Day 8 Part 2: Magical Kingdom
We express-bused it over from Epcot to MK. Magic Kingdom was pretty darn crowded that day. We managed to get a later FP+ for Haunted Mansion which was perfect timing as it was right before our Dismeet dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern with @Tracy161! In the meantime we had some time to kill -
I found the princess back drop so we had to get a picture with that. I guess 3 out of the 4 was not too shabby. Wish I could have remembered to get the one at DHS though.
It was so hot today and I'm like literally even more of a hot mess at this point, haha.
We decided to cool off and grab my favorite drink in MK:
Refreshing!
Then we saw that Enchanted Tales with Belle had a 25 minute wait, and since we haven't done this in a really long time, we decided to wait. Turned out to be more like 35 minutes, blech, but hey, there was nothing else we could do but enjoy the cool air while waiting.
We grabbed some Photopass in front of BoG. No magic shots though, in fact MK was the one park we didn't get any magic shots. What's with that, MK!?! It's supposed to be Photopass day, LOL.
Anyways, we didn't get too many photopass in MK just because I was tired of waiting in line and it was so hot.
Soon it was time for a whirl with hitchhiking ghosts...
And then off to dinner!!
We headed towards Liberty Tree Tavern and met up with @Tracy161 right outside! So excited for our dinner at LTT! If you don't know the story, the first time I met Tracy in person was during our 2015 trip - it was an entirely impromtu Dismeet as we just so happened to be riding BTMRR at the same time! Read all about it here.
We checked in and waited in the fireplace area - I know they did a bit of renovation to the restaurant but honestly, I think it looks exactly the same, LOL. Can anyone tell me what is different? We spent the time catching up with Tracy, it was so great to see her again! I think this picture might have been from after dinner but I'm going to show it now in any case:
Tracy looks gorgeous and I look like a sweaty deer in headlights, haha. I did manage to get myself some copper Mickey Ears though. It wasn't deliberate but I've done this a few times now. I'm going to have to take pictures from now on where I can place my head in a strategic fashion where it looks like I have something on my head.
LTT has a set menu for dinner and everyone gets the same feast:
Warm rolls to start
You can't go wrong with warm fluffy carbs!
Followed by our salad course:
Declaration Salad: Tossed Mixed Greens with House-made Dressing
Then the goodies arrived:
Patriot's Platter: Roasted Turkey Breast, Pot Roast, and Carved Pork Roast with Mashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables, Herb Stuffing, and House-made Macaroni and Cheese.
Wow so much goodness. Let's get a close-up of the meats. The stuffing was underneath:
Everything was quite tasty and very filling!
Here are the sides, plenty for the 3 of us to share:
So much carb-y goodness I dont' know where to start! Think the mashed potatoes were my favorite part of the entree.
After we were stuffed full with the savories, we were presented with this glorious concoction:
Oooey Gooey Toffee Cake
Vanilla Cake with Gooey Toffee Filling, Caramel Sauce, and Vanilla Ice Cream
This was fantastic! The last time we were here we had the Johnny Appleseed cake which was pretty good as well but I'm glad they now offer this with the platter as it is so much better!
We all agreed it was a great meal at LTT. Now I kinda want to go back! I've already planned my meals for Sept 2018...but of course things can change in between then, LOL.
Our dinner ended right at the time Happily Ever After was about to start so we kinda scurried around looking for a place to watch. There really weren't many options so we kinda stood at the side toward Tomorrowland, at least Tracy and I did. Steve was walking in some other direction and headed towards main street.
Here are some pictures from HEA I took as we walked around looking for a spot to stand.
The park was still open after the fireworks were done and so Tracy, it being the first day of her solo vacation, was eagerly awaiting her first rides - her night was just beginning! Us on the other hand were so drained from the day that we decided to head back to the Poly. But no worries, we were to meet up with Tracy the next morning at DHS before our flight leaves! So I get to look forward to Tracy Part 2 the next day. That made leaving MK a little less sad.
Here's me and Tracy after Happily Ever After and before we parted ways that evening. See you the next day Tracy!
It was a fantastic day and a fabulous DISmeet night!!!
We had a fun time being able to park hop so quickly and I didn't have to keep track of where everyone was or send out a bunch of reminders, lol. Photopass Day in all honesty wasn't a big deal. The rare characters had huge lines, and so you really were mainly looking for some magic shots throughout the parks. It was a big deal if you did not already have a photopass package or memory maker as it entitles you to get the pictures you took that day for free. So that is a nice perk for people who don't have APs.
Coming up...our very last morning!!
