they will do this on opening day.
But because they already have this experience with FoP, which by the way has been the only attraction to reach 5 and 6 hour wait times on a regular day, and because they know how to have a handy dandy card and meet up area to control the people coming in and out and because they know these new rides will have very long lines, shouldn't they just have this potty pass system in place from day 1? Wouldn't it help ease the tension that will arise from people waiting for hours and then see other people randomly just walking past them on the way to their families up front?
I always give Disney the benefit of the doubt, again I've experienced many "Day 1s" most of them have been lacking in the planning department, but if they already have the knowledge why not hope they use what they know and implement it for the benefit of the guest?
It cost the nothing
It'll be better for the CM working the lines
When guest know that this is an option they won't get angry/frustrated when they see people coming in and out

But SWGE is a whole new land that Disney doesn’t know how to react with crowds. You know they are worried when there won’t be FP right away. Disney hasn’t opened an attraction without FP since Test Track. I just don’t see them having the bathroom pass on day 1.

One reason I see them NOT doing this is because of how long the line will be. Think of it this way: a family gets in a 5-hour line on opening day. Thirty minutes later, 10yo Johnny needs to go to the bathroom, so Dad and Johnny get a bathroom pass and go and now... they get to go enjoy the rest of the park for 4 1/2 hours and then just go meet up with their family later to ride the Falcon? Or they go stand somewhere away from the rest of their family for the remaining 4 1/2 hours? I guess I don't see how it would work.

Interesting. Could this lead to color coded (or something similar) passes that give, say a time limit of 1 hour, to negate taking advantage of it?

This is why I think they are going to wait and see how large crowds operate in the land before implementing any sort of bathroom pass or whatever.

That's what I would do. Gauge the crowd reactions and formulate a plan, if necessary. It might just go real smooth and people will be forgiving.

FWIW, I clearly remember reports that Potterland DID have a system in place for folks who needed to leave the line for a bathroom. What I can't recall is if it was for Hogsmeade, Diagon, or both. It wasn't fancy - just get to a certain point in line, get a little ticket from the employee stationed there, exit, return to that same spot and turn in your ticket to reenter the line. I had to use it once while waiting 3 hours for Gringott's and it was simple and easy, not a single feather ruffled. Iv'e never understood why WDW can't do the same.

That makes a lot more sense to me than leaving the line and meeting up with your family at the FP merge point! I don't understand that concept at all.

People will leave the line regardless if a bathroom pass is implemented or not, they can't stop that. Again one more thing that they have to consider before they open. How they handle that is completely in their court but they can't expect people to get in a multi hour line and not have the possibility to go to the restroom

You can never really stop line/queue abuse. Disney tried with FP+ but they barely use the second touch points anymore. People are always going to try to skip, leave and come back or whatever. I just think they are under a wait and see approach here.

As a guest you should also know the risk of the wait when getting in line too. There is no bathroom pass at Mine Train and sometimes that is a multi hour long line.

I agree completely, and it is to Disney's advantage to figure out an equitable way of handling it. If people are afraid to leave the line for bathroom breaks, they won't drink enough water, which will cause a lot more fainting and other medical problems (heat exhaustion or even heat stroke being the most obvious in August). People need to be able to hydrate well if they're going to stand in a 5-hour line in Florida nearly every month of the year!

I have noticed this too. However, it seemed for big rides (where jumping into the FP unnoticed is easy) they still use the second touch point during busy seasons. Actually last Thanksgiving I watched 4 people climb up the side of the "hill" at FoP to jump into the FP line, not knowing the second touch point. Well they were scanned insisted they had FP then escorted out through the back of the ride. I assume to be removed from the park since it wasn't simply to the exit of the line, and security guards showed up. Also saw someone cut around the line for FoP at rope drop (going the wrong way through the land, visibly ignoring CM directions), cut in front, then right before boarding he was told he had to leave the line and park for the day. Just wanted to say, for those wondering, that the CMs do look for it just hard to catch everyone, especially those groups of 6-8 "catching" up to their party (that seems perpetually ahead of them).

Looks like I was wrong. Disneyland will use the bathroom pass from the start. However no word on DHS yet so they may wait and see how it works at Disneyland.

Also no standby line to enter the land Without a reservation. They are giving guests a window of time.
I really wish WDW would do this so that I knew I had access with my on-site reservation in September. Do you think they're waiting to see?? Or just not doing it at all?

I think it is a wait and see. I don’t think they will do a reservation system based on hotel rooms but I do think they will do the reservation window aspect.

Wow, interesting!

So, at least in Disneyland, there really will be absolutely no point to uberfans camping out the night / morning before opening. Basically, Disney is saying 'if you don't have a pass, don't bother coming.'

Yeah which if this goes well I wonder if they won’t allow camping in WDW either.
